Daphne huffed as she took a minute to catch her breath; she was almost there to the border of their territory. She had no idea how she was going to get past the guards strategically posted at all the streets that went out of this side of the city. Her best bet would be to go over the rooftops.
She walked around, looking for a building that would be easy to climb. Unlike closer to the headquarters, the werewolves around the border seemed to be more sensitive to new faces. She nervously moved around as more and more werewolves on the street noticed her, squinting as they tried to identify her.
‘This one,’ Daphne thought as she stared at a short building which seemed to have a flat rooftop. It was perfect for climbing as it had little brick designs that protruded out of the walls.
“Excuse me,” someone said from behind Daphne. She tried to hide her surprise and panic as she turned to face him. “Oh, hello.”
“I haven’t seen you before,” the man said as he eyed her. He was definitely a werewolf with that strong natural scent of his, and she knew he could tell she was a werewolf too.
“I’m coming from the more central area. Is there a problem?” she said, ready to escape the conversation.
“I’m part of the guard team,” he said plainly. Daphne stiffened. “Most of us at the border are. If you are trying to leave the territory, we are on a strict lockdown right now so that won’t be possible,” the man said while bending over to try and get a good look at her face.
Daphne didn’t need to be held down to know that she was caught. She immediately shoved him, running straight towards the back of the building. Immediately, six other men started chasing her, so she was right after all. They were waiting to restrain her.
Daphne growled as she increased her speed. The men behind were almost caught up to her before she made a big jump, leaping onto tleaping just beside the building and bouncing off it into a higher portion of the building. She climbed fast.
It wasn’t up to two minutes before she heard the sound of howling and barking; some of them had transformed. She looked forward at the setting sun; it would be no advantage for her if she did not get out of here before dusk.
She leapt off the building and straight onto the next one, with half a dozen men and wolves behind her.

“Sir!” Carlos yelled hurriedly as he ran into Caleb’s office. “We found her! She has been sighted near the border.”
Caleb looked attentive. ‘Why is she so fast!’ “Let’s go!” he said as he grabbed his coat and zoomed out the door with Carlos. ‘Why is she so eager to leave?’ he thought as he saw Carlos dash into the elevator. ‘I did not starve her and gave her everything she needed. What more does she want?’
Caleb grunted, flinging open the window. Carlos's eyes opened wide as Caleb leaped out of the third-story window onto the roof of a branch section of the building that was just two floors tall.

By the time Daphne got to the end of their territory, she could see the borderline. It wasn’t a physical one, but it would be obvious if you paid attention to the black ‘Rosewell’ coffee shop branches oddly placed all around the place. They were definitely resting points for the guards on duty.
Other than that, she could sense the border. Werewolves could sense territories. This one being hers as the Luna, was very clear to her; she might as well be able to see it.
She glanced around, looking for weak points she could escape from.
“Daphne!” A loud, deep voice called with great intensity from behind her. She froze; she knew that voice.
Daphne turned around to see Caleb jumping onto the same roof as her, followed by a hesitant-looking Noah and an out-of-breath Carlos.
“Daphne, don’t you dare move an inch,” Caleb yelled.
“Why?” she yelled back. “Why does it matter to you?”
Caleb looked stunned and confused at the aggressive tone. “What do you want to do that you are running away?” he yelled.
He had taken her in as his mate just as agreed by her alpha and father, so what was the problem? “Was this your father's plan all along?”
Daphne scoffed. “No, I’m not some secret agent here to gather information,” She turned back to face the next building she was going to jump to.
“Where do you think you are going?” Caleb reacted reflexively. “I am your Alpha and your mate!”
“And I am your Luna!” Daphne impulsively said, pausing to swallow the lump in her throat. “But you never seemed to respect that.”
Caleb paused, just now noticing she was tearing up. ‘HHad her eyes always been so red?’
“Now you show up, now you care,” she yelled at him. “While I sat in that penthouse, you couldn’t care less if I was dead.”
Caleb stood still; he didn’t know what to say. ‘That’s not true’ was the first thing to come to his mind, but he didn’t know how to defend that statement.
“When was the last time you talked to me, huh?” Daphne yelled.
Caleb remained silent, his mouth twitching as he hesitated to speak.
“My mate?” she scoffed. He had never been there; he had never shown care for her or even acknowledged her. “Take a good look at me. Do you see anything? Feel anything?”
Caleb stared at her, confused.
She swallowed hard and managed a glare at him. Even right now, he still couldn’t see she was his true mate. “Don’t ever call yourself my Alpha again. I am escaping your cold, uncaring, and unloving grasp, with my child.”
Before Caleb could take in everything she had just said, she jumped, missing the building and falling straight down. Caleb trembled, dashing to the edge of the building to see if she was hurt.
His heart tremored; she could die from that fall. He glanced over the edge to see nothing there. She was gone. His wolf was unsettled inside of him.
Daphne’s voice echoed in his head; that was the first time someone had called him cold straight to his face. No one dared to challenge him until now. He grunted, dashing his hand through his hair before slamming his fist on the floor. “Find her,” he commanded, as all the werewolves dispersed to start searching.
