Chapter 31: Battle Frontier (Part 1)

The case of the missing children was solved. The saved children all went back to their parents and the wounded child was treated immediately.
The kidnappers were taken to the prison immediately same with the knights in the city teaming up with them.
Unfortunately, some children are still missing. Leaving they're lived once into sadness.
Now I’m in the apartment of the state knight called Karyll. After asking her to teach us to become ability users she let Yumi and I go with her.
Taki is very happy that she gave us her training, but this training is not what I really expected it to be.
“This is boring…”
“I know right…”
Yumi and I were sitting on the floor for about four hours already and with five stacks of books on our heads.
We’re asked to concentrate and meditate for many hours until she said enough. That’s the first step of our training Master Karyll said to us.
Taking the task with seriousness. Yumi and I both honestly seat down and meditate.
“The book in you’re head was trembling.”
Master Karyll said who just arrived in the apartment with Taki and Kuro on her back. They have bags on their hand full of food and necessities.
Seems like they go shopping. I’m jealous, but I don’t have the money.
I remember… I’m flat broke.
Did I really have time to do this? I can’t stay in this apartment there is no room for us here.
I have some money to last for three days I need to do something to earn money.
“Stop bullying the kids and let them have some rest.”
Kuro said and sit down on the chair.
“I’m not bullying them… Still, it’s about four hours, and look at the magic in your body. I can tell that you didn’t leave your seat for about four hours already. I understand now how serious both of you in learning how to become an ability user… Both of you can stand up now.”
Yumi and I look toward each other with gleaming smiles on our faces. She then tried to stand up.
After standing up we both make some jump and stretch our body for a while.
My body became numb after seating for four hours straight. And after jumping and stretching. The flows of my blood became normal and it feels great.
I feel like my body became lighter.
“YOu’re both lucky… I used to meditate for 20 hours before… Master is not being fair.”
Taki complained and pouted her mouth.
“I’m always fair… You always make the books on your head fall, that's why it takes 20 hours. Anyways, congratulation on passing my entry-level test in becoming my pupil. I haven’t introduced myself yet. My name is Karyll a state knight. If you have a question then feel free to ask me…”
Yumi raised her hand.
“... Go ahead.”
“Are you in a relationship with Kuro?”
Kuro who’s drinking his coffee threw up after hearing Yumi’s question. Karyll was also blushing bright red.
“W-What kind of question is that?”
“Master I’m also curious? Master and Kuro are together every time right? Did you have a special relationship with each other?”
Taki also asked.
I’m not really the kind of girl that always thinks about romance, but Taki and Yumi are girls that have interested in those kinds of stuff.
“Wel… Um… It’s quite obvious but Kuro and I started dating this past day… Thay why his always with me.”
“Did you kiss?”
Master Karyll and Kuro look toward each other and after that, they blushed out and immediately turn their heads away from each other.
Looking at their action. Looks like they really did it.
I think it’s my turn to ask.
“Master can I asked you a question?”
“Go ahead, Laura. Just make sure it’s not related to my dating life.”
“Well, I’m don’t really care about that, but did you know something like work for me. Unfortunately. Adventurer guild is not accepting 12 years old to take a quest. Because of that, I’m in trouble finding work. I wonder if there is a way to earn money.”
With that said. Karyll put her finger on her chin and think.
“I knew one but it’s very difficult… Thinking about it. This might help both of you and Yumi to prove yourself more on me.”
“You’re not accepting us?!”
“Well, I said entry-level… It’s not official yet. I let Taki join a battle event before… And has 20 consecutive wins in that event. I will enter both of you in that event too. Every win you earn money. Is that sound great Laura?”
Kuro look at Karyll and said:
“You’re so harsh with this kids… They are 12 years old. They suppose to play and learn in school.”
“That might be true, but learning things through experience is a different thing. Just by judging the firmness of magic in Laura and Yumi. I can tell their potential. Also, in that event, they will be able to show their colors to me properly in time of hardship.”
Master Karyll turned her face toward us with her smile.
“... Are you going to become my pupil?”
“Yes!”
Yumi and I replied with strong voices.
“Good… Then tomorrow be prepared I’m going to bring you to the battle event area… The battle frontier.
Battle frontier. It sounds fun and it’s the first time of me hearing about that place. The battle event must be full of experienced fighters. I have some battling experience now and battled a high-ranking demon and few adventurers. My abilities and power. I have still blur insight into my own skills, but maybe when I enter that place.
I will have a clear reflection of myself. It’s whether I’m ready to travel in this world or not.
Wait, I have something to do.
“I planned to go to Central city to investigate something. Is Battle frontier that far?”
“Battle frontier is located in the remote island in the far north. It’s far from the central city that was located in the center of the continent.”
I plan to investigate the happening two years ago. I wanted to know if Mayu is truly executed by the knights. If so, then I wanted to visit her grave.
Thinking things thoroughly. Having a teacher to teach me this advanced technique is rare and it’s almost a miracle that I manage to find someone.
I don’t want to lose this opportunity.
“Have you decided already Laura?”
“Well, I’m going to Battle frontier… I wanted to prove myself that I’m strong.”
I replied.
“I will then escort you to Battle frontier and leave both of you there for about three months.”
“Eh? Why was that?”
“Then who's going to teach us?”
Yumi and I were puzzled after knowing that Karyll is not the one going with us in the battle frontier.
“Sorry… But I’m in the middle of something… Some troublesome was a threat to the country. Because of that, I don’t really have time this month… But don’t worry my assistant is there and he will teach you the basics.”
“So you’re not our master after all.”
Yumi said with cold eyes.
“Taki will also go with both of you to train with her… While both of you are joining the battle event. After three months I will meet up with you three in the central city to teach you. There I will decide if you three are really qualified to become my student or not.”
“It’s been a while since I go there. It’s a place full of battles. And it’s really great-looking place. Its’ an attraction spot after all.”
Taki said.
Hearing that makes me feel more excited going there. This will become my first time going to that place.
It’s another adventure.
