Chapter 52: Night Alliance

A city often covered by clouds and smoke, with very active residents. The city was called Virbark city. After the happening last night. Yuri decided to go back to the Rumia kingdom and gather the necessary things to accomplished her goal.

Still, with Lei Mie with her, they entered one of the houses. Opening the door, another member of Night Alliance was seen.

This big house is the base used by Night Alliance. Even they are labeled as criminals they are not selfish people working for the sake of evil. Each of them has their own goal in their mind to accomplished.

There are about six of them in the room. A silent girl is busy reading books. A man sleeping normally. A young-looking man is busy eating popcorn while watching a movie on the television. An unknown man wearing a bear costume. A drunk girl with liquor in her hands.

They are all busy doing their own things.

Yuri walked to the girl busy playing games on the sofa.

“This game sucks but I love it…”

“Kaho did you decide already?”

Yuri spoke but she was ignored. The girl named Kaho continues playing her games. To caught her attention. Yuri immediately pulls the game console in her hand and made her chase for it like a kid.

“The two of you are the only close people I knew in this alliance.”

Lei Mei commented.

Yu Shen also arrived and on her hand was a  wrapped weapon. It immediately caught the interest of Lei Mei.

“What is this thing?”

“It’s a special weapon requested by Miss Yuri.”

Unwrapping the weapon. It's revealed to be staff with a huge magic stone.

Magic stones are used to amplify the magical power of the caster. Seeing the weapon Lei Mei was confused and turned her glance to Yuri.

“I have never seen you using magic Yuri. For what reason did you order this one.”

“I’m not the one who's going to use that anyway.”

The girl named Kaho desperately reached her hand toward the game console from Yuri. But Yuri’s movement was too fast for her and all of her attempts were a lead failure.

“Give me back my game! Give me back my game!”

Kaho protested. She then charges. Yuri easily dodges her after that and she accidentally crashed to the wall and the picture frame falls on her head.

Kaho’s eye’s whirled and she gives up.

“Then, who using this staff?”

Lei mei asked.

“You’re the one who’s going to use it. I’ll explain things to you later. But for now, I must convince his good for nothing fellow.”

“Who are you calling good for nothing?! I’m not dumb enough to battle those shadow monsters. It’s a mission given to you and you accept it. It’s your responsibility! If you're not cool with it… Master is easy to talk with. She will definitely forgive you for failing you’re mission.”

Yuri put both of her hands to the game console and tried to break it apart.

Kaho seeing it suddenly panic and cried.

“Don’t to that to Red phantom!”

“Red phantom?”

“That’s what she called this game console. She’s treating her game console like friends. Seeing one break in front of her eyes will definitely lead her to despair.”

Yuri said and slowly bend the game console using her hands.

“... Don’t worry! I’ll be your friend after breaking this console.”

Yuri made sweet looking smile for Kaho.

“You demon fiend! Emotionless b***h! You’re worst than monsters living in the dark territory! I hope you to die!”

Kaho yelled at Yuri with her crying face.

“Kuma, Kuma… It’s getting lively here. Everyone can have some.”

An unknown man wearing a  bear costume said. And offered a tray full of cookies some walked and take one for themselves. Except for the sleeping members. The drunk girl and the resting man.

“Kuma is really happy that everyone likes my cookies.”

No one knows but inside the costume, he is smiling cheerfully.

“How are things going in your mission, Yuri?”

“It’s hard the northern kingdom is already taken over by the shadow monsters. But I can save the princess. I’m sure with that.”

“You’re so cool Yuri, that’s expected of you after all. Meanwhile, I nearly failed my mission.”

The girl talking to Yuri is the bookworm named Myne. She started being friends with Yuri after seeing Yuri reading a book. After that, she started recommending more books to Yuri.

Yuri took something from her bag and presented it to Myne.

“I already read this one. I hate the middle part but the c****x is really great. For a heroes tale, this one is a good read.”

Mynes’s eye’s sparkled after hearing those words.

“I’m really happy. Next time, I’ll be recommending another book to you. Look forward to it.”

Yuri nodded on Myne.

“I already give up! I’ll be going with you. Please! Just please! Don’t hurt my friend Red phantom!”

Kaho said and begs in front of Yuri.

“That’s a little pitiful Kaho. For a  girl in your age to beg like that.”

Lei Mei commented. Yu Shen walked beside her and whispered.

