The ceremony was over, and the casket was finally lowered underground. The cries of the two cubs in the young man's arms grew louder. I couldn't even see their faces, but I knew they were full of tears from mourning. I don't know why I also tear up at the sight. I don't know them, but I feel what they feel right now. I know how painful it is to lose a loved one. It's almost as if you're going to die.
But we won't get out of that sadness if we don't allow ourselves to move on. We have to accept that they are gone so that we can move forward. We need that to continue in life.
I was stunned and lost my attention to the crying group of people when I felt and heard the phone ring that was in the pocket of the bag I was carrying.
I quickly took it and saw that Auntie had called. I moved a bit away from Mom, who was more concerned about my situation before answering Auntie.
"Hello, Auntie." I answered his call.
"Well, what happened to you Rhea? It was almost alarming, but you're still not here," he said worriedly on the other line. "Have you gotten lost? I called you a while ago, but you didn't answer. Where are you, and can I come to you?"
I don't know how to answer auntie. Should I say that I was in a cemetery witnessing the burial of a stranger? Why did I go here? If I hadn't slept, I might have been at auntie's now. Hey! Life!
"A-Ah, I'm fine. I-I just had a little trouble with the ride. But maybe we're close," I lied. I don't want to add to what he will think. "Don't worry."
"Oh, ok, ok, be careful. Call me when you're close or when you don't know where you are. Got it?"
"Yes, auntie. Thank you."
"Oh, he, he might burn what I'm cooking." He said last before hanging up.
I took a deep breath before looking again at where the burial was. My eyes caught Mom looking around as if she was looking for something. When he turned to me, he quickly gestured for me to come to him.
I did nothing but approach him again. If I leave here, I don't even know where it will be. I might get even more lost. I'll just help Mom here when it's over.
"Everywhere you really go." He said this when I sat next to him.
"Just talked to someone." I said.
"What? You see something I don't?" it said in shock.
I shook my head. "No. I just talked to someone on the phone."
It nodded. "Ah, I thought you were seeing a ghost.
We stayed there for a while until some gradually left. Only the man was left carrying the two children who still did not stop crying. There was also an old woman and a man there taking care of the children.
Then I saw that there were two women who were in trouble, as if they were still crying, and there were three men with them. I stared at one when I saw it. He was the driver who brought us here.
I'm still with Mom.
"Hey grandchildren," he whispered. "If ma'am hadn't been stubborn, she would still be here." He whispered while looking at the children. "My poor pets."
"Is it their mother who died?" I asked.
He looked at me again as if he couldn't believe what I was saying.
"Yes, Ma'am Claire. Did you have amnesia and don't remember what was happening?" She asked me.
"N-No. I'm just thinking about a lot." I answered. I don't know how to answer him. Because he doesn't believe that I am not included in what they are mourning.
We waited for the kids to calm down before we left. The three of us are together in the white van. Because the trip was so long and Mom was telling this story, I fell asleep.
I just woke up when someone shook my shoulders.
"... Hija, hija, wake up and come downstairs. We are here at the mansion." I heard Mom's voice as I continued to shake my body.
I was shocked to hear what he said. What is it? Where are we? Mansion? What am I doing here!
I fell asleep again! My plan is that I will take them to the place where auntie lives. But it looks like we got through it again! It's my fault for staying awake!
"It's good to wake up. It's hard for you to wake up." It's a complaint but not anger.
I quickly got out of the car because he was already outside. And I immediately stared at the mansion he was talking about.
A very big and beautiful house appeared to me, it was a mansion. In all my life, I have only seen this kind of house up close. Back then I only saw them on television. But now I was only inches away from it.
I couldn't help but open my mouth in amazement. It's like I'm dreaming now. I never imagined that I would see such a big and beautiful house!
"Hey! How are you? You've been dumbfounded there for a while! Come on. Sir and the others are already inside." Mom then grabbed me by the wrist.
As we walked the road to their back house, I still couldn't stop myself from marveling at the beautiful features of this mansion. It must be very nice to live in this kind of house.
We entered the back door of the house and immediately saw the bed and some things like a cabinet, a small table, an electric fan, and so on.
Mom sat on the bed.
"Hey! I'm sorry for standing up earlier." He said.
I just stood there at the door because I didn't know what to do. I guess he noticed that so he called me.
"What are you doing! It's like my room is new to you. Sit down, I know you're tired just like me." He tapped the space beside him.
Hesitantly, I sat beside him. Couldn't his boss reprimand me when he finds out there's someone inside their yard that they don't even know? I'm even more nervous! I might even get sued!
