CHAPTER 2

Rebekah knocked at the gate and opened it slightly. Walking in, she heard shoutings and incoherent voices. "This must be a bad time" she thought. She turned around to leave before she heard the door open. "Please father!" "My answer is still NO!" "Eliot and Eli get to follow me, I will be safe. You should come along, it will be splendid!" Rebekah heard Valerie say to her father and as soon as she turned back around their eyes locked. "Rebekah is going too" she heard Valerie say "Right, Rebekah?" This was not how she had imagined it to be. Why were parents suddenly so against their children going to the ball? " Of.. Of course, I actually came to pick Valerie so we choose our dresses before it runs out. Goo.. Good day Mister Robertson!" Rebekah bowed in greeting. " Is that so Rebekah, or are you just trying to save your friend here?" "I would never lie to you sir, it's true. I have spoken to my mother about it and she happily gave me her blessings." She raised her head back up and watched him stare back at her with suspicious eyes. He turns back to his daughter who seems to have cried a little and stood helplessly behind him. " If you can speak to your brothers on taking you both there and bringing you both back safely, then I will consider it." He said and walked past Rebekah, and out of the house. Eliot and Eli were Valerie's older twin brothers, they've not really been fond of them, but they take good care of their sister, if she cries and suffers a lot that is. They've never been the fancy type, and a ball was a big NO! Valerie and Rebekah have a lot of begging to do. She watched Valerie run into her arms and she took a few steps to meet her halfway. "You came at the right time Bekah, thanks, you just saved me" She heard her say and smiled " We saved each other Val, I used you as my excuse too." "Are you really going?" Valerie asked "Yes!" Rebekah squeaked and they both laughed "Your mother didn't give you troubles, I believe?" she asked again "I thought I wasn't going Val, she squeezed the letter and threw it on the floor. I went on both knees immediately." and they both laughed again. "Let's go pick our dresses before it runs out, then we go find your brothers and beg them." Rebekah said to her "Deal!" She agreed and they left for Mister Potter's shop. …….. At The Shop They opened the door to the shop, it made a ring due to the bell that hung from above it, the shop was crowded! Different women, most they have never even seen before, were pricing for the most expensive clothes and jewellery. Some fought each other for it. "Maybe we should come back later" Rebekah heard Valerie say. "No! If we leave now, there will be nothing left by the time we return." She said back to her, very determined. No way was she giving up on her dreams for a mere crowd. "Do we fight these women? Besides, the clothes here are very expensive, how do we afford it?" "Mister Potter could make an exception" Rebekah replied They heard a woman scream and they turned towards the direction. "How dare you!?" she said to another woman holding the same material she held onto. "Let's move inside, I don't want to be blamed for what might happen next" Rebekah said to Valerie. Once a fight broke out, an Omega was always blamed, even though it wasn't known what had transpired. It's happened several times before. Rebekah watched her nod and they moved further into the shop. It was a big one, and soon they spotted Mister Potter. He was a skinny, tall man with red curly hair and blue eyes. He was very busy taking measurements of customers and answering questions people had for him concerning the fabric and its kind of materials. Some even asked if it would look good on them, to which he always nodded. His assistants were all over the place. "We really should come back later" Val spoke again "Go to him, you know he likes you. Once he sees you, he will abandon all those women and run to you" Rebekah said instead with a smirk. "Don't say something like that, he isn't even my mate." "You never know dear, besides you are not yet eighteen to know. You will be by next month and by then we would know if he is or not, after all, he feels a draw to you. I am eighteen and I can boldly tell you that he isn't my mate, and it's definitely not me he runs to each time we come here." "Rebekah!" She called her name in a shy manner. "Miss Val?" Finally, the voice of the person they came here to see. They both turned and watched him excuse himself to walk to where they stood. "Told you" Rebekah whispered to Valerie. Coming here without Val could have been a complete waste of time. Rebekah sighed softly He walked up to them and smiled. He looked tired and very sweaty, he must be exhausted!" Rebekah thought "You both were invited too?" He asked and they nodded. Rebekah pushed Valerie a little with her elbow. "This is where she speaks, oh lord!" Rebekah whispered to herself "Ye…Yes, we were. Good day Mister Potter" she finally spoke. "Good day Mister Potter" Rebekah bowed in greetings too. "Good day, I have told you both to just call me David, I am not old, just 20" he smiled again. They nodded and Rebekah pushed Valerie again. "We…we were hoping to get some dresses for the ball, but it almost seems impossible. We came cause we know your qualities are the best." Valerie spoke again. He smiled and scratched his neck. "Why don't you both come back later this evening, I will have something fixed." "Really!?" Rebekah was the one to exclaim this time. He laughed "Yes, really!" he said. "Thank you" Valerie said and they rushed out of the shop laughing and giggling. "Today was a good day" Rebekah said to herself. They headed towards Valerie's brother's shop, they were good wood craftsmen. When they entered the shop, they greeted the brothers calmly. And as soon as they opened their mouths to speak… "No!" The brothers both said at once, shocking them both. It was going to be a long day!
