Chapter 48: Monster

Swing my sword in full force. I slashed the black robe man with my wind blade. He tries to deflect with the same skill, but this time his wind blade wasn’t able to destroy mine.

The sharp blade-like wind was launched. Creating a straight line carve through the walls.

“That wind blade was in another level, but the experience between us is rather high. Someone like you will never win against me.”

The assassin strikes with his sword. He attacked me with a rapid s***h. A metallic sound was heard through the area.

His speed accelerated and suddenly appeared behind my back instantly.

I was defenseless in my back and he then attempted to cut down my nape. The princess using her water magic created a ball of water. She fires the huge ball of water toward the assassin stopping his attack.

Followed by the princess magic. Rumi charges and delivers a sword skill.

“Heavy impact!”

The assassin avoided the sword and put distance between us.

Still, I don’t have any plan on giving him a chance to breathe.

“Air force!”

I used air force on my self launching my body through the air at incredible speed. While my body was traveling in the air. I spin my body and chanted another skill.

“Whirlwind!”

I block my sword with his sword. The spark of our sword was seen and we started looking eye to eye. I was still in rage and aggression. Meanwhile, the assassin is making a sinister smile.

His smile is pissing me off. I will definitely kill this bastard.

“Wind cross blades!”

He used his own skill and attack with cross pattern. I counter his attacks with “Wind force!” and create an explosion-like effect from the wind. Making both of us flew away from each other.

The air force made the glass in the corridor blast broke. Making a noise that was heard on another floor. The officials in the ship started to have investigated and running in our direction.

“I apologize for underestimating the three of you. But I can’t handle battling more adventurers…”

He put his sword back on its sheath on his waist and turn his back. He enveloped his body with wind magic making his body lighter and faster.

He then runs away at a fast speed.

“I won’t let you escape without telling me what happened to Taki and Yumi.”

I crouched my knees and fix my gaze on the assassin. Creating an imaginary line. I set myself on a travel trajectory where my ability can go through without any casualties.

One straight line.

“Lightning swift!”

Accompanied with the chant. My body suddenly moves at a lightning-fast speed. Wing my blade in my hand I swing my sword and s***h the assassin.

He was in pure shock after seeing me being able to keep up with his speed.

His bones were broken and he was slammed to the wall after receiving my attack. He immediately gets a healing potion to heal his injuries. But before he was able to drink. I kick the potion bottle away from my hands.

“Tell me where are Taki and Yumi?”

“I don’t know, maybe they are already dead after the other assassin play with them. Well, they are both cute and they caught the interest of those other assassins.”

“Play with them? What did you mean?”

“Hehehehehe.”

He laughs hysterically. 

With my emotion taking over my body. I deliver sever his right hand with a sword.

“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!”

A scream of pain was heard from his mouth. I grip my sword once again and cut his right foot.

“Where are those other assassins?! Answer me!"

“Even I die I won’ tell anything. That’s how our organization work.”

If that’s the case…

I cut his other hand making him lost the ability to swing a  sword forever. He was crying in pain. Screaming while his scarlet blood gushes out from his body.

The officials are still not keeping up with us. I decided to take his body from me. Taking him to the part of the ship where no one can find us.

In the underground area, there was a place with the only pipe and steams. It was dark and almost no light. The place was wide enough.

I threw his body on the floor. We were struggling to move. I wark his mouth with a thick rope. Stopping his voice to come out.

“You’re crying? After those bad things you did… You dare to cry?”

Irritated with his expression. I grip my sword and s***h his body. I cut his body little by little.

A slow painful death for the man that kills my friends.

With desperation, he manages to cut down the thick rope with his fangs.  He turned his face on me. The confident face with a sinister smile. Is now in despair and desperation.

“I… have… a child… I can’t die yet. Have mercy…”

Evil people don’t deserve to live. Evil people go to hell. Evil people are just monsters in human skin.

Mother… I didn’t murder anyone. I’m not murdering anyone. I’m just killing these monsters in human disguise.

Those kidnappers and this one.

I’m not doing anything wrong. This is right, he must pay a hundred times more than this.

Because… because… Because of him, I will never gonna be able to see these smiles again.

“Die you monster!”

I slashed him over and over again. His body is not moving anymore but I still swing my sword. The blood slashed through the area. Tainting the floor and the pipes.

I didn’t know how many slashes I did, but he certainly didn’t look human anymore.

But still in my heart. This is not enough. I will cut down your head open and put some sense to you literally.

I swing my blade. Before it hits the head. My body was stopped. A familiar girl grabbed my arms. Behind my back, someone hugs me. It was too dark I was not able to recognize them.

“Laura this is enough… Enough Laura….”

As the ship moves the window and light shifted. It lights up the dead body of the assassin and beside me. My friend Taki grabbed my arm tightly. Behind me is Yumi hugging me from behind.

“Don’t be like my big sister… Don’t grow up like her Laura.”

Taki? Yumi? Shed tears upon seeing them. I was very happy that I’m able to see them again.

“We deal with the other three assassins on our own. The assassins are all killed. Let's go outside Laura.”

Taki said.

“Taki… I didn’t kill a human… I’m not a murderer. I killed a monster. This is a monster. It’s just a  monster.”

Taki was astonished looking at me. I don’t know the reason behind her melancholic expression.

But the main objective of adventurers is killing the demons and monsters. Killing him means I made the world an easier place to live in.

Taki leaps and embraces Laura.

“I won’t be leaving at your side anymore.”

“Same here.”

I didn’t know it till now. Laura is capable of doing such things. She’s mess up and her sense of understanding was abnormal. How a sweet caring person like her was able to do such a thing?

Taki thought as she embraced Laura with her arms.

Leaving the underground part of the ship. Laura was drenched with blood. Taki pulled her tainted clothes and cover her blazer.

The princess saw how horrible thing and expression Laura has on her face. Even the princess and Rumi were left in anxious expression seeing her.

Laura has hollow eyes and walked only with Taki’s assistance.

“The assassins are defeated. Now it’s our turn to make a request. Will you rent a room for the three of us on this ship. And also prepared money for our ticket for the ship heading toward Everfloria city.”

Taki said to the princess.

The princess nodded and agreed.

“Princess is there something wrong.”

“I just can’t believe a sweet girl with brilliant color of her soul. Can suddenly turn her color into a sinister dark tone. This is the first time I ever encounter something like her. I was worried about her future. I can feel that she’s the type of person that will walk through darkness… I will pray for her not taking that path.”
