30 The following Friday, Paul woke more excited than nervous. Last week had been far less scary than he’d expected. Stuart had a way of making him feel comfortable and that his ignorance on various matters was normal. Over the past week, Paul had even managed to pray each morning. It was only a few minutes before he ran out of things to say or got spooked by the discomfort of not hearing anyone talk back, but it was a start. Paul had focused on thanking God for things this week as he’d noticed that both Stuart and his father always thanked God at the start of their prayers. As a result, he’d noticed how many things he’d taken for granted, even at work. Sister O’Reilly had nearly fallen over when he’d bought her flowers and thanked her for all her hard work.
