As soon I stepped out of Charlie's car I knew something was up. People were whispering. Eyes were staring. Some gave a look of contempt while others laugh. And all were directed at me. You would think they'd let me live down the humiliation of supposedly being rejected by Julian at the cafeteria that morning. Or was it the paint? I can't hardly tell anymore.
