Chapter Six

I don’t know how long we stayed on my step to my house but I enjoyed every bit of being near Ethan. I felt relief when he said that he wasn’t with Venus, maybe I had a shot after all. He still had his arm around me trying to comfort me. “Alpha Ethan, shouldn’t you be with everyone else, enjoying the party?” I asked suddenly feeling selfish that he was here was me. “My Beta has everything covered, plus I look after all my pack members if they need help, also please just call me Ethan,” he said smiling that delicious smile at me. I smiled back as I leant my head on his shoulder. Something was telling me that I could get used to this. I felt him rest his head on mine. Now, this is what you call heaven. What girl doesn’t want a sexy man comforting them? I’ll wait while you ask around. You couldn’t find any? Ha, told you. Anyway, I was enjoying his company when I shivered. “Are you cold, Alexandra?” he whispered into my hair. “I think it’s time we got you indoors and out of the cold. He stroked my arms which made me shiver again. I really didn’t want to leave his closeness but he was the Alpha, after all. “Would you like to come inside for a little bit? I don’t really want to be alone and my parents will be home soon,” I hopefully asked as I stood up and avoided looking at him. “It’s alright if you need to get back as well.” I was starting to get really nervous as he hadn’t replied for what seemed like forever. I got the courage to look up at him and saw him smiling at me. He stood up and my heart fell a little bit as he turned as if he was leaving. “Now, what sort of man would I be if I didn’t keep you company till your parents got home?” Ethan said running his hand through his hair. I couldn’t help but notice that Ethan seemed nervous, or was that my imagination. I walked up to my door and walked inside. I noticed that he hesitated before he took a step into my home. I felt so nervous, it’s not funny. We both stood there shuffling our feet and avoiding each other’s looks. “Would you like a drink?” I said trying to make small talk. I headed towards the kitchen with Ethan following right behind me. My hands were shaking as I got glasses out of the cupboard and then went to the fridge to see what I can offer. “We have water, soda, or would you like tea or coffee?” I said with my head in the fridge. “Soda will be fine,” Ethan said quietly behind me. I grabbed the nearest soda and proceeded to pour two glasses of the stuff. I noticed my hands were shaking as I handed him his glass. I watched as he took a mouthful then proceeded to watch the liquid go down his throat. I bit my bottom lip as I haven’t wanted to be that glass to be me before. He caught me staring at him. Oh dear, he caught me staring yet again. What is wrong with me? “Sorry, I keep staring,” I mumble quickly picking up my glass and taking sips. “Would you like to go and sit in the sitting room? as I need to go and get changed,” I asked not looking at him, in case he laughed at me and walked out. “Sure, don’t be too long tho,” He smirked as I put my glass down and bolted out of the room and up the stairs. I got into my room breathless and put my hand over my heart trying to calm down. I had a hot guy downstairs waiting for me and I didn’t know why but it felt like it was the right thing to do. I looked into my mirror and groaned when I saw that my mascara had run down my face from the crying, my hair had became an absolute mess. “Come on, your a mess,” I said to myself. No wonder he was laughing at me earlier. I pout as I run into the bathroom and removing all the make-up and taking my dress and underwear off and hopping into the shower for a quick wash. After I had showered I went and got my favourite PJs out, They were a pair of green shorts and a vest top that was a darker green than my shorts. I threw them on before quickly dragging a brush through my hair. With one last look, I ran from my room and headed back down to the sitting room to where Ethan was waiting. As I got to the doorway of the sitting room I must’ve tripped over my own feet in the rush and I literally went flying. I must’ve looked hilarious as Ethan was laughing his head off. He laughed so hard he had tears rolling down his face. “It’s not that funny,” as I sat on the floor feeling sorry for myself. I tried to stand up but I had twisted my ankle when I went down. If you have ever gone over your ankle you would know the pain that shoots up your leg. “Ouch, that hurts,” I said to myself. Before I knew what was happening Ethan had come and picked me up and carried my bridal style to the couch. He sat down with me on his lap. “You OK?” he asked me concerned. “I’m fine, just twisted my ankle that’s all. A great way to end the day,” I replied waving off how much my ankle hurt. I suddenly realised I was sitting on his lap. I tried to move but he tightened his arms around my waist making me not able to move. I can’t explain the feelings I was experiencing at the moment. I mean I was uncomfortable that I was sitting on the Alpha’s lap and on the other hand it felt so right like it was meant to be. I looked at him and I saw the concern in his face. “Honestly, I’m fine,” I whisper as I managed to get off his lap and suddenly regretted it. I tried standing as I needed to get ice for my ankle, but when I stood I screamed as the pain shot up my leg and I collapsed onto the couch beside him. I felt so stupid