Kapitulo 9
Cyrex and I walked into the event. His hand clipped my fingers, large rough fingers. He plants a kiss on my brow and walks into the jury room. A smile crept in as I saw him look at me. The corner of his lips lifted. I fixed my hair and went to see Miss Pangasinan. Her designer was busy fixing her gown while she waited for the sight of a man to never end.
I bob my brows. He winks at me. I turn round, feeling my cheeks will be blown into redness. He became serious as I returned my gaze to him, lifting a pencil to his lips and studying my face.
"Ladies," the host calls us, and we walk onto the stage, where we go on about our district. "People of the Philippines, how are you?"
The people were yelling after he said that. When I look at him, his eyes are focused on someone. I sigh and look to the side. Ghad is sitting next to a girl. They're occasionally chatting, but when the program starts again, I put my eyes back up at him.
"What best describes our top ten?" the host asks the woman beside him.
"Competitive. Powerful. Inexorable, "the woman replies.
He nods, as if he agrees with her. "Yes, they're really powerful, competitive, and what was that word again?"
"Inexorable," the woman replies, overenunciating the word.
The man grins. "My bad. Yeah, they're really unstoppable. And I can't wait to announce our top five. "
After his remarks, the music boomed throughout the whole room. A thrilling piece of music that will make you chill. A man walks onto the stage with a white envelop in his hand. My heart thumped as I saw Cyrex glaring at me with intimate contact.
"Ladies, you've been through a lot of tests. And fight as hard as you can, "he pauses and sighs. "But it's time to end your dream of being Miss Universe tonight."
The music starts to thump our hearts. The beats are hoarse and it sounds like a beating of the heart. This is exciting, but what excites me most is Cyrex steeples his fingers and looks at me seriously. I flashed him a smile and his cheeks turned red, and I smirked when I saw his lips moving, cussing.
"From ten gorgeous ladies: We will be heading down to... five," and he then paused and waited for the camera to focus on him. "Each contestant will be given a selected question from the jury, and they will randomly select it. You have forty seconds to answer the question and once you hear this," he pauses again and the system chimes. "It means your time is over."
I stood straight. Cyrex glanced at me. I gave him a blank look and guided my sight to Ghad. He was still talking with the girl, and they were chatting seriously. I smiled and set my sights on the man in front of me. His sight is nowhere to be found in me.
"The first contestant who will have the chance to take the spot is..." he pauses and looks at the camera man. "Pangasinan."
In astonishment, he brushed his face in astonishment and walked onto the stage. She walked slowly as if she was not in a hurry, and did her pose, then walked to the side of the stage to wait for the next lady to be called upon.
"Thank you, Pangasinan," he says, and takes a glance at the envelop. "Moving on to..." and again, he pauses and waits for the camera to zoom in. "General Santos City."
She was shocked and didn't know what to do. We gestured for her to move to the centre, and she delayed for a second before walking onto the stage. I smile. Based on their answer, they really deserve the spot. powerful compact of women who are not afraid to answer such confidential questions.
He pauses again while Cyrex looks at me with a drowsy look, pouting his lips. "Ilo-Ilo."
She walked into the centre of the stage and did her pose as instructed. I have been through a lot of sacrifices for this pageant and maybe I would do some things that would make me relax after.
"Moving on to..." he said at a minimal volume.
My eyes find him. He's pouting his lips and smirk. I can't help but grin at his actions. Cyrex has never changed since then. He's still the most passionate and pursuing man I've ever known. Despite the fact that he has changed his appearance, he has a growing beard, a quick approach to growth, and his hair is hyped up to appear cold and mysterious.
I'm praying and thrilled at the same time after this event. Yes, Miss Bacolod's right. Why do I always pursue this when I can't get into the big doom? I shook the thoughts in my brain and fixed my gaze on Cyrex, who was now leaning against the backrest. His hand was still on the table while the other was busy rubbing his chin, running his eyes down my body, and back into my eyes. He winks.
"Bulacan."
I sigh as I watch her walk onto the stage, strike her pose, and walk right into the ladies waiting for the last spot.I blow a deep breath as I look at my fans. I know they will still be there no matter what. Even though I have failed to get into the top twenty before, they still support me with warm impact.
"To those ladies who will not be called, your Miss Universe dream ends tonight," he said, and the music got even more horrific. I just looked at Ghad and he smiled at me, even though I was chilling deep inside. "The candidate who will take the last spot is..."
I closed my eyes quickly and craned my sight towards Cyrex. He gave me a nod and I felt like I was poured out of electricity. I slightly smile and bring my sight back to the front and the host's mic forward for him to speak.
