Prologue
His mind was a disaster truly, he had no sense of direction, no sense of want anymore. He truly was done for. He had no feelings, they died a long time ago. So why is it that the little pixie has caught his attention? Why was she so endearing to him? Why does she captivate his attention, like no other women has? This can't be love, they've only known each other for five months, but even then he feels such a deep bond with her, one that is unbreakable.
He takes a deep breath, gasping at the fact that he never felt this with Ethereal, never before has he felt such a feeling that went deep in his bones and claimed itself a new piece of himself. He can't. He doesn't remember the last time that he had felt such strong emotions. It was overwhelming, the feeling of wanting to pull her close and apologize for the harsh words that he had spoken. The guilt slowly eating him alive. His mind shifting through apology after apology, not realizing that the women that has made his mind a jumbled mess was already walking away from him.

The young women was broken hearted, her mind silent for once. Her own thoughts put into silence at the thought that the man that was supposed to protect her from all the dangers of the world, the man that was supposed to cherish her, and love her completely truly didn't feel an ounce of love for her. He, as she had heard him so harshly state, was still not over his past lover, the women that occupied his heart and maybe his whole being.
Of course he would still be in love with her she thought, bitterly. They have spent so many centuries together. She, a mere hybrid, didn't stand a chance against a love that at one point was eternal. Eternal. Something that would mean forever in someone's book, but to her it is merely just a fragment of her imagination. There is no such thing as forever, the only eternal that she can think of is the everlasting feeling of pain. Nothing. But. Pain.
So she walks away, after all that is all that she is really good at. Running away that is. Her mind screams at her to turn back, to look back into his piercing red eyes and get lost in them. Maybe then she will wake up from this god awful nightmare, maybe she will be able to live in a different reality, simply by gazing into his mesmerizing red eyes. But alas, as a sad sigh slips through her lips, that would be impossible, she can't teleport herself into a different universe, she can't erase the painful memories, no. That is just her wistfully thinking, but that's all that it is, thinking. Something that she is pretty good at.
And so because of the love that he can't give, both man and women, stand on different ends, both slowly dying inside because of the pain in both of their hearts.
