Through Their Eyes

Chapter Fourteen

It was my first day at my school since I moved to the Golden Moon pack. I got released from the hospital at the end of last week and even tho I seem confident and collected I’m breaking down on the inside. I mean don’t get me wrong it’s great that I found my mate but I don’t want to embarrass myself any more than what I have already. I mean I was an absolute mess literally when I realised Ethan was my mate I was in an ugly hospital gown, my hair everywhere and no makeup on what so ever. I mean come on I seriously looked like I was dragged through a hedge backwards and I find my mate. Come on embarrassed is an understatement. I dragged my feet to the office praying not to run into anyone that knew me. Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on my side as usual, when I walked right into the back of someone who was standing with a group of people. “Sorry,” I mumble not looking up suddenly embarrassed that I wasn’t watching where I was going. “Oh, look who it is, it’s the witch who steals other people’s mates,” I cringed when I heard her voice knowing exactly who it was that I had run into. “Better watch where you’re going as you could end up with a nasty accident and it would be all your fault.” I really could not be doing with her rubbish at this moment in time. I pulled my head up and looked back at Venus, who was smirking. I so wanted to slap the grin right off her face. “Maybe you should make sure you’re not taking up the entire hall with your group of wannabes.” Venus screamed as she made a move to slap me and connected her palm with the side of my face. I felt the sting and knew my cheek was turning a shade of red where her hand met my face but I knew not to show any emotion or she will win. I straightened my back and brought my face back to look at her. I wanted to get what I needed from the office and get to class as I have missed loads of work already. I moved my bag further on to my shoulder and went to move around her when she tripped me making me go flying onto the ground. Her group were laughing by now and Venus bent down and whispered in my ear, “Watch your back as Ethan will get tired of a nothing like you and come back to me, where he belongs.” I was raging as she just said that my mate didn’t want me and she thought he would pick her over me. I wanted to tear her apart but I had to take the higher ground here and show her that she wasn’t going to get to me. I picked myself off the ground and dusted myself off before looking at her again and with a flip of my hair, I walked away from her and her group of hang ons towards the office. Once I walked into the office I leant up against the wall and tried to get my breath and emotions under control. I leant forward placing my hands on my knees and took deep breaths in and out before walking up to the desk where the school’s secretary was seated. I smiled at the woman and she smiled back. “How can I help you today?” she asked nicely. “I’m here to pick up my schedule for my classes. I’m Alexandra Bates.” I said quietly knowing that she must’ve seen my cheek getting redder by the minute. “Oh, yes here we go. Here is your schedule and locker number,” she smiled as she passed me the pieces of paper over the desk to me. “Welcome, Alexandra, hope you enjoy it here.” “Thank you,” I said smiling as I looked down at my schedule and saw that I had art first. I had no idea where the art department was. Luckily I was still in the office so I turned back to the secretary and asked her where it was. She laughed as she gave me the directions to my first class. Thankfully I got to class without any more incidents and when I walked into the class all eyes turned to me. Luckily I saw Faith and Czarina sitting smiling at me. After I gave the teacher the late note I made my way to where my friends were sitting. “Hey guys, how’s it going so far?” I said as I started to get stuff out of my bag and making sure they didn’t see my cheek. “It’s boring, the teacher is giving us a lecture on how to see the beauty all around us,” Faith grumbled as she tried to stay awake. “I’m enjoying it. It’s fascinating the way artists see the world,” Czarina stated as she was frantically taking notes. “Oh really? I love drawing but I’m not good at people so hopefully, some of your talents will rub off on me,” I laugh nudging Czarina. I started to take notes myself when I pushed a piece of hair that had fallen in front of my eyes when I heard both of my friends gasp looking at my horrified. “Alex, what in the world happened to your cheek?” Faith almost screeched but caught herself in time. “Looks sore and it’s starting to bruise. Oh my goodness, what happened?” Czarina gasped staring at my cheek. “Nothing, just had an accident when