Chapter 45: Creating our own path

Days later the higher we rise the floor the harder it gets. The battle is not as fast like before. Upon reaching floor 30. The battle was only done once every day. Because of that, it will take more than two weeks to completely reach floor 50.

Because of some free time we have we started going out a lot, Money is not a problem anymore. I started to know why Fina wanted to continue battling in the battle tower. The reward is very high and it covers all of our bills. We are contented with the Inn we’re currently renting with three beds.

Currently, I’m with Yumi and Taki enjoying the fun things in the amusement park. Battle frontier si also an amusement park. There are a lot of fun things to do. We ride many exciting rides and eat lots of things.

While smiling and not worrying about anything. I come to a realization.

“This is not what I wanted to do! This is not it!”

“What’s the problem? Aren’t you enjoying this park?”

Taki turned her head on me with a  corndog on her hand. She then put the corndog in her mouth.

Taki meanwhile is seriously eating some cookies and then talked.

“Laura is right, this is not what I wanted…. Staying here is out of the question anymore. We already have the ability and understand how it’s made. Staying here for two more weeks or more is time-wasting. I need to grow stronger and then search for my big sister quickly.”

Yumi is also thinking about what happened last time with her and her big sister. I guess I can’t blame her because all she wanted to do is have revenge on her big sister.

“Wait, we still have a lead on your big sister Lei Mei is still the acting frontier master of floor 50. When we met her we might get some lead about your big sister.”

“That’s true…”

Yumi seems to calm down.

“Then, Why Laura is also freak out? Are you planning to kill someone?”

“What are you saying I don’t have such a thing. Also, why would I kill humans? It’s not the right thing to do…”

When I said those words. I remember the people I killed in the forest before. I was reminded of their scarlet blood flowing on the ground.

“What’s wrong Laura? You look pale…”

I averted my eyes away from them.

“It’s nothing… About the thing, I’m referring to earlier. My goal is to meet again with my friend named Mayu and fulfilled the promise of traveling the world. My main goal is to travel the whole world. That’s the reason I wanted to become stronger so that I can protect myself while I go on a journey. But staying here is quite irrelevant now. I feel restricted and cage. Staying in one place might not be my thing.”

Taki finished eating her corndog and then look upon the sky.

“Well, I don’t feel like battling anymore. I already learned my ability. Also, Glenn is not in his apartment anymore. Maybe he already goes back to the capital city to do his job. I was thinking that it’s the main reason he kicks us out before. He wanted to teach us a lesson about surviving in this world. Then about the 50 consecutive wins in the battle tower. Then I’ll drop this mission given by Master Karyll.”

“Me too…”

“Same here…”

While walking in the park. We passed by to a bench chair with Lei Mei and her maid sitting. We ignored it first and then stopped our body.

Lei Mei and I turned our heads to each other. Both were astonished at the sudden turn of events. We both outed out each other.

“Laura?!”

“Lei Mei?!”

We then sit down beside Lei Mei. There we get to talk with her. I talked with her and told her that we might never come to face each other in the battle tower anymore. It shocked her for a bit, but as an adult, she composed herself immediately. She then told us that Yumi’s big sister is not in the Battle frontier anymore. We tried to ask her about the location, but it’s something that she can’t tell.

“Then before the three of you left this Island I have to show you something.”

“We don’t trust you that much there is no reason for us to come with you.”

Taki said to Lei Mei. She then turned a cold gaze on us and then put her finger on her chin.

“I can’t blame you… I did put injuries on you before. I indeed injured my opponent before but I have a reason for doing that.  I just play as a villain for a reason.”

“My lady are you sure…”

“Yeah… I will reveal my true self to them.”

True self? Lei mei true self? What could it be? I thought as I look at her blue sapphire-like eyes. She looks very genuine and I don’t felt any danger coming out of her body.

Taki, Yumi, and I look at each other and nodded. We agree on Lei Mei's request on following her. She brings us to an abandoned factory in the back of the amusement park. The abandoned factory is spacious and no one is here.

“Since we’re about to separate let's have some spar battle here Laura.”

“What?! You said you're going to show you're true self.”

“I indeed said that…”

Lei Mei’s body was covered with blinding white light. The light disappeared and in front of us, a seemingly different person appeared. A girl who looks younger age than me and shorter.

I think I get it now why she suddenly got angry when I called her weak. That is because she is a child like us.

“This my true from… I’m Lei Mei!”

But one thing is for sure…

Taki, Yumi, and I charge toward Lei Mei with sparkling eyes. We then embraced her whole body and rub our cheeks on her.

“So Cute!”

“Lei Mei so cute!”

“Lei Mei!”

The main that escort Lei Mei then put her hands on her face and shook her head. Her face is a bit red.

“Don’t rub your cheeks on me! Flaming punch!”

Lei Mei punches the three of us down.

We indeed got carried away from her cuteness.

“Girls from the land of Wa is very cute like they said. Even as a girl my heart skip a beat seeing your cuteness.”

“Don’t repeatedly say I’m cute. Being cute is the opposite of being strong. Being cute is not cool at all… Laura! This is the battle between us. Two in the back don’t interfere.”

Taki and Yumi nodded and behave themselves in the side. Lei Mei and I then put distance from each other. In the middle acting as the judge was the maid.

The battle has started.

After the fierce exchange of magic and ability. The one remaining standing was Lei Mei. She is indifferent level on the other adventurer and monster I encountered.

“My lady is considered as the guardian of fire. That’s the reason she gave very strong flame magic. Even against someone as talented as the three of you. You three don’t have a chance of winning.”

I admit it her magic is very destructive. I was utterly defeated after I thought I became stronger. I guess, I’m not that good, but learning on this island is enough. I must go move forward.

“Don’t say my secrets… It's a secret and I don’t like being called the guardian of fire. That’s why I run away from home. I hate those pushy people wanting me to do things that I don’t want to do.”

Looks like we are the same. I then cracked a smile look toward Lei Mei.

After earning lots of money from the battle tower. Taki contacted Master Karyll and told her that we’re dissolving the mission she gave to us.

Master Karyll is a very understanding person and then just happily supports us from the path we wanted to take.

But bad news has come to us.

Apparently, the teacher that teaches us to learn our ability was already dead.

We’re sad to hear the news. Despite the short period of time being with him. Glenn became somewhat important to us.

Taki especially is very hurt by the news she just heard. But after crying she immediately whipped her tears and stays strong.

That night we then ride the ship heading to the mainland.

At last, we’re going to the capital city.