“My lady you're also like that few years ago.”

Being reminded of her previous life Lei Mei blushed. She turned her angry eyes on Yu Shen and tickles Yu Shen's body by rubbing her sides.

“I’m not a NEET anymore!”

“What’s happening? Why so noisy?! I’m still sleeping? I can’t stand up my eyelids are too heavy to lift.”

Said the drunk girl and after talking, she goes back into her dreamland.

Despite being called criminals. In this house, everyone is living a normal life like one big family. This is the kind of group Night Alliance was.

After some time. Yuri already explains their roles to Kaho and Lei Mei.

“Eh? I’m the one using this staff? But magic is not going to work against those monsters.”

Lei Mei asked with confusion.

“From a far distance, Lei Mei will launch her fire magic to distract the monsters. Using you as a distraction Monster will immediately think that they are being attacked by an outside force. Leading for the monster troops to respond… Then, using my ability “Passage worm” I will create a passage from underground that leads inside the castle. Yuri will sneak inside and save the princess.”

Passage worm ability can only be used on the soil surface.

Kaho explained. Yuri nodded briefly after hearing her.

“The mission said that all we need to do is save the princess and give her a happy life. The mission never said that we suppose to take down the shadow monster entirely. Even I tried saving them… There is no way I can succeed.”

Yuri then takes the cup of tea and takes a sip.

Lei Mei understands what Yuri saying. With more than a thousand shadows monsters in the kingdom. Attempting to save the kingdom with their own strength is just a foolish act.

In their mind, the kingdom is already beyond saving.

“Saving the princess and giving her happy life… Don’t you think it's a weird request? I mean, the king has the wealth to build a ship to evacuate all of his family. But he never does. What's the meaning of that?”

Kaho wondered. Her words put to silence in YUri and Lei Mei’s face. Yu Shen raised her hand.

“Maybe, the royalty was in trouble.”

“Trouble? Like they are cages or something… While Yuri and I were investigating. All I see in the castle was a group of shadow monsters. The only humans I saw were the people in the town.”

What if everyone was already dead? Why the king is allowing such evil acts to be done by the knights to ordinary civilians? It's simple by saying he wants to protect his family and sacrifice others, but I have a feeling that there is more into it that we didn’t know. Especially that these shadow monsters are monsters from the dark territory. These monsters will definitely bring catastrophe to the human world if not prevented immediately.

Having those thoughts Yuri looks to the book. The adventures of Emily. In the book, it was stated that Dark territory brings great disaster to the human world.

“Just what is that book, Yuri…”

“It’s a special book that contains some mystery about the world. It's also a fun novel with fun exciting stories. I love this book ever since I was a child. Moving on, I heard that the Rumia kingdom is investigating the Northern land kingdom…”

“That’s true… Many elite knights were already slain. The investigation was passed to State knights.”

The unknown man inside the bear costume joined the conversation.

“Sorry for eavesdropping. I overheard everything… I find that mission to be a rough one. Since I have had nothing to do these past few days I would like to be helpful to Yuri… Kuma Kuma…”

“Kuma… With you’re strength and ability you're definitely gonna be a great help in the mission… We still need three more days to investigate. We need to have the exact map of the castle and the place. We need to make sure the princess's location.”

“Take and Run… All we need to do is finish the mission as fast as we can.”

“Hahahaha… It’s like speedrunning a game.”

Yuri, Lei Mei, Yu Shen, Kaho, and Kuma. Decided to take the mission of saving the princess. As decided they study the map and geography of the kingdom.

After the investigation, they found out that the princess was located in the center of that castle. The young girl is still having a blissful life inside the castle without knowing the happening outside.

Three days later, 11:55 PM.

The five adventurers were already inset. The passage was already created and Lei Mei with a big staff on her and ride the flying Mantine monster.

“Are you ready my lady?”

“I’m ready.”

Kaho already opened the hole passage leading to the castle center garden. Still, with the distraction, there was a chance of them crossing paths with some monsters.

If such a thing happened she wanted to defeat them as fast as they can.

The clock hits midnight.

Above in the sky, Lei Mie raised her staff and gather a tremendous amount of fire energy.

“Emperor flame dragons Roar!”

Followed with her chant, a huge dragon created with flames emerges. The flaming dragon dashed forward and strikes the palace. Half of the shadow monster palace was destroyed.
