Chapter Thirteen

2742 Words
Dennis was pacing back and forth in his makeshift office thinking about his encounter with his sister and niece. He really thought they would be cowering fear when they saw him. He ran his hands through his greasy stringy brown hair. He always knew his sister would be hostile against him when she saw him again, but not even telling her daughter that she had an uncle. He slammed his hands on to the desk that was beside him. His second in command knocked on the door. “COME,” Dennis shouted impatiently as he didn’t want any company at this moment of time. “Sir, are we moving on to the next stage of your plan? You have found where your sister and her family are…” the man asked watching his boss pace back and forth. “Has anything changed since you encountered them?” Dennis walked over to the desk and leaned against the hard edge. “No nothing is changed but we are moving our base nearer to where they are. We are moving back to my old pack since no one lives there anymore and it is now unclaimed lands,” Dennis smirked at his lieutenant. “Everything is now much more fun as we can plan our revenge on those that made me leave in the first place. Make sure everyone has what they need to move by nightfall.” His lieutenant coldly smiled and nodded his head. Dennis sent him on his way with a wave of his hand before he turned to the window and thought back to that day when his Alpha made him leave and he was shunned by the rest of the pack even his family turned against him. He closed his eyes as he thought back. It was like every other day he got up and trained. When they were almost done with their training they saw one of the she-wolves came running, screaming that her child had gone missing. The Alpha sprung into action calling for all the warriors to gather in front of the pack house to form search parties. Dennis was put with his sister’s husband Sebastian and another couple of warriors. They were given the furthest away part of the Silver Star’s territory to search. “Move Dennis, we need to get there before it gets dark. Alpha won’t be happy if we don’t give our best for the search,” Sebastian shouted to his group of wolves. “Don’t see why we need to drop everything for a missing pup who stupidly ran across the border,” Dennis grumbled quietly enough so none of the others could hear him. Dennis watched as the group of men that he was with all shifted into their wolves. Dennis didn’t want to shift as he knew his talents would be better put to use somewhere else. His wolf was trying to take over and shift. “Come on, shift already,” Dennis’ wolf Zander growled trying to get Dennis to shift. “Nope, not going to shift yet, will shift if I really need to,” Dennis barked back at his wolf and blocking him. “You can come out if and when needed.” Dennis was running in his human form as the rest of the group ran ahead. He wanted the pup safe but there was something nagging him in the back of his mind. He sighed as he stopped running and sniffed the air. His sense of smell was heightened due to being a werewolf. He sniffed the air as he picked up the other male wolves that he was with and a copper smell. He knew instantly it was blood and he started running again towards the smell. When he was closer he saw blood everywhere and Sebastian and the other members of his pack in attack positions facing some rogues. Dennis just stood there and looked around him before shrugging his shoulders and walked into the clearing. He sniffed the air again and he smelt the intoxicating smell that he has never smelt before. He looked around frantically before his eyes fell on a rogue she-wolf that stood covered in blood with her head hung looking at the ground. He couldn’t take his eyes off of her as she was the most beautiful wolf he has ever seen. Dennis was in awe of this woman he was looking at and took in every detail of her appearance. Her hair was black but tangled like it hadn’t been brushed for a while, her skin was pale and her eyes were so wide he saw a flash of confusion in them when she looked at him. He felt drawn to her even tho she was a rogue and standing over a bundle of bloody clothing. He started walking towards her with no regards to the other wolves that were growling and snarling at each other. A dark brown wolf jumped in front of him and growled at him. Dennis knew that it was Dylan, Sebastian’s wolf who had jumped in front of him. Sebastian growled at him to shift and get ready to kill the rogues that they were facing. Dennis growled back allowing Zander to come to the surface. “Get out of my way, I need to get to her,” Dennis shouted not caring who heard him. Sebastian lifted one of his paws and pushed him back and growled at him to shift again. Dennis wasn’t paying attention as he was still looking at the woman standing just behind the rogues. “Shift now, Dennis,” Zander was pleading now as he wanted to get to his mate and protect her from the c*****e that was just about to start. “NO! I will not shift just because he wants me to,” Dennis shouted back making Zander retreat back a little but still tried to take over. Dennis started shaking as the bigger of the rogues that they were facing attacked Sebastian’s wolf due to Dylan being distracted by Dennis’ actions. He watched the rogue jump on to Sebastian’s back and dug his claws into his flesh. Sebastian roared trying to get the rogue off of his back. Dennis looked towards the other rogues that were there and saw the other warriors from his pack fighting with the other two rogues. The woman just stood there and as Dennis stared at her. He started walking towards her as he didn’t want any part of the fight that was going on around him. He kept walking towards her even tho she was growling at him to stay away. He stopped just in front of her and looked down at the heap at her feet. He hadn’t noticed it before but he saw the missing child lying there covered in scratches and noticed their head was gushing of blood from a laceration almost the size of the child’s head. “What do we have here?” Dennis asked the woman. He stared straight into her eyes as he waited for an answer. “Answer me mate.” “I don’t have to tell you anything, but I will tell you that we didn’t harm this child,” she replied looking straight back at him. Dennis smiled as he stepped over the child and grabbed her arms in a vice-like grip. “Now, now don’t tell me that you and your friends there didn’t do this as you reek of this child’s blood,” Dennis sneered moving his head closer to her head. “I am the only thing that is between you and death little mate.” The woman seemed shocked as she gasped and stepped back trying to get away from him. “I am telling the truth we never hurt the boy, I was trying to help him,” she pleaded suddenly realising the gravity of the situation. “Oh come on a small group of rogues as yourselves came across a child who was already injured?” Dennis asked pulling her towards him making her crash into his chest. “I won’t hurt you