She stepped out of the castle and got to the flight of stairs, grabbing a large amount of her front dress in her arms so she wouldn't trip and fall.
She ran down as fast as she could.
“Bekah!” Valerie calls out to her and she stops half way down.
Still holding onto her front dress, she turns around with tears that threaten to fall.
Valerie takes steady but quick steps to her, as her brothers follow behind her.
“Bekah, talk to me, what happened, did he try anything funny?” she asked with concern.
“I…I…He” Rebekah stammered and choked on the lump in her throat
“It’s alright” Eli said next.
Rebekah turned to face him and finally, she felt the tears drop.
“Get our carriage, we will be leaving” she watched him speak to a guard.
“Yes” The guard answered
He slowly turned to her and hugged her. Who knew Eli or Eliot could be this sweet.
They’ve bullied them for as long as she could remember. Or perhaps they just have a weakness for tears?
“ You can't cry out here, let's get into the carriage first” Rebekah heard him say again.
Soon the carriage arrived and they stepped in.
Rebekah cried a little and held the rest back in, while staring at the window and counting the trees they rode past.
She knew they were curious, they just stared quietly at her, afraid to say a word.
She shivered a little and Eli quickly pulled his coat and handed it to her.
She thanked him and put it on. Taking a deep breath…
“He sent me away” She began
She stared at their faces for any expression but could see nothing other than confusion and Valerie had shock written on hers.
“The Alpha?” she heard Valerie ask and she nodded.
“But why?” Valerie asked again
“I am an Omega Val, he must have felt very irritated” Rebekah said, staring at her hands.
“I don’t understand, he should have known you were an Omega before dancing with you. Why get angry at the end?” Valerie said with anger laced in her voice.
“You invite Omegas to your ball and dance with a random girl, what was he expecting? That you be a Luna?
Then he embarrasses you for being an Omega?
I thought Alphas had a good sense of smell, he should have known before walking up to you"
Rebekah could feel her getting all worked up, even her heart rate had increased.
She stared at Eli, the only one who seemed to understand and he stared back at her before looking at his sister.
“I doubt he is truly an Alpha, perhaps he is an impos….”
“He is her mate Val, the Alpha is Rebekah’s mate” Eli finally said.
“WHAT!?” Eliot and Valerie scream at once.
“That… can’t be… possible …” Eliot said in shock.
“He probably didn’t perceive her as an Omega first, but a mate. Explains why he would be furious afterwards.” Eli explained and Rebekah couldn’t help the tears that dropped again.
She quickly wiped them with the back of her hand and stared out the window to let the cold air calm the pain she felt.
Mated to an Alpha? One of the biggest jokes.
She stared at the sky and looked at the moon
“Why” she whispered
“This doesn’t make any sense, why would an Omega be mated to an Alpha?” She heard Valerie ask and she turned to look at her.
“No offense, but this hasn’t happened before, is this a joke? Is she trying to play a fast one” Valerie said, obviously referring to the Moon Goddess.
“I have heard of Omegas possibly being paired with Betas and Gammas but an Alpha?” Eliot spoke and Rebekah's throat ran completely dry.
She bit her lips to hold back her tears again.
“What’s going to happen now Bekah, what will you do?” She hears Valerie ask again and she felt her tears run, she couldn’t even subside them.
“He’s probably going to reject me” She answered.
………..
The carriage stopped at Rebekah's house and she got down.
She couldn’t help but smile at the encouraging words Valerie and her brothers had said to her.
Saying how she could never be rejected and will soon be their Luna.
She slowly walked into her home, careful not to wake her parents, but it seemed they had waited for her.
“Bekah?” She hears her mother call.
Quickly wiping the dried tears that had stained her cheeks, she let go of the gown she was holding unto, in order to walk properly. She wanted her mum to see her pretty and not depressed.
The light of the lantern placed on the dining room increased and soon she could see their silhouettes.
She smiled brightly like she hadn’t just cursed herself earlier for being an Omega.
“ You are back early, that’s good” She heard her father say to her.
“You look beautiful Bekah, how was the ball?” Her mother asked next.
“Splendid” She answered walking up to them with a smile.
She had changed in Valerie’s house so they didn’t get to see her.
She watched her father stand and take her hand into his.
“Turn around, let me take a good look at you” he said and she laughed.
She turned around slowly and stopped, facing him again.
“I have the most beautiful daughter” He complimented and she blushed.
“Father!” She felt him kiss her on her temples, and she smiled.
“You should go rest, you’ve had a long day” he said to her and walked into his room, tired.
“Any suitor?”
“Huh?” Her mother’s voice jerked her back
“Did you meet the one?” she asked again
“N…No” She lied, shaking her head.
She couldn't tell her it’s the Alpha, her mother might be terrified.
“Maybe next time then” she hears her say sadly
“Yes” Rebekah whispered
“Go rest, and don’t forget to shut the windows, it's going to be a cold night. Goodnight!”
“Goodnight!” Rebekah whispered back.
She turned around and headed for her room. Carefully taking off the dress she had rented from Mister Potter, she placed it neatly by the bed.
She shall return it tomorrow as promised. She changed into a comfortable night dress and let down her hair Valerie had helped her pack, it had started to hurt.
She laid on her bed and recalled all that had happened tonight and fought the tears.
“Why do I have to be an Omega, this isn’t fair” She said to herself as her tears stained the sheets beneath her.
……………
The next morning, Valerie and Rebekah took back the dresses they had rented, back to Mister Potter’s shop.
She couldn't help but notice the way Mister Potter always stares at Valerie.
Soon Valerie would be eighteen, and they would get to find out if they are truly mates.
Rebekah hands him two gold coins she had saved her entire life and promised to pay him back the rest soon.
She rushed back home to pick the veggies she would sell for the day and rushed out before the sun fully rose in the sky.
