Alonso clenched his fist under the table looking speechless when Morris who still has a heart to speak said, "But we already have people in those positions Mrs. Wilson ? You didn't even care to look at the file Alonso gave you which has the recent list?" "I am sorry, what's your name?" Her eyes twinkled. "Morris, Ma’am." He replied. "Well, Morris, I am sorry to offend you which isn’t a very good start but, new government, new rules and new subordinates. I can't undo my decisions because of you or anyone here. Except you want to lose your job. Do you?" She asked lifting a brow. Morris swallowed hard. "No, Mrs. Wilson," he replied in a way that made her feel more proud about her position. "Good!" Her voice squeaked before she turned to look at Alonso as if she felt sorry for him, "And congratulations, Alonso, you have been promoted from chief advisor to personal assistant. You'll be working directly with me. Isn't that nice?" She said with a mocking smile. His jaw tightened. "You are only a little girl." Alonso's voice groaned. Her lips curved up into a thin smirk. "Who is now your boss,” She reminded him. “You don't have to remind me." She said out loud before whispering the next sentence to him, "It's a shame you are forty years older. I studied your file and now I will have to study to know who you really are. Don't worry, you will really love working for me." "I am working for late Morgan." He muttered angrily. "We are still on the same page, Alonso. I am his wife. Do I need to remind you?” Her brows furrowed slightly. “Sadly, Morris knows that and you don't." She said without taking her eyes off him until he did. Then she stood and declared "that will be all for today. The meeting is over. Morris, see to it that the promoted individuals are updated in the company's website before the next time I get to look at it. Understood?" "Yes, ma'am,” Immediately she left, the staffs began whispering among themselves of how obvious Wilson family was divided. Everyone had their favorites and most of them mocked how the sons might fight each other for Wilson’s wealth. A week after Morgan Wilson’s funeral, Ashley called a family meeting. She never expected that they were all going to show up but they did honor her call. She walked into the most beautiful relaxation area in one of the most expensive resort in the city where she had scheduled the meeting only to see Kyle, Jamal and Jake already seated, discussing and waiting for her arrival. Impressed to see all three of them, she exclaimed "Wow! You are all present." "Yes, we..." "Of course, we have to obey our stepmom." Kyle’s voice overshadowed Jamal’s. "That's great. I am glad we are starting off on the right foot. I don't wish to bore you with long vivid explanations but I would like us to introduce ourselves properly, then have fun throughout the day.” She said and Kyle and Jamal’s lips curled up in smiles, but she turned away from them, and focused on Jake who haven’t said a word. “Let's start with you, Jake." She asked, her eyes on him, her desires stirred as she took a closer look on his handsome face, pointed nose, she traced his fine jaw line with her gaze lowering to his lips. Kyle and Jamal thought her desire to hear from him first was because he is the youngest. "I thought the saying goes, ladies first?!" Josh exclaimed refusing to tell her anything about himself until she told them more about herself, already he had asked someone to gather details about her, he need to know her intention for marrying their late father. "She's not a lady, punk! She is your stepmom, I don’t need to remind you even if you’re an illegitimate child." Jamal scolded him mockingly, slamming Jake’s back head with his right palm. "You're never going to do that again to your brother, never again Jamal!" Ashley scolded Jamal instantly. Kyle had to raise both hands, nodding in agreement. "Please, Jake, proceed." Ashley begged. Jake squeezed his eyes shut for half a minute to calm his nerves then started talking when his eyes again, "I know I am an illegitimate son but I do not wish to be constantly reminded!" He muttered glancing once at Jamal. "I love my family even though I never get to spend much time with my own mother before she died..." "I’m sorry. She died recently?" Ashley sympathized. Jake’s brows furrowed, he hate how she looked at him. "No. She passed on when I was little. I barely knew her. I have her pictures on my wall though, so you don’t need to be sorry." He looked away from her, and cleared his throat. "I love my brothers even though I never get to spend much time with them and I know they love me too because they accepted me into the family when our dad told them about me. Jamal and Kyle may be stronger than me physically but I intend to be stronger in my mind and that is the reason why I love books. They help sharpen my mind." "Interesting. Let's hear Jamal speak now so they don't get bored." Ashley said in a way his brothers found funny knowing he was not done talking. "Ha-ha... Well, I love you Jake. I'm sorry for hitting you." Jamal apologized not willingly but to please Ashley because he has his eyes on her "I am Jamal Wilson and I am a great leader because I am strong. Don't take me to be proud, I am just saying what people see me to be..." "Hmmm, make it clear to her, you are a Mafia leader." Kyle said mumbling peanuts and lifting his win glass. Jamal narrowed his eyes when Kyle said it that way. “You see it that way and I can't help you anymore.” Jamal spoke evasively and watched Kyle gulp. Jamal turned to Ashley again. “As I was saying, I am capable of protecting you so you don't have to be afraid of anyone. Whoever threatens you in your place of work, just give me a call. By the way I am a year older than Jake. That makes me twenty four year old. That will be all for now." He concluded, spreading his arms on the chair he sat on. "So you are twenty three Jake?" Ashley asked still interested in Josh but no one noticed. "Twenty two, I’m turning twenty three next month." He said and looked away. "My turn!" Kyle exclaimed and sat up "I am five and I won't promise to protect you or sharpen my mind," he muttered, curving a smile on Jamal and Jake, ignoring his phone that kept ringing, before saying, "those are too easy to do, just know I will make you happy. Happy days and loving nights..." He winked at her flirtatiously, renowned for his pomposity. “Give me for a moment,” He gestured at his phone, Ashley looked away and he answered his call, "Baby, you've not been picking up, where the hell are you? I am so h*rny!" the whimpering voice of a female echoed he quickly used his hand to cover the speaker and spread a smile at Ashley whose gaze had shot at him. Kyle’s lips curled up slightly. “Excuse me, it's a client calling. I have to take this call." Ashley pushed her lower lip upward and nodded while raising her glass of wine as a gesture to mean, permission granted. She actually heard what was said because she was sitting close to him but she pretended not to. The minute Kyle stepped aside to take his call, the glass wall on the left side of the relaxation area shattered following a gunshot and heavy gun fires directed toward them. "Get down, Kyle! Everybody get down!" Jamal yelled and before Ashley could blink, there was a pistol in Jamal’s hand.
