Chapter 12 - Everything goes to s**t

Derek POV

“Did she just alpha command them?” Rex asks me as surprised as the rest of us.

“Alexandria, did you just alpha command them?” I ask Ria and she doesn’t answer back, she is in some kind of shock.

“But alpha commands is my thing” Rex whines,

“Stop being a little b***h and learn to share, our mate needs us” I tell my wolf as I wrap my hand around Ria's shoulders and lead a speechless Alexandria away from the crowd.

We are back in the private living room, followed by the rest of our family when she finally speaks.

“Am I turning into a werewolf?” she asks anxiously.

“I don’t think so, you don’t smell like one, I think it’s just another effect of the marking” I assure her, I wonder what I will get from her?

“Don’t get me wrong, I like werewolves, I even love them but I also like myself the way I am, plus, I’m a pure hunter, I can’t be turned, so what the f**k is going on… I need Max”,

“Why the f**k would you need Max?”,

“Because he is the only other hunter here, he might have a different perspective and I can’t call my brothers again because they might flip out and kill you” she yells, puff, her brothers can’t kill me, I can take them.

“No you can’t”

“Shut up, asshole”

Clearly she is freaking out and she has every right to be, and as I hate admitting it, Max can actually help her right now.

“What happened exactly?” Max asks kneeling down in-front of Ria and holding her hands, I would rip every finger off his hands for touching hers, but now is not the time.

Alexandria explains the whole fight and how she commanded them, but she left one detail out … or maybe she didn’t know.

“And her eyes glowed, like her brothers’ eyes do” I add.

“They did?... am I turning into the shunned?” Alexandria asks anxiously,

“I don’t think so, and I don’t think you are turning into a werewolf either, that’s not what I sense from you” Max says.

“So it’s just another effect of the marking?” I ask.

“I believe that, and like your brothers said, it’s a first, so we don’t really know how this whole exchange thing works” Max confirming my thoughts.

“That’s what I already said Alexandria, but I guess you just needed to hear it from his mouth” I say the last part looking at Max with disgust, anger or both, I really don’t know I just want to rip his head off every time he opens his mouth.

“Alpha, you are needed at the border, the son of alpha Hanson is asking for you” one of the warriors links me, what the f**k does he want? , Is it another sneak attack?, I put every warrior on alert anyways.

“Love, I need to go” I say as I kiss her forehead and stand to leave.

“Is everything okay?”,

“Yes, just some border security stuff” I chose not to worry her yet, she is already stressed out, I gesture for Dean and Dylan to come with me and we all head to the border to see what is it that this piece of s**t wants.

Eric POV

“Do you think it will work?” Kyle asks me.

“We don’t have any other options, it’s not like I could pick up the phone and call him” I say as we go towards the crimson river pack border.

“Why did you have to bring your girlfriend with us?”, I have nothing against the girl except that she got my brother whipped, he never says no to her, and pleasing her is all he thinks about, don’t get me wrong, I know she loves him too and cling to him like he is holding her life line, but sometimes it’s inconvenient, like right now.

“It’s either that or she would have followed us anyways, plus I thought bringing a female with us will be less threatening … and if anything went wrong, she can fight” Kyle explains his reason for dragging his girlfriend every f*****g where with us.

We reach the borders and before we even get closer warriors surround us from every angle, we are 10 … me, Kyle, his girlfriend and 2 other alphas and few warriors, but they are much more, some on the trees and others on the grounds in wolf form, others still in their human form.

“Identify yourself and state your business” a bulky dark warrior asks.

“I’m Eric Hanson, son of alpha Mathew Hanson and we are here to talk to your alpha” I say in a firm voice, I can see their jaws clenching as they exchange looks; they know who my father was and they clearly don’t like us.

Few minutes later and Derek f*****g stronghold shows up with his beta and gamma,

they are supposed to be related but they look nothing like each other, the gamma has light brown skin with brown eyes and the beta is blond with blue eyes which is an entirely different shade of blue of his black haired brother, the alpha…’the man’, as the man who killed my father, who ambushed him, the man that I will kill.

“Alpha Eric, what is it that you want?” Alpha? I’m not an alpha, you took my pack you son of a b***h.

“We have some information regarding your mate and her ex pack” as if a hunter can have a pack.

“We have all the information we need, thanks for your visit” The beta is the one to answer.

“We know where the survivors are and we know how they are plotting to kill her”, that got them interested and a little angry, all of them, because it wasn’t just Derek who let out a growl although it was the loudest, even the warriors got agitated and started growling and snarling, that’s a surprising reaction… doesn’t this people know she is a hunter? everybody already knows, so what if she is the alpha’s mate, she can’t be their Luna.

“No one can harm the Luna of the crimson river pack” Alpha Derek snarls with obsidian eyes.

Derek snaps his head to his gamma and it seems like they are having a private conversation before the gamma speaks.

“What is the information that you have and what’s the price of giving it to us, I mean, you are not doing this out of the goodness of your heart” the gamma says irritated.

“Of course not, everything has a price but maybe we should take this conversation on a more private place”,

“Only four of you may come, have your pick” the asshole alpha says before he turns and leaves expecting us to just follow, which we did after a fast a decision of who we will leave behind.

