Watching the others fight impressed me more than I wanted to admit. Michele’s gift was so cool. I wasn’t able to see the sword made out of air only when I observed her closely I was able to make out a ripple in the air where her sword was.

Lane was a good fighter as well. I thought her gift was more of a defensive one, but in the right hands this gift was destructive. In one moment, I could see her and in the other she was gone and reappeared behind me with a dagger in her hand.

My last teammate Rick had a wonderful gift as well. He used the light to blind people temporarily and as he was able to control the intensity, he was even able to make them blind completely. Together they were invincible, and I wanted to be part of their team so badly.

“Aya and Petra you have to sit down and watch the more experienced fighters first. Learn from them and afterwards you will show them what you have got. Understood?”

“Yes sir.” I was really pissed because they had time to train as a team. Petra and I were always trained separately, which meant that I didn’t have a clue what to do when it’s our turn to show them our teamwork.

Zecel took the position of the opponent and the three half bloods started their attack.

Michele was the first one to attack and Zecel dodged her blade. I didn’t know how but he sensed the invisible blade somehow and was able avoid being hit. I watched Michele fight Zecel and was mesmerized by their movements. It was all so smooth and beautiful to watch, that I didn’t even notice Lane’s disappearance. Rick tried to support Michele and blinded Zecel with his gift, which made it harder for him to dodge the blade. His other senses were as sharp as ever and he sniffed the air. He knew where they were and attacked Rick. The only one who he couldn’t detect was Lane with her cloaking ability, which came in handy as she reappeared behind him and  punched him in the back. He turned around and I realized that the temporary blindness wore off slowly. He was able to see again. Together all three of them attacked him from different angels and it was Lane who caught him by surprise as she appeared directly in front of him with her dagger held to his neck.

They did it,together they won against Zecel. I was speechless.

They started grinning and did a special looking handshake. It had to be their own team handshake. Petra and I hadn’t one, which made me realize that it was nearly time to fight.

I grabbed Petra by her t shirt and lead her to the side of the trainings room. “What should we do?” We never fought as a team.”

“Girl I am as clueless as you. Just try to support me and I will do the same. Let’s see how it will work out.”

“Okay, deal. Let’s try our best.”

Zecel already stood there waiting for us to start the fight.  

Petra started shooting her fireballs but Zecel blocked the attack easily, I formed an energy whip and tried to reach him, but he was fast, too fast. Petra saw him moving away from my whip and copied my attack with her fire. Her fire whip and my energy whip drove him into the corner, and I thought we had him, when he jumped over our heads and kicked Petra in the back. She fell and her fire slowly started to go out. I needed to react fast. I manipulated my energy and used it to pick up the leftover fire. I formed a ball and chased Zecel with it as I have done before with the water ball. He ran and tried to avoid being hit but I had a plan. I unfolded my wings and started to attack him from above. My fire energy ball missed him by a few millimetres, but he wasn’t able to attack me that easily in mid-air. I flew to Petra and picked her up. With all my strength I carried us both and we locked eyes. As if our thoughts were the same, we nodded and launched another attack.

I threw Petra and she shot fire in Zecels’ direction. He was busy with dodging her fire balls and blocking her kicks to notice that I used my energy again to stop a fireball, which missed him before.

He turned his back to the energy fire ball and fought with Petra, as I made it move in his direction. A few centimetres before hitting him I stopped the ball and said “Zecel you have lost. Turn around.”

He turned and looked at the ball with shock.

We did it. I hugged Petra and we started smiling at each other.

“Good job ladies. I am impressed,” said Zecel.  

Michele, Rick and Lane came to us and started to ask questions about my gift and how it worked. Moreover, they all wanted to touch my wings.

“Next on our plan is that you will fight against each other. We will build two teams, three people each.”

“We are only five people, who will join us?” asked Rick.

Sindra and Zecel looked at each other and smirked.

“Let’s do head or tail to decide,” Sindra said.

Zecel threw the coin and Sindra said “Head”

The coin landed on head, which meant that Zecel had to fight again.

“Michele and Aya you will join me. Rick, Lane and Petra you will fight against us. The same rules apply. No fatal hits and work as a team. Ten minutes break and then we will start. Use the break to develop a strategy. Good luck.”

Michele seemed to be exited to be part of my team and she had an idea. “I saw that you were able to use the fire of Petras gift. Do you think you would be able to use my objects made out of air as well?”

“I never thought about it but let me try.”

Michele formed something, which I couldn’t make out at all. “I don’t think I can use it if I can’t see where it is and what it is.”

“There is a trick. I can only form one thing at a time and weapons like swords, daggers or stuff like shields are my speciality. I tried bigger things like a cube to lock someone in but couldn’t hold it longer than a few seconds. I found out that smaller objects last a lot longer, but it all needs concentration and regular exercise. So, you just have to look at my hands and if you can use your gift on my objects, you would be able to use the objects as well. I know you can shoot your energy pulses as well but maybe there will be some time were a shield or a dagger might come in handy. Don’t you think?”

“Yes for sure. I will try again.”

 I concentrated on Michele’s hands and saw a ripple in the air. I tried to grab the ripple with my energy, and it felt like I had it. “What is it?”

“It’s a shield.”

“Oh cool.”

I held it in front of my chest and said “Try to kick me in the chest. I want to see if it works.”

Michele did as I said and tried to kick me, but I didn’t feel a thing. “It works! That is so cool.”

“How does your gift work? Do you see the objects that you make? Are others able to let’s say make you lose them in a fight? If that is the case, how does it work? You said only one object at a time, which means if you lose one you need to touch it and form something different? Is this how it works?

“Pretty much yes. I can form it and fight with it but if I want to change the form or the size, I need to touch it. It is like fighting with a real weapon just that I can make my own out of thin air,” she grinned.
