Vampire King POV
“So king, what are we going to do with the beasts?” One of the many helpers asked me dragging me out of my endless thoughts. It seemed like they asked the same question every second.
“I’m working on it.” I snapped as I was dragged out of my concentration once again, it was impossible to get refocused and they didn't seem to realize that. That girl only seemed to ask that question, like she only knew those eleven words in that order.
Okay, where do I start? So, the beasts and vampires go way back. It all started when my sister was kidnapped, she was only two at the time but had the strangest personality which made her stand out even more than normal.
She was an angel but also a devil at the same time. I would be lying if I said I didn’t miss her. I found myself quite often wondering who she is today, if she had the same personality or if she was a completely different person.
A knock sounded the room snapping me out my endless thoughts once again. I sighed before shoving away paperwork, realizing I wouldn't have peace before preparing for the news this person might give me.
“Come in,” I spoke before checking who it was, I was happy to see my mom there instead of just another helper.
“Hey mom, what do you need?” I quickly got out for my seat, approaching her to give her a hug, not going to lie, I am definitely a mommy’s boy. It’s not something you outgrow, trust me.
Like my mom, my sister from what I could remember inherited her black hair but instead of my moms’ beautiful brown eyes, she had bright ocean blue eyes. She is definitely a splitting image of our mom. I didn’t remember much about her but it didn’t stop me from wishing I did.
“One of the helpers asked me to tell you. The beasts are getting worse, apparently, they kidnapped a teenage girl and boy. They escaped twice, which is a clear sign that they are being held against their will. Your army won’t do anything without your command.”
These beasts seemed to always get into the same issue all the time. As much as we would like to be, vampires weren’t much different from the beasts.
We have mates, just like them but we don’t go around kidnapping humans. We live forever or until killed, and we don’t age. The humans were the cause of all of this.
It was over a thousand years ago, while in a meeting the government killed most of the supernatural off. My dad, who was almost killed in the process, doesn’t want revenge now all he wants is his daughter back. He has stopped at nothing, but I have a feeling he was losing hope with each passing day.
“Alright, so obviously we need to figure out this situation and hold the beasts responsible.”
“Wyatt, I’m only asking because I’m your mother and I love you. Should we really get involved in the beast business?”
I thought out every possible, and impossible, scenario before deciding.
“Mom, these are humans we are talking about. They have no power and for the beasts to kidnap them, it’s not right. If we don’t do something about it then I’m afraid that no one else will.”
My mom had a look of confusion on her face. Just like my sister did when she was little.
“Maybe it’s not our place to step in? The humans do the same thing, the vampires have to be the different ones since the humans nor the beasts can’t follow the rules.”
“Well if the humans and beasts do the same thing, why can’t the vampires do it?”
“Wyatt, I taught you better. Just because one kind does it, doesn’t mean the other ones can.”
My mom continued to rant even though it doesn’t do any good. She knew this but that didn’t stop her.
“Still, if we don’t do anything. Who will help these poor humans?”
“You are still willing to help them after what they did to our kind?”
She had that look on her face like she was proud or something. I knew my theory was correct as soon as a smile made it way onto her face.
“Yes, because this happened over a thousand years ago. The humans that are here now, aren’t all guilty. These humans that are stuck can be very well innocent.”
“I am so proud of you, heck your sister would have loved you.” I pulled away to keep the tears back and made sure they went unseen. Men don’t cry, at least not in front of people.
“Thanks, mom I try. Now we need to have that meeting.” I signal as others walked in forcing my mom to leave.
“Alright, alright I’m going. Don’t be mean to your mom, I’m still stronger than you.”
I chuckled, she wished she was stronger than I am. Maybe one day she will be but honestly, I don’t feel like testing it out. I still had respect, either way, she was my mom. Without her, I wouldn’t the man I am today.
“Alright, guys.” I started, this time pulling myself out of my never-ending thoughts. “We need to talk.”
“About?”
“What else would it be about? The beasts.”
“Why can’t we just get rid of them? Like, wipe every single one off the planet.” A friend by the name of Bae questioned. Weird name, his parents hated him. Even though he disagrees with me on it. He enjoys his name, don’t see how.
“That would leave just the humans and us vampires.” I reminded trying to prove to him that it was not a good idea.
“So just get rid of the humans.”
“Dude, that would just leave the vampires.” He sent a questionable look towards my way.
“That would be a bad thing because of why?” I slammed my head as hard as I could into my desk that I was currently sitting in.
“We would starve after we run out of the blood and we would end up killing each other. Do you see why we can’t kill the beasts and the humans?”
“Hey, I never said my plan was perfect!” I glared as hard as I could into his big brown eyes, becoming pretty sure that my green eyes would pop at any given moment.
“It’s not a plan, Bae. We just need to talk to them, which would probably lead to war. Maybe we should just skip the talking and go straight towards war.”
I thought allowed, I had a feeling that this might be easier than I thought but then again, it might not.
“Alright by the end of the day we will be marching on the beast’s territory. Any news on my sister?” I glance towards Bae, who was in charge of finding her today.
“No luck in Nebraska, Kansas, or Oklahoma. I already checked Maine and places up that way. There aren’t many states that we haven’t checked quite yet but we did check every country.”
“Okay, what places have we not checked?” This beast matter turned into a sister matter just like that. The beasts would have to wait at the moment.
“Here and Colorado.”
“Well the kidnappers aren’t that dumb to stay in Washington, so check Colorado.”
“What about the beasts?” I groaned as much as I wished I could just simply focus on finding my sister, I knew we had to do something about the beasts.
“Fine, get two teams together. One goes with me to the beasts and the rest to Colorado.”
“Who do you want me to gather?” Bae questioned once again, he was always good at his job. I knew I couldn’t bring everyone if a war broke out I couldn’t have kids being killed.
“Everyone but the kids and expecting mothers.”