I was walking to the office,” I grumble moving my hair forward to hide my face from them. Faith and Czarina kept staring at me throughout the rest of the class. As soon as the bell rang to finish the class I shoved everything into my bag and without a look towards my friends I run out of the class. I kept running but heard my friends trying to get me to stop but I kept pushing myself to run faster. I needed air fast as I dodged through the other students and almost collided with a hard wall. I felt the sparks and knew that I had run into Ethan who was standing talking with Zack and Lionel. I just wanted to die but knowing me I couldn’t break down and curl up in a ball. I looked up at Ethan and tried to smile. He was looking back down at me smiling but his smile left his face as he saw the bruise on my cheek. I forgot to hide it as I looked up at him. I watched his eyes turn black and then back to his gorgeous green clour as he frowned. He brought his hand up to my face and gently tried to stroke the bruise, I felt my face blush as we hadn’t made it public that we were mates yet. “Baby, what happened? Who did this to you?” He whispered as he moved closer to me. I felt the heat radiating from his body and saw that he was angry that I was hurt. “Nothing, don’t worry about it,” I said taking a step back from him and lowering my head to hide the bruise again. “It’s healing already so no need to worry about it.” Honey, tell me,” Ethan said moving towards me. “I am your mate and I know something has happened and your hiding it from me.” I took another step back as if I stayed around him for any longer everything from this morning would tumble out of my mouth and I knew I would end up crying. I felt Faith and Czarina come up behind me and I suddenly felt suffocated by everyone being around me. I held my hand up to my chest and felt panicked as I looked into all the concerned faces. I saw Ethan lift his arm towards me but I suddenly saw the attack happen again in my head and I honestly freaked out which I never do but I have been trying to keep all the fear to myself so I don’t make everyone worry about me more than what they have been doing. I need air and I need it now so I push myself between Zack and Lionel and run towards the front doors of the school. I heard Ethan shout after me and knew that he would be running after me. I burst through the doors of the school and kept running until I was in the woods surrounding the school. When I couldn’t run anymore I slumped to the ground and let out a scream and wrapped my arms around my legs and I let the tears fall down my cheeks. I know what you are thinking, my friends were only trying to help and that they are worried about you. I know I was overreacting back there but I couldn’t help it. I was so lost in my own thoughts that I didn’t realise that Ethan had found me and had wrapped his arms around me as he did after the welcoming ceremony. “Shh, I’m sorry,” He murmured into my hair as I kept crying into his chest, “Baby, what happened? I can’t help if you don’t tell me what happened.” “I’m weak and you so deserve someone a lot stronger than me,” I cry into his chest. “Plus she was right you will get fed up and go and be with her.” I felt him stiffen when I said the last bit and felt him get angry. Oh great, I’ve gone and made the Alpha mad just because I was crying like a little baby. I looked up and saw that he was staring right ahead of him and knew he was mind-linking. He’s so handsome and I can’t believe that he is my mate. “Baby, I will never get fed up with you as you are my mate and my everything. You stood your ground when you and your mum was attacked even though you were weaker than that rogue. Your the strongest person I know and I am honoured that the moon goddess picked you for my mate,” Ethan said as he sniffed my hair to calm himself down. He kissed the top of my head and sighed. “We are mates and no one is going to come between us as the moon goddess has made us especially for each other.” I smiled knowing that the moon goddess didn’t make mistakes but it was still taking me a while to process the fact that I was mates with Ethan. We really hadn’t had much of a chance to get to each other since I woke up after the attack. “Thank you, Ethan,” I whisper as I wrap my arms around his waist and place my head on his chest. “I’m always going to be there so you are going to have to get used to seeing me,” Ethan laughed as he squeezed me tighter. I breathed in his scent of pine trees and mint which calmed me down. I smiled into his chest and squeezed him back. We were in a comfortable silence just enjoying being each other’s arms before Ethan moved slightly away from me. “Now are you going to tell me what happened this morning?” Ethan asked