Chapter 56: Laura vs Nightshade

“Sorry but this is the only location where I can land down. The island strictly prohibited the entrance of other people or adventurers from another country or city. I don’t know the reason behind it…”
A city that prohibited the entrance of other people? That was kinda shady.
We landed in the western part of the island. The place doesn’t even have a single person around. It was so silent and dark in this place.
I get the quest poster to review the quest. Reading it again. The quest is mainly about monster hunting. According to the quest, we can’t kill the monsters instead the monster need to be capture alive. Monster captured will be reward 100,000 mels.
I thought that was too much for a monster, but with 100,000 mels is still a lot of money. Money is important after all. I’ll do my best to capture these monsters.
“Luara’s eyes are glittering!”
Ryuu with her owl leaves before she was discovered and three of us walked around the city.
Taki looks so puzzled and seems to be in deep thought.
“What happened in this city? This city is supposed to be a crowded city because many people are working here. This place was deserted it looks like a ghost city.”
“It's also giving such chilly air in the atmosphere.”
I rub my hands and tried to gain heat from them. Turning my head around. I was shocked when I looked at Yumi. I was startled seeing her red eyes.
“Laura?!”
“Sorry, for my action… I never thought that you're eyes were glowing in the darkness.”
Yumi pouted her mouth and look toward me with her disappointed expression.
“Laura hurt my feelings. I feel very angry. Our eyes are only glowing when we feel serious.”
“I see, then Yumi is taking this seriously. It's better than Laura whose only thing about money. First, we should make contact with the person who sends this quest. We need to gather information. Like where is the last place the monster appeared? This island is quite big and our searching will take many days before accomplishing it.”
Taki said.
Turning my eyes in the street post. I saw the name of this place.
Eight blocks. This place is called the Eight block. Naming it by number is an easy way to remember it.
We then continue walking in this street and from the dark alley. I was startled again and got shocked.
“Red eyes! Red eyes! Red eyes!”
Yumi pouted her mouth again and averted her eyes completely from me.
“I hate you, Laura!”
Yumi said and she started shedding tears.
“Laura, you're joke is taking too far. You should apologize to Yumi. Everyone has their flaws. Everyone is not perfect. Laura must learn that lesson.”
“It's not Yumi… Look in the dark alley!”
I raised my arms and pointed out the red-eye using my finger. Taki and Yumi turned their heads in the direction and saw the giant red eyes I’m talking about.
Yumi and Taki jump in fear upon seeing it. The red-eye started to move closer and closer to us. And the moonlight reveals its identity.
It's a giant white mound monster with red eyes.
“Ahhhhhhhhh!” 3x
The three of us screamed.
But surprisingly the mouse monster is also screaming seeing us three screams. “Eeeeeck!”
The monster jumps to the side of the wall and then runs up to the roof.
Mice and rats are more afraid of humans than humans are of them so they try to stay hidden and in their own habitat. Sometimes, they enter our home because they smell food or because there is a point of entry they can access.
I read that from the book a long time ago.
Still, we can’t let this opportunity slide from our sight.
The monster we’re about to hunt already shows itself. All we need to do is to capture it and finished the quest.
“It's the monster!”
“We need to chase it down.”
The three of us nodded to each other. We jump to the wall and run to the roof. We tailed the monster.
“What is this? Everyone looks down to the ground.”
“Eh? There are lots of these monsters here? Where did this monster come from?”
Thre is about twenty of giant mouse monster running around. They meet together and run in one group. Their speed is overwhelming and the three of us are having trouble reaching them.
“We need to get closer or We’ll lose trace.”
“Then, we need to attack it. I’ll slow down its movement and during the monster got exhausted from the fight. We can capture them.”
Yumi said and get her newly acquired weapon. On her hand was a dagger.
Suddenly behind the three of us, one of its kind appeared out of nowhere and opened its mouth. From its mouth, a beam made of pure magical power was released.
We dodge the beam and destroyed our formation. Yumi fell to the ground. While Taki rolled in the roof. I’m the only one that is left standing and running.
Taki and Yumi stood up immediately each of them got to face one mouse monster.
“We’ll go to take care of this one. Laura hurries up and corners the monsters.”
“Leave it to me!”
I replied. I pulled my sword from my waist. Using wind skills I was able to make my body mass lighter and move faster than I normally do.
I giant mouse monster came to stop me, but I was able to deflect it away from me. I slam my sword on its back and made it down to the ground.
That’s one down. I need to knock out all of them.
I raised my speed and chase down the remaining monsters.
From the window. Suddenly a hand emerges and grabbed my clothes. The unknown person then throws me to the wall inside one of the buildings.
The force he uses is rather heavy. It hurts my back. I stood up and made a fighting stance with my sword.
In front of me is a pitch-black-haired man with pure black eyes. Looking seriously he asked me.
“Who are you working for?”
“I have nothing to tell to you. We have job to do stay away from our way before I s***h you down.”
“I’m asking you a question? All you need is to answer it. Who are you working for? Are you one of them?!”
“I don’t know what kind of nonsense are you sprouting but I don’t have the luxury to waste time with you.”
I swing my sword and cast a wind blade. The sharp blade image flew toward the unknown man. He made a quick move and chanted his magic.
“Repulse!”
A magic circle appeared in front of him and catch the wind blade. It then made my wind blade bounce back in my direction.
I leap sideward to avoid the wind blade. I get up and run to him. I jump to the air and swing down my sword.
“Air force!”
He directly takes the air force and then force himself forward and grabbed my sword. His eyes were so fearless. He then kicks me away in distance. Losing my grip on my sword.
My sword… My mother's sword.
“Give me back my sword!”
“This sword looks important to you… Don't worry, I’m not interested in it. You can have it back. But first, you need to answer my question.”
“I don’t know anything. We’re just ordinary adventurers.”
I said and show my adventuring Identification card. He takes it from my hand and looks at it. He looks reads it thoroughly and looks closely at my face.
“I feel like I saw your face before. Where are you from?”
“I’m from Rum town.”
After I replied he give back the sword and turned his back.
“I’m sorry, looks like your not lying… I got the wrong person. This city is dangerous. It's not a place for youngsters like you. You can have this…”
He then gets candy in his pocket and places it in my hand.
“Candy?”
I was skeptical because the man that tried to hurt me earlier is acting so nicely.
After hurting me his now treating me like a kid. What’s wrong with this guy? It's like he turned 180 degrees transition in his attitude.
From the window. Taki and Yumi appeared.
“Laura!” 2x
Taki and Yumi with their weapon attacked the unknown man. He easily avoided Taki and Yumi’s attack and stepped back in a 10-meter distance.
“What are you doing to laura?!”
“You molester, assaulting Laura in a dark place like this.”
With the accusation. The man remains calm.
“I’m not doing anything inappropriate with that girl. Anyway, I have to leave. I gave things to do.”
Before he leaves… I approached and asked.
“Who are you?”
“It's Nightshade… My name is Nightshade.”
I jump away and instantly disappeared. What is with that guy? Anyway, he looks very strong. Despite having little magic inside of him.
I then peeled the candy he gave to me and eat it.
Because of that event, we missed the group my monster running around.
That night was able to capture three monsters. There is still a lot of them roaming outside.
The monster hunting is far from over.
