Chapter 32: Battle Frontier (Part 2)

Three days had been passed. From Everfloria city we go to Witchport city port. To ride a ship leading to the place called Battle Frontier.

While riding the ship. I was wondering what kind of place the battle frontier was. I was excited and full of expectations.

Reaching the Battle Frontier. All of the expectations didn’t let me down. Battle Frontier is really awesome in my perspective. The place is very fancy. The Island was constructed like an amusement park. There are many things to do in this place.

There are also many people wearing different clothes. Many different types of people.

Before we go on our own on the Island. We see Karyll goes off from the ship back to Central city.

“You girls should take care of yourself.”

“Master Karylll, where can we find your assistant in this huge place?”

“He’s supposed to pick up all of you, but it seems like he’s late again. That man really has trouble with his sleeping habits. With that said… I guess I need to tell you his address then.”

Karyll from her pocket gets a paper and writes the complete address of her assistant. Who will teach us the basics of making an ability?

She handed over the address to Taki. Taki receiving reads.

“Westside, Apartment A,  Room 203…”

“Remember girls… This is a mission I’m giving to you. I’m making the bars higher this time because you all have an understanding of using magic. Instead of having 20 consecutive wins in a battle event. Each of you should have 50 consecutive wins. After having 50 consecutive wins. An adventurer will be given a symbol. A symbol that recognizes you to the feat you achieved.”

“I feel like it’s unfair… But Yumi and Laura indeed have understanding in magic.”

Taki said and then make a sigh to put relief to her distress.

She did tell me before that she goes in this place and has 20 consecutive wins. Doing it again is an easy task for her. Maybe that’s the reason Master Karyll put high bars this time.

We are still entry-level pupils of master Karyll… Instead of her assistant will teach us the basics of ability making.

Turning my body to the wide place called Battle frontier. I take a good look at it. Seeing the giant tower in the middle. I was in a state of shock seeing how tall the tower was.

“That tower.”

“I can’t even see where it’s going… It’s so high.”

Yumi and I look above.

“That place is called the battle event tower. That’s the place where the battles will take place. In that tower the higher you get the stronger the enemy. And of course, you will earn money.”

Master Karyll said.

“It’s very nostalgic. It takes 6 months for me to achieve having 20 consecutive wins.”

“... Eh? That means your weak.”

Yumi muttered.

“Weak? People in the tower are no ordinary you know. They are not just adventurers. Wearing adventuring armor and fighting monsters. The adventurer in this place is called elite and real adventurers.”

Real adventurers? Looking around I barely see anyone who looks like an adventurer They are all in their casual clothes. Looking at myself with my dull-looking clothes. I feel kinda jealous.

“You two are really close…”

“In what side?! 2x

“Anyway, let's go to the shopping district I will give you all something before I leave.”

With that decided we go to the shopping district. We enetered the clothing shop and after master, Karyll takes to the store owner. The store owner then takes the measuring tape and takes a look at our bodies.

She stares at me with serious eyes

What is with this woman she is creeping me?

“Just stay calm… I’m not really staring at you… I’m measuring your body.”

“Huh?”

“It’s the tailor’s ability. Just stay still and stand up straight Laura.”

“Roger!”

The store owner did the same to Yumi and Taki. After taking all of our measurements. The store owner gets a fabric and with astonishing speed. She started sewing.

The speed was amusing and almost looks impossible. The way her hands move is really fast and accurate.

Glitters are spearing out of her hand as she sews the clothe sin incredible speed.

After five minutes the clothes were done. It was then given to the three of us.

Wearing it… I feel really happy.

This is my first clothes to have after traveling after all. It’s gray color but looks fashionable. We are all wearing school-like uniforms. A gray sailor suit with a gray skirt and black outlines. And for the last touch was the blue ribbon on our chest.

“Looking good all of you… I wish I have three children look at all of you. You’re all so cute.”

Master Karyll told us and embrace us with her arms tightly. She hugs us and puts her cheeks closer toward us and rubs.

This is the first time I saw Master Karyll’s soft side after being within her three days.

We then left the dress-making store and goes to a restaurant to eat lunch.

As usual, I have my fried chicken meal. Taki and Yumi also ordered their favorite meal. Taki likes omelet rice. Meanwhile, Yumi was eating hamburgers.

The food was delicious and my tummy was delighted.

“I almost forget… I’m giving you each starting money. All give you 100,000 mels for started.”

“100,000?!”

The amount of money makes a huge shock on my body. How can master Karyll hand over such an incredible amount of money just like that? Is this how adults works? Still, money is money. I know how important money was.

Handing it over with a calm face is not normal at all.

“What’s wrong Laura? Do you want more?”

“No no no no! Well, it’s too big honestly.”

“Well, I think it’s just good. This place is very expensive and I gave the three a mission to have 50 consecutive wins. It’s just right to give you all a month worth of allowance.”

A month? With this money, I can live for a year.

“It’s fine Laura… Just like Master said this place is very expensive. That fried chicken meal you just eat was 1000 mels. This omellete was 1500 mels and that hamburget was 800 mels.”

“This fried chicken was that expensive… No wonder it’s so good.”

“Everything in this place was high class. This is not just a  place for the adventurers to battle. This place is like a tourist spot. Because it serves entertainment to the richer… Don’t worry about the place to stay. You all can stay in his apartment. He's a good guy, he might have liked little girls but he won’t lay hands on you.”

Just what kind of man is her assistant anyway? Hearing those words didn’t make me feel comfortable at all. But it’s master Karyll, that man must be a respectable man.

Yumi whose sitting beside me puts her hands on my shoulder.

“Don’t worry Laura… If that assistant guy did something weird to us. I will smash his head and severe his limbs.”

“Please don’t say that while we’re eating…”

“I apologize I’m very sorry.”

Yumi said and bow her head immediately.

While we are delighted enjoying our meal and a fat guy approached us. It’s a man in his middle age.

“Master Karyll… I’ve been looking for you on the port. Where have you been?”

“Oh… Great timing?”

Is this old fat guy was the assistant? It’s not right to judge the book by its cover but… Still, I don’t feel safe at all being with this man. Also, we’re going to sleep on one roof for a month.

Absolutely No! No!

“Three of you please don’t look at him like that… He might get some few criminal records of assaulting a girl, but now he is a good person.”

Hearing that makes me feel worst than before honestly.

Should I close my eyes and accept this truth? I’m already in this place. I should just do my best not to lose something very important while being here.

“Master why his man is here?!”

Taki slams the table and looks at the old man with glaring eyes.

“I won’t forgive him at all… Honestly, I want to kill him. This man is the man that stole my underwear before.”

“That’s in the past now.”

“Don’t worry, he's under my control… He will never gonna do anything bad on you ever again.”

Another man arrived and this time it’s a young man that seems to be in his twenties. He looks average-looking with average height.

“His average.”

“What did you say? Anyway, this man was contracted with my ability he won’t do anything weird, or else it will kill him. His serving me as a servant for now as punishment for what he did  to you.”

“Assistant is here.”

Turning my glance on Taki. I saw Taki’s flustered face. It’s quite rare to see. Don’t tell me she like’s him.

I look at Taki with a smug face.

She started to blush even more and panicky averted her eyes away from me.

“I’m master Karyll’s assistant… My name is Glenn nice meeting all of you. Also, I might be average looking but my skills are not average at all.”

He said it as he turns his head toward my direction.

Did I hurt his feeling earlier?