me. “It was nothing really just had a bit of trouble with Venus but I will take care of it if it happens again. I was heading to the office when I bumped into Venus and her friends literally,” I said shrugging it off like it was nothing. I felt Ethan’s fingers under my chin as he brought my face up to look at him. “Was that so hard to say?” he laughed as he kissed my cheek sending sparks right through my body. I shivered in absolute delight. “We should be heading back to class before our friends send out a search party.” We stood up at Ethan grabbed my hand and interlocked my fingers with his as we slowly made the way back to school. When we got closer to the school we saw Faith, Czarina with Zack and Lionel standing at the doors that I had run out of a while ago. When they saw us Faith and Czarina ran over to me and tackled me in a hug. “You OK now Alex?” Faith asked me with a concerned look on her face. “I’m fine now, just got a bit overwhelmed with my first day and everything,” I replied laughing as I watched my friends inspect me looking for any new bruises or scratches. “Honestly guys I’m fine.” “We were worried that you wouldn’t come back here today,” Czarina said quietly looking down at her hands. I looked at both of my friends and saw they were hiding something from me as they both kept looking from me to where Ethan had met his friends. “Now why are you both looking like someone who had been caught with their hands in the cookie jar?” Faith looked guilty before sighing, “We have found our mates. I found mine when you were still in the hospital and didn’t tell you because I didn’t want to freak you out,” Faith guiltily said before she looked up at me. Czarina then looked up from her hands and said quietly, “I met mine later on than Faith as I was busy helping my mum and I hadn’t really noticed him before then,” she smiled before she sighed as it looked like she had a weight lifted off her shoulders. “OK, guys the suspense is killing me who is it? You both know about me and Ethan being mates so out with it,” I jokingly teased. I saw the guys coming over to where we were standing. Ethan came and stood on my right and wrapped his arm around my waist. I smiled up at him and wrapped my arm around his waist also not caring if people knew now. I watched Zack stand next to Faith and Lionel stand next to Czarina. My mouth hit the floor when both of my friends smiled brightly as they linked their arms around the two boys. “Are you kidding me?” I started laughing as I watched their faces fall as they watched me. “Alex, what’s going on? Why are you laughing?” Faith asked before I managed to pull myself together. “I’m laughing as I thought that you were mates as you were always around each other and now I was right,” I started laughing again till I ended up bent over with pain in my stomach from laughing. “This explains everything. I’m happy for you guys, really I am.” I was totally happy for my friends that they found their mates even if it was Ethan’s Beta and Gamma. I stopped laughing as my sides and stomach couldn’t handle any more laughter as I hugged both of my friends and their mates, which earned a low growl from Ethan when I hugged the two guys. I gave him my best smile and puppy dog eyes as I walked back over to him and pecked him on the cheek. He looked shocked by the kiss before he bent his head and kissed me back. “Now when can I expect nieces and nephews?” I asked as both couples looked shocked that I would even bring that up. “I was kidding. Think we need to get going before we miss the rest of the classes, even tho I don’t want to go back today.” I started walking when I felt myself being pulled against a solid chest. I knew it was Ethan that had pulled me back. I slowly turned around and wrapping my hands around his neck. He smiled a smile that had mischief behind it. “You can’t really expect me to go and concentrate on my classes with only a peck on the cheek now, do you?” He whispered in my ear. “Ethan you’re just going to deal with it and try to concentrate in class. Plus besides, we only have one more class to go before school finishes,” I purr into his ear. I manage to kiss him on the cheek again before wriggling out of his arms and started running towards the building laughing when I heard a growl coming from behind me. I heard Ethan start running after me and just when I got through the door I felt him right behind me I let the door go and it slammed right into his face. I stopped and looked back and saw him holding his nose with a surprised look on his face. I wanted to check to see if he was alright as guilt surged through me. I saw him move his hand away and saw no blood so I smiled and blew him a kiss through the door before I took off running again to get to class on time.