as you are my mate but I don’t know what will happen with the Alpha who’s land you are trespassing on.” The woman started struggling to get away even more as she didn’t want to meet the Alpha and be killed. “I beg you, please let me go and I will stay away from you after you reject me,” his mate begged. Dennis smiled as he watched her trying to get away but he was stronger so she couldn’t get out of his grip. He started laughing at her for thinking that he will reject her. He stopped laughing when he felt the presence of Sebastian and the other warriors from his pack still in wolf form growling at the woman that he had in his arms. Dennis turned around slowly and pushed her behind him. As much as he enjoyed watching her struggle and plead with him he didn’t want her to die as the mate pull was getting stronger by the minute as she was now holding onto his arm. “She is mine,” Dennis clearly stated to the werewolves that were back into attack positions. “She is my mate and I will not let you lot kill her.” One of the warriors went behind a tree and shifted so he could get the child and take them to get the medical help that they needed. The warrior picked the child up gently so that they didn’t cause any more pain and ran back to the pack doctor as fast as he could with the child. Dennis smiled wickedly as he watched the remaining warriors start circling him and his mate. He growled a warning to not come any closer. He was staring at Sebastian’s wolf and knew that the Alpha had already been contacted and on his way here. Dennis moved his neck from side to side with loud cracks being heard and stretched making his spine c***k before he shifted into his wolf. Zander stretched as he finally got set free to shift and got in to attack mode as he saw the warriors circle him. “Now Sebastian, you don’t really want to fight me, do you?” Dennis asked through their mind link. “The rogue hurt one of our pack’s pups she needs to be taken care of,” Sebastian stated back to him. “She needs to be punished, Alpha is almost here and he will deal with this problem whether she’s your mate or not.” “Alpha knows the importance of mates and what happens when a wolf loses their mate. You wouldn’t want anything to happen to your mate or that pup she’s carrying, do you?” Dennis was goading his brother in law, knowing that Sebastian would kill anyone who threatened his family. “It will be Alpha’s call when he gets here on what happens with your mate,” Sebastian said. “Always the loyal warrior aren’t you? Well, I can promise you this if my mate dies I will personally make it my business to take down the whole pack and destroy everything you hold dear.” Dennis threatened. “I suggest you all back up before this gets ugly.” “Doesn’t have to be this way Dennis, and you know it,” Sebastian said taking a step forward. “Now move so we can take her prisoner.” “NO!” Dennis yells as he jumps towards Sebastian aiming for his throat. Sebastian managed to move just as Dennis landed with a thud on the ground where Sebastian was standing. Dennis growled as he turned around in time to see the other warrior grab his mate by the ragged dress that she was wearing and throwing her on the ground. Dennis threw himself at the warrior in a rage as he wanted his mate to be safe. He jumped onto the warrior’s back and dug his claws into his back. The warrior tried to shake him off but Dennis was stronger than him as he bit the back of the warrior’s neck making the wolf lose balance. Dennis jumped off of him and saw Sebastian thundering towards him to attack him. Sebastian brought his teeth into Dennis’ shoulder making him howl from the pain. Just as he was about to attack Sebastian a powerful howl made them all stop fighting. The Alpha of the Silver Star pounded into the clearing that Sebastian and Dennis were fighting in. “STOP!!” the Alpha roared through the mind-link. Both warriors stopped fighting as they felt the authority of their Alpha. They shifted back into their human forms and threw on the shorts that they had brought with them. The Alpha shifted and once they were all decent he walked towards the woman who was crouching in fear of him. He gave her a disgusted look as he turned his attention towards Dennis. “WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?” he demanded in his Alpha voice making everyone bow. “Dennis, why are you fighting against a member of your own pack?” “Alpha, this rogue woman is my mate. I smelt her scent when we were looking for the child,” Dennis said straightening his back to talk to the Alpha. “The warriors were going to kill her and I wanted to protect her.” The Alpha studied Dennis before he looked once again at the woman. “If that is so, then why is she covered in blood that is mixed with the child’s scent?” “Alpha, she said that she was trying to help the child as he was already injured when her and her friends came across him,” Dennis said proudly. “I ask that you spare her and let her become a member of the pack.” The Alpha walked over to the woman who was now standing and looking, Dennis. “I will let her live if she submits to me and wants to become a member of our pack, what do you say, mutt?” The woman tore her gaze away from Dennis and looked at the Alpha who’s power was rolling off of him. She straightened as she had decided on her choice. “I will never submit to an Alpha, or join a pack as I would rather be a rogue.” “Then so be it,” the Alpha said before using his werewolf speed he grabbed her by the throat. “I tell you now mutt, your death will be quick even if you have found your mate in my pack or not.” Dennis couldn’t believe what he just heard and he ran as fast as he could and started to beg his mate to change her mind. “Love, do you have any idea on what you are saying?” Dennis’ mate looked at him with determination in her eyes and nodded that she knew exactly what she was saying. She turned her head back to the Alpha and spat in his face. “I will never be submitted to anyone ever.” The woman slid her hand into a pocket of her clothing and brought out a small dagger and plunged it into the Alpha’s stomach. The Alpha realising what has just happened became enraged and with a quick flick of his wrist broke her neck. Dennis didn’t know what to do as he lifted his mate’s head and watched as the final signs of life drained from her eyes. Dennis shook his head at the memory he was reliving as he went out of his office. When he got to the open-air he took a deep breath in before shouting to the rogues to gather around as he had an announcement. The rogues quickly gathered around him waiting to hear what he had to add to his previous orders. Dennis stood straight with the memory still very vivid in his mind. “My brothers in arms, today we make a statement, we are moving. Pack everything like I have ordered you to do. Today we move our pack to our new home. Today we move to the Silver Star territory and claim it as our own,” Dennis declares with a wicked smile spreading over his face.