I sigh, smiling at Cyrex. "Take your spot Cagayan de Oro," he says, and I sigh, smiling at Cyrex.
I smiled at my supporters and walked off the stage. You did your best, Fereine. Don't be sad. I went into my room, but someone was in a hurry to grab my hand and kiss me more passionately than before.
I clamp my hands around his neck and reply to his kisses. His hand skimmed down my shank and barely lifted it. I locked my leg at his waist and he lifted me into the room. He locked the door without ending our kiss. I frown when he looks at me. He's content. I see that in his eyes.
"You did your best, honey," he said and skid down his lips on my breast, sniffing and back to my lips. "I'm so proud of you. I'll never stop saying that."
I cupped his cheek. "I'm sorry... I didn't get into the final."
He brushes my face with his backhand. I look up at him and the point of his nose sniffs at my breast. I sigh and his sight bobs back at me, sad at the thought that I had failed again. I pulled him and kissed his lips.
He replies quickly, but then pulls himself up and lols at me. I knew he would stop only until I became more alive again. I looked at my gown and back at him.
"I know you're sad," he said, and he frowned, but he bobbed his eyes back at me. "But that wouldn't change the fact that I support you until the end. Only hell is my end. There's no end. This is infinity."
"Cy..." I didn't know what to say. "Can I ask you something?"
He rakes his hand through my hair. My lip suddenly heft at the vibration he's giving me now. You'll be okay, Cyrex.
"Sure, darling," he said, and he lifted me to sit on his lap, rubbing my waist with his rough hand.
"Is it true that you can achieve your dream?" I asked and his brows creased.
Instead of answering, he sighs and buries his face in my breast. His beard feels like my skin when his sight is back on me. I feel the sudden bliss in his eyes. My heart beats fast, horsing to the pinnacle.
"Darling, I know you failed this time," he said, and brushed my hair in his hand. "But never give up hope of realizing your ambitions. This is your dream, right?"
I nodded, slowly.
"Then live it," he remarks and kisses my neck. I stir my body on the side when his lips stop at my breast. "Your dream will never be dead if you work for it."
I cupped his face, bringing his cheeks back to me. His lips curl when I press them against his cheeks. God, he is so cute. Even he's so dark when you look at him.
"Last question, do you starve my body?" That's a pathetical question.
His eyebrows wrinkled. I looked at him and rolled my eyes.
"Come on, I know you want to have s*x with me. But you can't make it because I don't want it," I said, and his brows furrowed even more. s**t! What did I just say?
He pulled himself up. "Is that what you think of me? A womanizer? A fucker? "
I frowned, sighing. "I didn't mean that..."
"No, you thought that after I f****d you, I'd be gone like a fizz?" he asked seriously and removed my hands from his neck.
I reached for his face, but he put it away. What have I done? Damn! What should I do? I have to make up for it with him.
"I didn't mean to say you're a—" he cut me off by taking me off his lap.
"No! It's clear to me now, "he said firmly, and his hand curled. "You thought until now that I would f**k you before we will together?"
"Cy..." my voice sank as he sighed and looked away. Fix the mess, Fereine. Damn it.
"Ang hirap naman nito..." Huminga ulit siya nang malalim. "Ang hirap magkagusto sa 'yo dahil ang hirap mong iwasan."
My heart was swept with guilt.
"Ang hirap mong iwasan dahil kahit hindi ka gumagawa ng paraan ay nabibighani ako sa 'yo," he said and shook his head. "Of all the gorgeous ladies that were once linked to me, I chose you. I chose you more than anybody else. Because I thought that you would change after what I've done. "
"Darling..." I called him and he shook his head and sighed. My heart sank, my lips parted in awe.
"Let's cut this off."
"W-what..." I walked into him but he moved into the door. He looked over his shoulder and walked out of the room.
My words hung in the air. I walked back into my vicinity and thought about him. A while ago, I thought he would not follow me, but he did. He even inspected my leg if it hurt.
God, this is not good. I stir my fingers and rub the beadwork of my gown. He made me even stronger. What did you do to me, huh? Why was I feeling this? I must not feel this. He fooled you, remember? My subconcious speaks at me.
I sigh and walk into the mirror. I sat down in front of it. I look at myself in the mirror and I see the woman with the aches she felt when the man left her. I removed the pin in my hair and wiped my make-up off, seeing the hint of need in my eyes. I know I should have not done that to him. But it would never go away from my brain, not until I asked him.
Affirmation. My subconscious shouted at me again. Yeah, it was just a confirmation. I know he respects me, but he's a man, and like him, he has needs that should be sustained. I shook my head and removed my earrings and then my mascara. I can do this. Without him.
Now, that we're officially over.
