Graduated
Sage POV:  The aroma of lilacs filled my nose as I stepped out my final medical school class. I was officially graduated. I was going to miss the beautiful flowers that always surrounded the campus lawns, but I was happy to begin the next chapter of my life. People were milling out of their classrooms and packing up their belongings. Besides I thought to myself , I’ll finally able to enjoy my first summer out of school. I was daydreaming of everything I had planned for the summer when I finally reached my car in the parking garage. Reality sat in and I slid into my white Mercedes.  The drive Newbourne Medical school was only about 30 minutes from my home. The drive always allowed for time to deep think and decompress before arriving home. This drive was a little different though. I’m 25 years old and I still haven’t found my mate. The thought was honestly depressing, my little sister Wren found her mate the day she turned 18. I couldn’t help but to think that maybe I was made to be alone. The thoughts quickly diminished when I arrived to the long driveway to my family’s home. My father always had guards posted at the front, as soon as they saw my car pull up they opened the gate. The driveway was roughly about 3 miles long and had willow trees all along it. I hit the button for my garage door opener and pulled into my private garage.  I grabbed my backpack out of the back seat along with my white lab jacket. As soon as I opened the door to the house I was jolted with a “SURPRISE”!!! My mother, father, and sister Wren gave me a huge hug. My father handed me a dozen roses. “Congratulations baby girl, I’m so proud of you” he told me as I wiped away happy tears.  I was taken aback by the amount of people stuffed into our house.  “How did you plan all this without me knowing?!” I said laughing “Well it wasn’t too hard because you were so busy studying for your finals Sage!” My mother spoke up sarcastically. I couldn’t help but to admire her long blonde hair. I could tell she curled her hair and put makeup on. She had on a red flowy dress  that was stunning! Her southern charm was really showing today. I looked over at my father who was admiring her looks, making the love he had for her obvious. My heart sunk, just another reminder that I haven’t met my mate yet.  I could hear music playing outside on the pool deck and it only reminded me that I could finally have time to enjoy my self. The last couple of years my life has been surrounded by tests and clinical evaluations, I finally had time to breathe! I’m finally a doctor! I told my parents I was headed up to my bedroom to change into my bikini and enjoy the party outside. They gave me the go ahead and I ran upstairs. Once in my room I slipped my backpack into my walk-in closet. It felt amazing knowing I wasn’t going to ever need it again! I picked up my black bikini and headed to the bathroom that is connected to my room. I wiggled my way out of my tight jeans and placed them in the clothes hamper. I quickly got into my bikini and headed down to the pool deck.  I was amazed, there must be 300 people here tonight to celebrate me! I mingled my way over to the bar on the deck and was greeted by my friend Remi. Her eyes lit up and gave me a big hug.  “Congratulations Sage!!!” I took in Remi’s warm embrace.  “Thank you!!! I can’t believe you hid this from me! I honestly don’t know how she could keep a secret this big.  “Ugh, don’t be mad at me and take this!” Remi cracked open a white claw and handed it to me.  “God, I needed this! It’s time for the most amazing summer to start, are you ready Remi?” “You know it babe! Now let’s get in the pool, I’m melting!” We headed over to the pool, placing our feet upon the stone steps gradually making our way into the warm water.
