Chapter 1
Aurelia's POV
Strength left me as I tried my whole best to push my second child out. Trickles of hot sweat poured out of my body as the sterile white walls of the delivery room blurred and all I could hear were the soothing words of the pack's doctor and nurses encouraging me to give a push one more time.
I wished I could tell them how hard I was trying. My husband disagreed when I told him I wanted to undergo a cesarean section. With all my strength, I pushed my second child out, and just as I had expected, it was a boy. A boy and a girl on the same day.
"Congratulations Luna Aurelia! You just delivered twin babies," the voice of Doctor Rachel rang through the air and I smiled weakly with my gaze on my twin babies. My vision was blurry, but I blinked rapidly, trying to stay awake to behold when my husband would walk in to see the babies.
The doctor placed them against my chest. I couldn't fight the tears I'd been holding as they escaped from the corner of my eyes. "Finally," I whispered as a nurse took them away to have them cleaned. The Alpha had always said he couldn't mark me unless he was sure I wasn't barren. The Moon goddess had removed mockery from my face and given me two when I asked for one. It's more like double for my problems.
My heart raced as my wolf leaped for joy at the fragrance of our mate, the fresh smell of sandalwood filled the whole room as he entered, and his golden blue eyes landed on the two little creatures we'd just been blessed with by the moon goddess.
"I hear I'm now a father," his masculine voice resonated throughout the room. I watched his smile widen as he cupped both of them slightly into his arms, rocking them carefully on his chest.
My husband, the Alpha of the Suncrest pack, was fated to me but hasn't marked me yet because he feared I wouldn't give him an heir. I felt so triumphant because he would now make our love a complete one when he finally marked me. Being an Omega didn't stop him from loving me, he just wanted to be sure I wasn't barren because that was his mother's dying wish.
Everyone in the room nodded their heads as they glared at both of us in excitement.
"You both make a lovely couple, Alpha Sebastian." One of the nurses chirped from the end of the room and the rest of her colleagues agreed with her.
"They are so beautiful," he said, and the smile on his lips didn't fade.
"Look who just made me the newest aunt in town." My elder sister called out as she walked into the delivery room.
"You can say that again," I replied in excitement. Janel has been the only family I have had since our parents passed away in an accident on their way back from a trip seven years ago. I was just a teenager then, while Janel had just turned eighteen. We've been the closest and I never hid any secret from her.
"Then we have no use for her anymore," her voice called out, and I became confused. A cunning smile plastered on her face and I shifted my gaze, trying to wrap my head around what she was driving at.
"Isn't that right my love?" She tugged my husband's shirt, and he nodded in affirmation, smiling impatiently, he signaled the doctor to come closer. The whole room was filled with murmurings as to what was happening.
"Take the children away!" he ordered, and the murmurings increased. Janel had a smile of victory on her face as her head hung up high.
"Where are you taking them to?" I asked Sebastian, but he ignored my question as he whispered some words to Janel, who nodded her head in agreement.
"I said where are you taking our children to?" I asked faintly, pulling the hem of his shirt.
"Don't you dare touch me you slut," a slap landed on my face, and he flung my hand off his body. He turned and noticed the doctor was still inside the room, her eyes hung in pity for me and the nurses held my babies behind her.
"Are you deaf?" She gasped as Sebastian yelled at her. "I said take the children away," he ordered, and she rushed towards the door.
She rubbed her hand on her chest and mouthed some words to me. 'Calm down?' How did anyone expect me to be calm? I was lost. I didn't know what was going on.
"Take them to my chambers." Janel bellowed.
My? When did the chambers I and the Alpha lived in turn to hers?
"Sebastian, what's going on? I need answers. Why did you take our children away?"
He hesitated to speak at first, then turned to Janel, "My darling, do me the honors of explaining to your daft sister."
"Thank you, my love." She placed a soft kiss on his lips and then turned to me. My eyes widened at the drama these two were acting and hot drops of sweat trickled under my armpits.
"My dear sister, you are going down. That's what's going on baby sis."
"You must be a fool to think the Alpha would settle for an Omega, you are supposed to be a slave and not rule over people. Wake up sis, you are too weak for this role." she patted my shoulder and the realization of the moment hit me like a tsunami.
I had just been used by the people I loved most in the world. I had just been deceived to produce babies for them.
"Was your mother's dying wish a myth?" I asked Sebastian, who stood looking at me like trash.
"I see your brain is warming up, yes baby." He snorted.
With a warning look, Janel growled at the romantic name he had just called me, which I knew was a mockery. "Let's get this thing done already."
Sebastian's eyes stared blankly at me.
"I, Sebastian Russel of the Suncrest pack, reject you, Aurelia Davis, as my mate."
"What are you saying, Seb? I'm your wife, have you suddenly forg...?" A slap landed on my face before I could finish my statement, anger rose within me and Janel smiled at the magnitude of the slap she had just given me.
"How dare you speak to the Alpha of the pack in such a manner?" Her voice thundered.
"Don't stress yourself, my love, she will wake up to reality when she finally signs the divorce papers." Sebastian urged her. My heart sank at his words as I watched my mate and my sister act all lovey-dovey in front of me. They were not even ashamed of their actions, this wasn't the man I married.
"Why are you doing this, Janel? If not for anything, you are my sister. We have the same blood running in our veins."
I was going to accept his rejection. I knew it was going to be painful for my wolf and me, but I needed to destroy every connection between me and this evil man I called my husband. With a nervous look, I opened my mouth to seal the rejection, "I Aurelia Davis, reject you too, Sebastian Russell, as my mate."
Janel gave a wry smile as she moved closer to the bed. I was too weak to hold a steady gaze at her, but I tried my best. Sebastian just stared at me. I wondered what was running in his mind. Did he regret rejecting me?
"Good girl," with an evil smile plastered on her face, she arranged the strands of hair scattered on my face. "We are not sisters Aurelia, my parents found you lost after the war between our pack and another pack twenty years ago."
"Janel, no…but," my eyes blinked at Jane's words and my heart sliced into a thousand pieces, it became clear that all my life had been built on lies.
I suddenly felt dizzy, closing my eyes faintly, I sank into unconsciousness.
