Aurelia's pov
I stirred on the hospital bed where I had been lying unconscious, roused by the disturbing cries of my daughter. I manage to sit up when a throbbing headache makes me tilt my head backward.
Blinking away the remnants of the harsh rejection I had just faced from my mate, I discovered my babies lying on the bare floor. They were taken away from me by Sebastian, so I was shocked to see them inside the ward and of all places, they were on the cold tiles.
I forced myself to stand up. My daughter was crying, but my son was as quiet as a dove. He seemed to be sleeping as I cupped his little form in my hands. He felt rather too cold, and I concluded that it must have been the effects of the cold tiles on his fragile skin. I observed his breathing but felt nothing.
"Why can't I feel your pulse?" I panicked after observing him. Something wasn't normal.
"Doctor! Help! Help!" I yelled at the top of my voice with all the energy within me.
The doctor rushed into the ward almost immediately with two nurses following her.
"What's the problem, Luna?" From her question, it was clear she was pretending because she was there when Sebastian humiliated me, yet she was just pretending not to know that I'm no longer the Luna of their pack.
"It's my son, I…I woke up and met the both of them on the floor, but he's not…not breathing." I stammered, giving my son to her while she observed his pulse.
Just then, Janel walked in triumphantly, our eyes interlocked and a flush of both anger and hatred rushed within me. She wasn't important right now as my son's life was in danger, so I tried to ignore her.
"What's going on here?" She gawked at us, moving past me as she took my daughter from the babies' cot.
"And what are you doing here?" I snorted at her and for a second she had a look of shock. She was my elder sister, but with the new music she started, she has lost her respect in my sight.
"He's dead," the doctor blurted out in a low tone. Her words hit me like a slap and my heart hung in disbelief.
"What… what did you just say?" I asked her.
"Your son is dead, we'll have to run an autopsy on his body to find out the cause of his death, but I believe he died from suffocation."
"Suffocation? How? He was on the floor when I woke up. Wait, how did he get here in the first place?" I wailed as I hugged my lifeless son, after carrying him for nine months, this pain was too much for me to bear.
"So you finally killed your son? We have to inform the Alpha." Janel bellowed.
"What are you talking about? I woke up to see them lying on the cold tiles, Janel," I yelled at her.
"You'll swallow those words when the Alpha comes for you, keep on talking."
I allowed the tears from my eyes to pour out freely, it was as if the major part of my heart had been shattered. My wolf let out a quiet growl and we both comforted ourselves. I needed to be strong for my daughter, I was going to be her strength.
A few minutes later, Sebastian returned with Janel, fury was written over his face as he cast a deadly stare at me.
"You killed my son to get back at me," he attacked me, holding me by the neck while I gasped for air. His grip was firm, I mouthed pleas and flung my hands in a bid to free myself from his grip, but his eyes became more red and his grip became tighter.
"She just committed murder, she murdered the heir of this great pack to get back at you," Janel muttered.
"Wait, I can explain." I mouthed.
Sebastian finally let go of my neck, but I wasn't spared yet as a huge punch landed on my face. I fell to the ground immediately from the bed.
"Ahhh!" I cried in pain as my waist met with the floor. Sebastian has never raised his hands on me, Janel has successfully poisoned his heart against me. To think he believed I killed our son just to get back at him.
"I woke up unconscious and found them on the floor. How did they get here when you took them away?" I questioned them.
"You must be mad to want to turn this on us, are you accusing the Alpha, or what exactly?" Janel thundered.
"Take her to the courtyard!" Sebastian ordered his guards, who didn't waste time in dragging me away. They didn't mind the drip that was connected to my wrist, and they pulled it out. Drops of blood started gushing out as the injections pierced through my skin.
"There's no way I would kill our son. You have to believe me, my husband."
"Who the hell is your husband?" Sebastian roared, and I closed my eyes in fear of a slap landing on my face. I'd never seen him this angry before. His guards dragged me to the courtyard where the council of elders held their general meeting.
The uproar attracted wolves and Janel whispered some words to a guard who had been walking with her. I stared in disbelief at what my life had turned into. A Luna is now being treated like a slave.
Alpha Sebastian waved his hands as a signal to silence the crowd that was now gathered.
"Today is a sad day for me and this entire pack. I welcomed my twin babies with joy yesterday into this world but the witch I married killed my son out of contempt and jealousy." He addressed the crowd, the murmurings increased, and they all cast wicked stares at me.
"I didn't kill our child, Seb. Why would I do that?" I sobbed, hoping he would believe me, but a whip landed on my back from one of the guards. My wolf groaned in pain, it was from one tragedy to another for us.
"I saw her strangle the child to death this morning when I wanted to bring food to her." A familiar voice called out and everyone turned in the direction of the voice.
"Pamela!" I gasped, surprised that my maid was lying against me.
"So you've been lying all along, thank goodness we have a witness," Janel murmured. I was sure she was behind Pamela's allegations,, Janel always had her way when she wanted something even when we were kids.
"She's lying. I didn't kill my son. I can't," I wailed, rolling on the sandy ground as the guard whipped me continuously.
"We all know the punishment for murder is death, so I'm left with no choice but to pass judgment." Sebastian roared and I paused to hear what he was driving at.
"Aurelia Davis has murdered the heir of the Suncrest pack, and she will die by the sword. This is my decree!"
My eyes widened at Sebastian's words, my husband believed I killed our son, and now he has ordered my execution.
"No! Don't do this please, I've loved you for years, you know me better than anyone else, I can't hurt a fly."
"Shut up you witch. This will serve as a lesson to others."
My heart bled as I watched Sebastian stare at me with disgust. He believed Janel and my maid's accusations.
"Do it!" He ordered the guards.
As they made their way to where I was tied up, I tried to lift myself to run, but I couldn't.
The crowd started stoning me and cuts opened up on my body, gushing out blood.
"You know I'm innocent, please help me, moon goddess." I cried. My wolf groaned as she knew this was our end.
"Goodbye sister," Janel spat on me as she collected the sword from the guard and pierced it through my stomach. My eyes widened and I grabbed her foot. I was losing my breath.
"This isn't fair, moon goddess, please come to my aid." I sobbed, blood splattered everywhere, and I knew this was it.
"Why ... why did y…ou do…do this?" I managed to say as my breath ceased. Taking my last breath, I slumped on the floor and sunk into darkness.
