The sound of footsteps echoed around the room as Gabriel retreated for the night. His footsteps stopped in front of her door, she could see his shadow cast by the lighting in the hall from under the door and she held her breath, praying he wouldn’t come in. His footsteps rescinded and a few seconds later, she heard the sound of a door shutting and she finally let out a breath. She waited a few minutes more, each second felt like an eternity as she waited for him to settle down. To prevent her from escaping, Alex would be sleeping in his room. What he didn’t know was Alex wouldn’t be sleeping and when he was fast asleep they would escape. She waited a few minutes more all the while pacing around the room before moving to the door.
