Night And Day Elly's Point of View I woke up from my nap when I heard the running of the zebras. I stood up and I saw all the animals busy doing their individual works. Some of them were busy picking up some plant and fruits from the trees for their meal, some of them were busy hunting for meat. By the way, I’m Elly the Elephant. I’m the leader of our group. There were 3 groups in our place; the one who hunts for meats, the messengers and the one who gathers fruits and vegetables. Our group was the ones who gather fruits and vegetables for the vegetarian animals. The animals that were in our group are the giraffe, monkeys, deer, and the rabbits. The hunter animals were the lions, tigers, snakes, cheetahs and hyenas. They're hunting for meat for the carnivore animals just like them. And lastly, the messengers, their job is to send a message between the 2 groups and will inform us about what Unita- the unicorn goddess who protects and guides us- wants us to do. The animals that were in that group were the eagles, doves and small creatures of their kind. In our time, there is only daylight. No darkness and no changing of seasons. All we do is work and work, and if we're already tired, we'll take a rest under the shaded tree. The three groups gathered in the center of our place called the Omphalos. It's where the 3 groups gather after their works and each group will share what they’ve got for the animals to eat. It's our way of showing our love and respect to our fellow animals and can also be considered a feast since we also do this for our Unita - our Unicorn Goddess- to show our devotion to her. "A pleasant gathering to us animals! We, the messengers, are here to inform you that only one group of animal shall remain to Omphalos. All shall leave!" Eana the Eagle declared. I was caught off guard with what Eana said. There's no way that we'll leave our home! "Who gave you the right to declare that? You're only just the messenger, our group was better than yours!" Said Leo the Lion. "No! Our group is stronger than the two of you combined! The reason why our group shall have this place!" I said with authority "Our dear Unita requests us to deliver this message once we gather here in Omphalos. And we're more powerful than you two because we're the most trusted animals of Unita" said Eana There was a great shaking of the ground and Unita appeared out of nowhere. Her hair and tail are colored with different beautiful colors. Her eyes were as gold as the sky. Her skin is as white as a pearl. Her horn is gold-colored with a sparkling diamonds all over it. And her wings are heavenly. "What's happening here?" Unita asked us "Eana said that only one group of animal will live this place and the rest must leave. Is it true your highness?" I asked her "Yes! Or you can kill some animals in your group so that the 3 groups will live here!"- Unita answers "That's not good! All of us have the right to live in this world! No one have the right to take one's life for their own good!" Leo said "It's for the best of the 3 groups Leo! 2 groups must leave or we'll kill some of our members" Eana said "If that's the case, as a leader of our group, we'll leave this place because I don't want to be selfish!" I said as I guided my members to leave Omphalos. "So do I! I will not tolerate harm to my band! We'll leave this place and will start a new beginning at our new paradise!" Said Leo My group and I started walking away from Omphalos. As a leader, I have to think about the best when it comes to the welfare of my members than the welfare of my own. We walk and walk until we reached a beautiful place. There's a waterfall and its water is crystal clear. There's also many fruits and vegetables that can be found on the place. This place is suitable for us. "This will be our new paradise! We'll live here peacefully without those selfish animals! We'll call this paradise Neos!" My friends and the other animals cheered happily and searched for their place to take a nap because of the long walk we had. 3 years later Years had passed since we moved on and start a new life in Neos. For the past years, we lived peacefully here in our paradise without any harm. We bond with our loved ones; we gather foods for our group and had come up with our own feast. But our peaceful and happy life ends there. The waterfall’s crystal clear water had darkened. The trees became lifeless. The plants withered. The animals were blaming each other because of the said problem. The beautiful paradise we called Neos was murdered by us. Rosie the rabbit approached me while I was taking a nap near the waterfall “Elly, there is no life here. We need to go back to Omphalos if you want us to survive!”- she said “We’re not accepted there Rosie. We will be killed if we’ll go there. You know what happened years ago”- I replied and sighed “Just like what you had said! IT HAPPENED YEARS AGO! The situation might not be the same as before! There’s no bad in trying!”- She said with conviction “I’ll think about it Rosie”- I said as I look to the animals She’s right. The water is not safe for us to drink. The foods that they’ve gathered obviously are poisonous. The relationship of the animals was unhealthy and chaotic. We’ll starve to death if we’ll stay on this place. I called the animals to gather at the center of Neos. Their faces were not the same as before. Their joyful and glowing faces were replaced with melancholic and despair. “I know you all are confused why we are gathered here. As you can see, Neos is already lifeless. We neglected and killed it. And if we stay here any longer, we’ll starve to death. So as the leader of our group, I decided that we’ll go back to Omphalos.” – I declared. “What if we’ll not be accepted there? What if they’ll kill us when we reached there?”