that I had embarrassed myself again in front of him. “What do you need?” Ethan asked me as he placed my foot on the coffee table and saw the slight bruise that was forming. “I was just going to get some ice but…” I didn’t get to finish as he was already in the kitchen getting the ice pack. Damn werewolf speed. He was back before I knew it and placed the ice pack on my ankle. He sat back down to me but he was closer than what he was before. “Thank you,” I whispered. I felt my cheeks were on fire. “No problem,” Ethan said and flashed me that smile that had me feeling better. “Since we don’t know when your parents will be back fancy watching a movie?” “Sure, you can pick as you can see that my family are massive movie fanatics,” I said smiling back. I watched him get back up and studied the titles of the films. “Anything but a chick flick, please.” “Oh, thank goodness, how about this one?” He held up a horror movie and it was my favourite. “Excellent choice, that’s my favourite,” I was thrilled that he liked the same movies that I liked. Ethan put the movie on and then sat down beside me just as close as before to the point where my thigh was touching his thigh. I didn’t mind as I felt like I had just won the lottery. Ethan was getting more comfortable as he put his arm around the back of me on the couch. I couldn’t resist and sort of snuggled further into his side. “Is it OK for me to lean on you?” I asked him not sure if I had crossed the line or not. “Yeah, it’s fine. To be honest, I was wanting you to snuggle into me more,” Ethan said bringing his arm down and resting it on my shoulders. Come on guys, no naughty thoughts. I can tell you all that nothing like that is going to happen till I find my mate. Anyway, back to the movie. We were sitting watching the movie when I started to feel tired but I didn’t want to lose Ethan’s company so I willed myself to stay awake. “By the way,” I said absent mindedly, “my friends all call me Alex,” “Was that your way of telling me you consider me a friend?” Ethan said looking down at me. “I guess it was,” I replied as I put my head back onto his chest. As the movie progressed I felt my eyes getting heavier and before I knew it I was sound asleep resting on the Alpha’s shoulder and in his embrace. I kept sneaking glances down at my mate sleeping on me and I couldn’t help but check her out. The PJs she was wearing was a blooming tease for me as they showed off her long legs. I was getting hot all over and had to adjust myself a number of times. Know what I mean guys? When we walked into her home I was nervous as hell, I mean who wouldn’t be. I watched her go into the kitchen and grab a couple of glasses before she asked what I wanted to drink. She was still in her dress and I saw the stain beginning to dry from where the drink had landed earlier. When she said she didn’t want to be alone I almost jumped with happiness as I knew this is the start of something magical. She handed me my drink and noticed her hand shaking so she must be just as nervous as me. She offered me a seat in the sitting room when she ran upstairs to get changed. When she left I dropped onto the couch I let out a long breath. “She’s amazing, she suits us perfectly,” I said to my wolf. “She definitely is,” Rowan agreed. When I was waiting I looked around and noticed the movie collection her family had. It was impressive as it filled the floor to ceiling bookcase. They must have every sort of film in that collection. I heard the shower going so I knew I had a little bit of time as I stood and went and looked at the family pictures that were scattered about the room. As I heard the shower turn off I returned to the couch and waited, but I was getting impatient as I wanted her here with me. When she came running into the room I saw her trip over something and it happened in slow motion the way she went down. Her arms flew into the air as she fell and her legs were the next things in the air. I couldn’t hold back the laughter as I saw her on the floor. “It’s not funny,” Alexandra said pouting. She went to stand up but screamed when she felt the pain from when she went down. I stopped laughing and using my speed I was picking her up and bringing her to the couch. I loved the feeling of having her in my arms and I sat down with her on my lap. I was the happiest man, in my opinion as I had my mate in my arms. Alexandra must’ve realised and tried to get off of my lap but I didn’t want to let her go. Eventually, she managed to get off my lap but screamed when the pain in her ankle and she fell onto the couch. I became very concerned as I raised her foot and placed it on the coffee table and noticed the bruising coming out. She said she was going to her ice but before she had finished what she was saying I ran and got the ice and put it on her ankle. I offered to stick a movie on and picked a horror. I sat beside her close and that’s when she started to snuggle into me. As we watched the film she was trying her hardest to stay awake. She got more comfortable in my embrace and her breathing evened out and I knew she was asleep. I tried to keep awake until her parents came back but I started to feel myself drift off. It was like I was a nodding dog the way I kept drifting off. I moved further down so we were in a lying position, well sort off and as I cuddled against my mate I drifted off to sleep, the happiest I’ve been since I can remember.
