Liam's POV
When Lydia extended her hand to me and asked if I was going with them, my heart almost exploded with excitement. She wanted me next to her, and who am I to refuse her wishes. Even Alex gave me his approval. Though I knew it was only because of Lydia, I was still glad to get approval from him.
We drove in silence in the car. Alex was driving, and Lydia was sitting in the middle holding Alex's hand, her head resting on my shoulder. I stroked her hair and felt her strength slowly return, it is obvious that our closeness pleased her.
No one dared to say a word. After about half an hour of driving, we finally came across a lake with a waterfall. Then Lydia asked Alex to stop the car so we could get out. I guess the time for talk is come.
We sat by the lake, in the shade of an oak tree, watching the sunrise surrounded by silence.
"I was five years old when my powers first awoke." Lydia said calmly. "At first I didn’t know what that meant, because my powers were not like the powers of my mother or Queen Lyria. But then one night, I was sleeping in my bed when my mother woke me up and took me to the tower where was her room with potions. There my mother and Queen Lyria explained to me that every power is different. But that my powers are different and rare. I am a witch who can use the power of fire and earth, I am a seer, I can see both the past and the future, but I am also a dream walker. I can walk through other people’s dreams, see their lives, their fears, their happy and sad moments. But I can also create illusions in their dreams, manipulate their memories and emotions."
Both Alex and I listened in amazement to Lydia's story. Our mate was a very powerful witch.
"We first met when I was seven, you were very cute boys that no one but me could tell. The first time I touched you I knew you were my mates. The both of you. But your wolves weren't awake, so I had to wait for the right moment to meet you officially. No one can interfere in what the Moon Goddess has decided. When your wolves woke up and you shifted for the first time, a tattoo of two wolves howling at the full moon appeared on my wrist. Since then, I have been able to use magic to connect with you. My spirit made a connection with your wolves so I could see what you were doing and what was going on in your lives."
"It was a lot of fun watching you train, or do anything else. It was like being with you all the time."
"So you've been with us all this time." Alex said.
"Not all the time, but most of the time yes. Mostly in your dreams. But then Alex had to go with your sister to the fairy school. It was the first time you two were separated. Liam was sad, lonely without you, but he knew your sister needed your help, so he said nothing. I was sad for him too, so I tried to be with him as much as possible. Of course through his dreams. One day your mother came into the room and kicked Liam out, ordering him to hang out. But Liam couldn't do anything without you, so he decided to go to a humane city. It was a lot of fun. But it was also dangerous."
"Wait, you were there. How?" I asked in surprise.
"I told you that once I established a connection with your wolves, I could be spiritually with you. To look through your eyes and your emotions."
"So you know whaat happened that day?" Alex asked. "You know how Liam broke our bound."
I was so disappointed and upset every time Alex said I broke our mate bound. I understand he's angry, I'm mad at myself for not being able to remember what happened. But he didn't even ask me for an explanation. He just concluded that I was guilty.
"He didn't do anything like that. He never broke our bound."
"He didn't." Alex said.
"I didn't?" I asked.
Lydia laughed at our confusion and turned to me holding my hand.
"No baby you didn't do anything wrong. You never broke our bound."
"What happened then? Because I can't remember anything from that night."
"That's because I changed your memories."
"What? Why?"
"Your wandering through the human city led you to a bar, there you met a member of your pack. A girl named Natalie."
"I remember that, I remember we talked, she offered me a drink and after that I don't remember anything."
"That's because she poured wolvesban and a dose of tranquilizer into your drink."
"That could have killed him." Alex said visibly furious.
"Luckily she knew the exact dose she needed to pour to make Liam pass out and allow her to take him to a hotel room. There she tried to cast a spell on him."
"What do you mean she tried? And how does a wolf know how to cast spells?"
"That's because her mother is a witch. The same witch who cast a spell on your father and is therefore banished from the pack and the kingdom."
"Why did she want to cast spells on me?"
"She wanted to break our bound. Before you met your mate, she thought she would be able to manipulate fated mates. Spell should keep you from feeling connected to me. In time, you would rejected me, and then our relationship would be broken forever."
"But I don't feel rejecting you. I can feel your heartbeat, but I can't smell your scent, nor can I feel the tingling of your touch. But deep in my heart I know you are a part of me."
"It's because of the spell I cast on you. To prevent Natalie from casting a spell on you, I cast a counter-spell, closing your mind so that no witch can penetrate it. Unfortunately that includes me. While I was doing all this, I was in a deep sleep. The deeper the dream, the stronger the dream walker is. So I went deep into sleep, too deep. I cast protective spells on you, and then my spirit went to the lake, I spent my time with Alex there, it was to prevent him from feeling the effects of the spell. But I went too deep, so I fell into a coma. I was in a coma for two months."
I hugged Lydia and pulled her close. I buried my head in her neck and whispered softly. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. It's my fault. I shouldn't have gone there alone. I'm sorry."
She hugged me, and I began to feel her touch soothe me.
"It wasn't your fault. It never did. I was careless and slipped too deep. But I'm fine now. Saved by my mates."
"How do we undo this spell?"
"We can start like this." Lydia said and kissed me.