- Gia the giraffe asked “It happened years ago. Think about it, maybe the situation is not the same as before? It’s better if we try than to die here right?”- I asked her back The animals agreed to my suggestion. They’re cheering and finally, the smiles on their faces showed up just like before. We eat our meal and took a nap before we started our journey to Omphalos. We walked hundreds of steps before we reached Omphalos. We were horrified with what the current situation of our most beloved place. The trees were nothing but a trunk. You can see dead leaves and animals everywhere. The water is nowhere to be found. The soil is cracked. It is more lifeless than Neos. This is not the place that we loved. We heard some footsteps walking towards our direction. I turned to see who they are. “It’s been a while my friend”- Said Leo I saw Leo with his group. They’re skinny and pale. I walk towards him and smiled “It’s been a while Leo. What happened?”- I said “The place where we lived for years died. There is neither food nor water. We’ll die if we’ll stay there”- He said with a teary eyes “Same goes with our group, the reason why we decided to go back. But I guess we don’t have anything to save here”- I said as I patted his back Suddenly the sky went dark and the ground is shaking. We’re starting to get panicked when the shaking stopped and Unita appeared out of nowhere. “Why did you come back here?”- She said “Dear Unita, we’ll die if we stayed on the place where we’re from. And we have no choice but to go back here thinking that you might give us some place to stay or even some food and water to consume”- Leo said pleadingly Unita laughed wickedly “Do you really think I’ll do that? After all the sacrifices that I did just to make this moment happen?” – Unita said and her eyes turned into black. Her hair changes its colors to black and gray. Her skin turns from white into black. She transformed into someone that she’s not. “Who are you? And where is Unita?”- I shouted for her to hear me “I am Ursula. The bad equal of Unita. Unita and I were made at the same time. We have the same level of power. We are equal on all aspects. Except one”-Ursula “Except what?”- I asked her “Except the love that I receive from all of you. I just don’t get it why she’s loved while I’m at the corner, unknown by all! Now, she’s the one who’ll be forgotten and not me!”- She laughed after she said that 2 cages appeared. The first cage imprisoned the messengers and the second one imprisoned Unita. They’re weak and pitiful. “So you’re the root of all the problems that we’ve encountered?”- Rosie said “Oh? Such a brilliant rabbit! I love that!”-Ursula said teasingly to Rosie “ATTACK!”- Leo shouted and we attacked Ursula together with the other animals We assaulted Ursula individually without any plan but to defeat her. But she is so powerful that no one can touch her. I tried to reach her but before I could, I flew against a tree. I moaned in pain and unconsciously looked at Unita. The colors of her body are slowly fading. She is so weak. And then I remembered what my mother said about her. “Unita is the Goddess of love, unity and peace. All of her power is from us. Her power will strengthen if the animals show unity and love to each other” I saw Leo lying on the ground, weakly. I walk towards him and whispered my plan to him. I helped him walk and together we made a sound that made them all stop. All of their attention was on us. “WE CAN’T BEAT HER WITH WHAT WE ARE DOING RIGHT NOW! WE HAVE TO FIGHT HER TOGETHER AT THE SAME TIME! WE NEED TO HELP UNITA REGAIN HER STRENGTH!”- I shouted Ursula was shocked with what I said. Her black aura darkened. Her nail grows longer. Her wings turned into boned one. She transformed into a creature scarier than a her previous self. All the animals walk straight to our back (Leo’s and mine). All of us held each other’s hand. Suddenly, a white ball of light appears from us. It became a barrier that’ll protect us from Ursula. She discharged all of her power against us but it bounced back to her. Another white ball of light appears and it goes to Unita. The colors of her body reappeared. The 2 cages which she and the messengers were imprisoned shattered into pieces. She flew towards Ursula and hugged her tightly. Ursula forced to be free from her hug but she can’t. “My dear sister, don’t be blinded by your anger and hatred. I loved you, and I will always love you until the end of time”- Unita said A tear fell off from Ursula’s eyes. Slowly, she transformed back to her original self. She hugs her sister back and cried her heart out. “I’m so sorry Unita. I was just so jealous of you because all of them loved you, while me? I’m at the corner and nobody knows me.” –Ursula said between her sobs Ursula turned to us and smiled a bit “I’m sorry for what I’ve done to all of you. Please forgive me”-She said sincerely “Apology accepted. But promise us that you’ll not do it again.”- I said “I will”- Ursula replied with a smile Unita and Ursula combined their powers and brought back Omphalos to life. The water re-appears. The trees bloomed. The lifeless animals were brought back to life. Peace and love dominates in Omphalos. “Where are you two going?”-I asked Unita and Ursula “We’re going back to our home. But don’t worry, we’ll visit you every day and night.”- Ursula said “What do you mean?”- Leo asked They both smiled at us “We’ll guide you all during the light and the darkness. Unita will be your light to help you do your work. And I’ll give you darkness, that’ll help you sleep and rest.” Slowly they flew and disappeared at our sight. We continued our celebration until darkness came. We followed what Ursula said and took a sleep. Lightness came and we woke up and did our work. And we decided to call lightness as day, and darkness as night.