Kyle, his girlfriend, Edward, the son of alpha Benjamin and I follow them to the alpha office; we scan everything we can put our eyes on, the warriors that are escorting us, the pack house that we are heading to, the entrances and exits, anything that can help in the next attack… and of course in finding my mate.

There is a very good chance that Derek would kill us right here and there but I highly doubt it, especially now that he is in the hot seat with the whole murder of the king’s niece.

“Is that a pack house or a f*****g mansion?” Kyle asks me through mind link.

“Is this a pack land or a luxurious gated community?” I link him back.

I have to admit we were wrong to attack this pack head on, it’s very secured and their warriors are not to be messed with, alpha Michael painted us a very different picture, this man is either a complete fool or a very devious one, I think he is the first one though.

“Have a seat” Derek says as he sits on his desk being flanked with his beta and gamma, a show of power, like he needs one, I know exactly how powerful and ruthless he is.

“So, what do you have to tell us?” Derek asks before we even finish sitting down, rude.

“Well alpha, let’s discuss the price first”,

“And what will that be alpha Eric?” again with alpha bullshit, it’s like he is taunting me.

“Our pack lands” i simply state.

“Hmmm, I don’t think so alpha Eric” Derek answers with a fake smile.

“Then we don’t have anything to tell you and believe me, what we know is very valuable, what’s a few pack lands compared to the safety of your mate” I say and he chuckles in response, disrespectful mother fucker, I’ll enjoy killing him.

“It’s funny you think you hold any power here, do you think I can’t just drag you and all your friends here to the dungeons and torture the information out of you?, or I can just kill you where you stand” he says leaning back in his seat like torturing people is the normal every day business.

“Our allies and warriors won’t-” I try to respond but the asshole cuts me off.

“Alpha Eric, I let you in on my land, my pack house, to the heart of the pack, do you think I consider you or your so called allies a threat? , I believe after what you saw, you now know that you can’t even take over this room, let alone the whole pack” so all of this is actually his show of power, he i know for his psychological tactics.

“We know you are the ones who tried to attack us few days ago, and I know you are seeking revenge for the death of your fathers”,

“Death? Don’t you mean slaughter?” Kyle says losing his temper.

“young man, I gave them the chance to back down, to stop what they were doing, but they really thought they can defeat me, and that’s their mistake, don’t try to repeat it” Derek threats.

“What the hell are you talking about, they were your guests, you invited them in, you ambushed them for more power and land, you are a disgusting man who deserves to die a horrible death ” Kyle losing all control, the i***t is going to get himself killed and all of us along with him.

Derek slams his hands on the desk, almost cracking it and stands up slowly in a menacing way looking directly at Kyle with his eyes pitch black, I instinctively stand in-front of my younger brother protectively.

“listen here, I’m only going to explain this once, just because I feel sorry for you, trying to take revenge for such a despicable man” I involuntarily let out a growl upon hearing my father being insulted but Derek ignores it.

“Your father was a part of an alliance with my own father, planning to kill me and take over my pack when he thought I was weak after an attack, why the hell did you think they needed so many warriors to come with them if they are just coming to a party?” he raises a good point.

“Maybe they knew you would ambush them like that” I say defending my father and his friends,

“That’s bullshit and you know it… do you know what their fail safe plan was? It was to rape and mark my mate” Derek growls the last part,

I can see Kyle is as stunned as me, that can’t be true, my father had his ways, which I didn’t approve of, that’s why I didn’t want to take my position as alpha right away, I wanted to be my own man first, but he couldn’t have stooped that low, could he?

“Thank the goddess they failed but it wasn’t without a price, we lost our unborn pup because of it, so don’t you come here talking about your fathers like they were wronged somehow, or that you have any rights or claims here, just ask your friend there, he doesn’t seem surprised at all by what I’m saying” he says referring to Edward who doesn’t look fazed at all with what Derek just revealed,

I’m speechless, and Kyle is in disbelief, if what he is saying is true, and from Edward’s reaction, it most likely is, then he has every right to kill all of them ... and all of us,

“That doesn’t change the fact that the information we have is valuable and we –” Edward tries again; he doesn’t realize we already failed and were defeated, he only invited us in to humiliate us and he was very much successful at that.

“Your information is rubbish, and the Luna is more than capable of defending herself, and if she doesn’t feel like it, she has the entire crimson river pack to do it for her” The beta says firmly.

“Do you really think the threat you are talking about holds anything compared to the threat of the king himself” The gamma adds, this was a fake diplomacy mission but I didn’t think that we would be that mortified, I wasn’t thinking straight, distracted with a damn mate bond.

“Be thankful that I’m still letting you breath, it’s called mercy but don’t be fooled, the next time you see me standing in-front of you, you will be taking your last breath … now you may leave” Derek waves us off like we are nothing, well, compared to him and his power we really are.

We are out of the pack house and almost to the yard , escorted by warriors, Kyle’s girlfriend is holding his hands and rubbing his arms in an attempt to calm him or console him when we see a man with a freaking man bun running after a woman, she almost reaches the tree line when he calls for her,

“Alexandria, wait”, we can only see their backs, but by her name, I assume she is the Luna, and that’s when all things go to s**t … an even deeper s**t.

“MATE” Kyle’s girlfriend growls, the man and the Luna turns looking at her and they look shocked, even more than we are.

“Leila?” the Luna says while the man next to her pales.
