Chapter 42: Battle Frontier (Part 12)

After that incident, Yumi woke up after a half-hour. She woke up on my lap. Waking up she immediately gets up her head and accidentally bumping into mine.

My head hurt the same as her. I put my hands on my forehead and rub it. Unlike mine Yumi’s head was bleeding.

“Laura’s head is hard as a rock.”

She gets up after that ad look around the hallway.

Looks like Yumi is still searching for her big sister in this area.

“She’s not here anymore… You’re big sister already leave this place with Lei Mei.”

“My big sister is with Lei Mei. There’s still a huge chance of meeting her… I wanted to defeat my big sister so badly. But my strength is not enough. Taki and Yumi said as they look at the popping-hot hot buns on the paper bag.

Looks like they already forget the painful things Lei Mei did to them.

“Ahem… T-Thank you… These hot buns will help us a lot. Tell Lei Mei that I’ll be going on the 50th floor to face her head-on.”

“My lady is also looking forward. She saw great potential in you. She knows that she will have a great time fighting you on that battlefield. With that said, I must leave. Three of you must take care of your selves.”

After saying that Shen leaves.

At that very moment, our number was called out and our next battle was set. To earn some money, we need to reach the 15th floor.

That means we need to win his five-match immediately and climb up or else we’ll be sleeping on the streets. Good thing that Lei Mei gives us the food we can get through this day.

Since we’re still on the lower floors. There are only a few strong adventures in this place. It’s rare to see one like Lei Mei on this floor. Strong players can be seen on floor 20 or higher.

It's said that a strong magic user will appear there. I must be cautious and not underestimate my enemies. I don’t know what kind of enemy I’ll be facing after all.

Taki, Yumi, and I were called out and we battle our next five opponents. I was glad that the next five opponents were easy. They are all defeated with one attack.

As usual, I pushed them out of the ring using my wind magic. I always win by default after that. The audience also looks bored and astonished at how fast the fight was.

I guess, it takes less than a minute to defeat one. With this pace, I might get to the 20th floor in no time.

With our fast pace fight, we reached the 15th floor immediately and undergoes for another five fights to earn some money.

“Winner player Laura!”

The announcer said.

That’s my 20th consecutive win. I receive money after the battle and I go straight to the hallway. Running I saw Yumi. I was then wondering and look around.

“Where is Taki?”

“Taki is still there on the battlefield. Taki is facing someone very troublesome at this moment.”

I turned my head on the monitor with Taki’s fight displaying on it. A man wearing clown-like clothing and juggling knives was Taki’s opponent.

“That man can use Ability and Taki is having a hard time dealing with him.”

I seat down on the chair beside Yumi and watched the fight together with her.

“Hehehehehe… I’m not an ordinary jester I should say. My magic knife is the best. It's sharp and can multiply itself. No one in this world can guess how many knives I have on my sleeves.”

The clown-like man then threw a knife at Taki. While in the air the knife multiplied into ten knives. Taki dodges the knives by running sidewards.

“Hehehehe… That’s not the only use my knives!”

With the clown’s command, the knife then rises back in the air and float.

“What is this! What is this! The Clown is making magic that was unique and rarely seen on the battlefield.  Looks like Clown can manipulate his knives freely. Player Taki is currently in trouble. Still, none of them was able to give damage to each other the score was still zero. When did this fight going to be over!”

An ability to control knives. The knives can multiply and manipulate freely by the controller.

The knives then follow Taki’s location on the battlefield. With Takis speed boost magic she was able to dodge the knives but that‘s not always the case.

With that many knives, Taki was given some scratch on her body.

“Player clown gained 2 points!”

Taki looks troubled and got irritated. She stood up and give the clown her raging gaze.

“Hehehehehe… Just give up little girl. With my ability, you will never gonna stand a chance. Ability user and magic-user are on a different level.”

“I knew that, that’s why I’m also going to get serious. I wanted to fight and win by just using my physical energy, but this is an unavoidable event. I should not hold back.”

Taki said and held her bells in her hand. The clown then senses that Taki is really being serious on her side. The clown pulled ten knives from her pocket. Five from her left and five from her right.

“Hehehehehe… Jesting in this situation… Hehehehehe… Then I should dice you!”

He throws the knives and then it multiplies.

“Thousand knives shower!”

“Sound skill: Explosion!”

The sound produced in her bell became destructive and released a powerful explosion. The force made with the explosion repelled the knife going toward Taki.

The clown then got an anxious expression on her face. Sweat fell and he started looking around his surroundings.

The explosion made also made a smoke screen Taki used to hide.

“Hehehehehe… I’m not afraid in a runt like you!”

Emerging from the smoke Taki appeared beside Clown.

“Then let me show you my ability. This is one of the powerful things you can do with sound waves.”

“Ability? You’re also an ability user.”

“Thunderstorm!”

At the moment Taki swings her bells. A powerful thundering sound echoed in the whole stadium. The thunderstorm produces lightning that strikes the clown. The clown was blasted out of the ring instantly and the battle stadium was made a small created on it.

Everyone was astonished at what Taki just presented. The announcer's jaws fall in shock.

“W-We… W-We… We have a winner winning her 20th consecutive wins Player Taki!”

After a minute of shock and silence. The crowd then cheered up.

Taki sure grows a lot after learning how to use her ability. After winning and receiving her reward. She goes straight to us.

“Taki congratulations!”

“Taki my friend that’s great you can control your ability freely.”

“Well, that’s not really the case… Laura… Yumi… Please take care of me…”

Taki then fell unconscious before she fell. Yumi and I catch her.

Seems like her using that powerful ability had its side effects. Since we earned money in the fight we got from floor 15 to 20. We have money to rent a room. There we can have a peaceful sleep tonight.

Tomorrow we’re going to battle the players on floors 21 to 30. The difficulty was now set at a higher level. On those floors, we’re going to encounter magic-user and ability users.

It’s going to be great to test my own skills.

“I’m excited for tomorrow.”
