Chapter 11: Luna duties

The next morning I woke up to a empty bed. Ryland was no where to be seen. I look for a note also but found nothing. I just shrug my shoulders and walk to the shower, after that I would find Ryland and see what the plans for the day are. I grab some clothes on my way the go and turn the hot water on in the shower. I stand under the water for what feels like forever before I finally wash my hair and body. Stepping out of the shower goosebumps rise all over my skin from the temperature difference. "Ah there you are." I jump and look over to see Ryland standing in the door way. "Good lord you just gave me a heart attack." I say back and throw a glare his way. He just laughs and walks over to me and plants a kiss on my cheek. "sorry." He mummers in my ear and a shiver runs down my spine. I giggle and smile at him. "So whats the plans for today big guy?" The smile on his face fades away. "Well I have some things I need to attend to that will take me away from the pack for a few days. Im going to need you to watch over the pack and step up and lead the pack while im gone." My eyes go wide. "Youre shitting me." I stammer out. He backs away and lets out a long breath. "I know you havent gotten to get used to being a Luna yet, but its as good a time as any to gain the packs respect." He sounded so formal when he talked. :Who fed you that line?" I asked and eyed him suspiciously. He gave a nervous laugh and rubbed the back of his neck. "One of the pack elders." He said and I eyed him. "I see, so why are you leaving again?" I ask and walk around him and into the bedroom to get dressed. "Just some business." He said and followed behind me. "What kind of business?" I asked with my back to him. He hesitated. "A pack broke a treaty.." He replied and I instantly knew what kind of business he was talking about. "Ah, alright well I dont want to hear the details right now just please be safe." I say and hug him. "I always am." He replies with a soft kiss to my forehead.
I know Rylands pack is the worst pack to cross over so I dont even want to know what he will do to the pack who crossed him. I just need to keep my mind focused on running the pack, thats the Beta and Lunas jobs . Before Ry left to go get all the arrangements ready for him to leave this afternoon he had told me he set up a office for me right next to his so that I could have a place to work and feel comfortable. I smile at the thought. Im so grateful that the rumor's about him wasnt true. My phone buzzes in my pocket and i grab it and look. My moms calling again..she calls me twice a day everyday and I just ignore them. She betray me and im not sure I can over look that. I walk out of our room and head to where Ry had said my office would be. I open the door and its just plain. I beautiful desk and a desk chair is all the fills the room. "Guess I get to make it my own." I say and start looking around for decorations.
I wipe the sweat from my brow and look at my office. It looks so so much better. I went and printed some pictures of Ry and I and I even printed off some more pictures of me and my mom and brothers form my old pack. Some wolf whos name i cant seem to remember got me a sofa and some other comfy chairs that I placed around the room. Once I got the furniture in place I had walked to the garden and grabbed some fresh flowers. It looked pretty good if I say so myself. I walk over to the sofa and grab a picture of my mom and I and I stare at it. I miss her, alot. I just cant believe she would keep such a thing from me. A pain shoots through my chest and I a tear slid down my cheek. I grab my cell off of my desk determined to call her and ask how she is. I place the phone to my ear and then Ryland walks in the room. I quickly hand up and smile at him whipping the tears away. "Hey, whats wrong?" He asks and comes and wraps me in a hug. "Nothing nothing I just was thinking about my mom." I say and snuggle into him. "Well why dont you call her?" He asks me and I stare at him. I had confided in him about how betrayed I felt by my mom, so he knew what I meant. "Well I was about to when you walked in." I said and smiled at him. He made me feel better just by being close to me. He smiled down at me and kisses the top of my head. "I cant stay ling I just came to tell you by. We have to leave now so that e get there in the night. Call your mom, I know she misses you." I nod and hug him tighter before letting him go and taking a step back. "Now you take good care of my pack while im gone." He says laughing and starts walking backwards. "Oh I will, gotta whip this place into shape!" I say back and he is gone. I sigh and sink back into the sofa I was originally sitting on. I hope his pack wouldn't be to hard to run but I feel Im terribly wrong.
