“Take her and go,” I said to Shadow. “You two.” I pointed at the two closest guys. “Pick up the women and follow Shadow. He knows the way to the hospital.”
The men carefully picked up the women, the pregnant one groaning and grabbing for her belly.
“Go,” I said, then Sadie jumped in their path. “Hang on. Please. Can you tell me if there’s anyone else down here? Are there more women?”
The pregnant woman nodded her head, her neck as weak as a baby’s.
Tony raised her higher on his chest so she could rest against his shoulder better.
“Through there. To the left, more.”
“Go.” I said, and Shadow led the group through the door and back towards the light. Hopefully they weren’t stopped, although by the look on Shadow’s face, he’d die before he let anyone near the woman
