CHAPTER 7

Last night…….. ****** Garrett walked into the garden where he knew the Alpha would be, to tell him about the arrival of the other Alphas seeking his presence to congratulate him. He had seen her scurry away like she had just seen a ghost. The Alpha’s mate, as he had understood her to be. He nearly runs after her but decides to find out what had happened first. “What happened? Your mate ran away like she had just seen a…" He began but he was cut short. “An Omega!?” He heard the Alpha ask in furry “What did he mean?” He thought "Has she gone NUTS?" The Alpha asked, staring at the sky and full moon. Now Garrett was confused. "Who was he talking about?" He wondered "Has the Moon Goddess gone NUTS to pair me with an Omega!?" "An Omega?" Garrett asked Alpha Jerald stared at him, breathing heavily like he had just fought a war. His eyes were red, and at this point… Garrett knew he was ready to kill. He couldn't perceive her as the air was mixed, and being a Beta, his senses weren't as sharp as that of an Alpha. Different classes of people, one could barely tell the other apart. "Perhaps she had told him personally?" He wondered on. "But he was an Alpha, he had probably found out himself. But how could an Omega be mated to an Alpha?" The highest he had seen was to a Beta. "She's INSANE Garrett, INSANE!" "Who? Your mate?" He asked, taking a step back. The Alpha looked dangerous at this point, one wrong word or move could trigger him. Alpha Jerald had always had a problem with anger. "The DAMN Goddess! Send everyone out, the party's over. And don't bother me for tonight" He spoke to Garrett between clenched teeth and walked out. His claws elongated and his aura strong. Garrett took a deep breath to relieve his lungs from the suffocating aura, and adjusted the glass he wore in between his nose. He walked out and into the ballroom. He could see the enormous crowd that had arrived, as most were dancing. "How do I send these people out?" He asked himself. "Mr Williams" He hears a female call out to him. He turns around to the direction and he sees her, taking sexy steps towards him. She sure knows how to woe any man with that beauty of hers, but definitely not him. "Miss Ravens, fancy meeting you here. I see you've come for the ball" He spoke as soon as she got close enough. "Of course, I wouldn't miss it for anything. I don't see the celebrant anywhere" she spoke with a smile, one beautiful but deceitful. "He has retired for the night" Garrett replied "So soon? I hear he's taken his first dance, and with who?" "A young lady" He answered simply. "It would have been a pleasure dancing with him, but it seems I came late. I was busy making myself beautiful, you see" He could indeed see, she looked exquisite, no doubt. With the black dress she wore that complimented her skin, red lips and wavy brown hair she let down. She had the beauty and of course, the aura of an Alpha. Too bad she took hours to look beautiful only to last for a short time. "Indeed, you look exquisite! But I am sorry, the ball just ended" "What do you mean?" He could sense the confusion in her voice. "Alpha's orders" he replied "Please, do excuse me" Turning around, he smiled and walked away from her presence. He walked up to the podium and cleared his throat. "Good evening everyone, it's indeed been a great pleasure to have you all here tonight. But there's been an unfortunate incident and as such, I will have to ask you all to retire for the night. The Alpha sends his greetings and sincere apologies. Please, do feel free to grab as much as you like, food, drinks and some pastries. Your carriages will be waiting outside, and those who arrived without any carriages, some will be prepared for you, thank you and have a wonderful night" He announced and left the ball room. He could hear the people whispering as he left. After giving the orders to the guards to provide the carriages and see to it every single person left the castle, he walked up to the Alpha's room to check on him. He heard broken glasses and furniture, so he decided to leave him for the night. He heads back to his room and shuts the door behind him. He took off his glasses and placed them on the table beside the bed and collapsed on the bed. "It was supposed to be a wonderful night" He whispered ………….. He woke as soon as the sun rose in the sky, dressed in his three piece-suits, he struggled a bit to comb his brown and spiky hair back, but gave up halfway as it always goes back to how it was meant to be. He proceeds to the Alpha's chambers. The guards give the three knocks to the doors to announce his presence and open it. "Good morning Alpha, I see you are dressed and ready, did you sleep well?" Garrett say to him with a smile and a bow "Garrett, I have told you to stop using honorifics when we are alone, we are more than that. You are always an exception." Garrett heard him say and he smiled "Someone is in a good mood" Garrett noted, walking to stand behind Jerald "Good dreams?" He asked again, staring at him through the mirror he stood in front of. He heard him laugh as he turned to face him. "Not really, more like bad dreams actually. What's for today?" Jerald ask "The high members are awaiting your presence and the Alpha of Ardent Moon Pack wishes to see you. He will be having dinner with you tonight with his daughter. Having had the Alpha's Ball last night, these are all you have for today" Garrett informed him. "Dinner? He skips breakfast and lunch and goes for dinner?" He hears Jerald ask, taking a few steps away from him. Garrett takes a closer look at the room and notices it's been cleaned. Yesterday, it seemed he had broken quite a number of furniture as he noticed most of them seemed to be missing. "I believe he will be having some errands to run before coming by the castle tonight. Dinner sounds good to me" Garrett said to him following his movements with his eyes. "Okay" He heard Jerald say as he straightened his sleeves. "Dinner it is then. How did you handle last night?" "As you had ordered sir" He immediately turned to glare at Garrett. "As you had ordered Jerald" He said with a smile. "One more thing, not a word about my mate. Not a soul must be told." Jerald warns Garrett. "And if she says a word instead?" Garrett asks "She wouldn't dare, I doubt she has the stomach to spill. I need to get to the root of this first, before the words starts to spread" "Understood!" The Alpha and Garrett grew up together. Garrett's father had served in the palace and therefore they saw a lot of each other. After the death of the Alpha's parents, he appointed Garrett as his special adviser and Beta. Not long after, Garrett's father passed on too. They had grieved their deaths together.
