Risen Chapter 11. Learn to leave a little — Saturday came around way quicker than Kara had expected. The week was full of her usual boring schedule, work was tiresome and her appointment’s with Kelly were the same, hurtful. She couldn’t stop thinking about Tuesday, she talked to Kelly about it. All she said was that, she has been thinking about Alex a lot, considering it was her birthday Sunday, her mind just pictured the incident. Kara agreed but part of her thought it was real, she had seen Alex, she was alive now she just had to find her, but how. Kara was stuck in a dilemma of what she felt and what reality told her. Thoughts running in her mind all night, Kara lied facing the ceiling. She had difficulty sleeping the previous night and all the other nights after Tuesday. Kara was torn between having hope and just moving on, either way, she would suffer. After ten intense minutes of thinking, Kara rolled over to check the time, she had been up for hours now. Just staring at the ceiling, sleep wasn’t finding her nor was her brain letting her rest. She got out of bed, making her way to the bathroom, she had to prepare for the day ahead with Kelly. She ran her hands through her hair, warm water dropping from her wet hair to her skin. With every drop that hit her skin, the more she became relaxed. Kara stayed in the shower some more minutes than usual, she was exhausted with everything. When she got out of the shower, she made her way to the closet. She got dressed in her comfortable home clothes, a t-shirt and a short, it was still early and Kelly wouldn’t be at her apartment for at least two long hours. Her room was a mess, everything was everywhere. Kelly would be there and see the dump of a room Kara slept in, she didn’t want Kelly to think less of her as she already did. Kara got then started cleaning up her room, throwing all the dirty laundry in the basket and her collection of books back in there places, she really had to return the books she checked out from the bookstore. When she was placing her books on the bookshelf, her diary then caught her eye, it was on the first row. It had been months since she wrote anything in it, the only thoughts that filled it were of Alex and there moments, good or bad. She quickly placed the books on the shelf before grabbing the diary out. She hesitated to open it, she knew exactly what the black book contained, opening it would bring back painful memories. She exhaled lightly before placing it back on the shelf, a small piece of something slipped out. Kara bent down to get it, when it was in her hands. She noticed it was a picture of her and Alex, in their swimsuits. She smiled lightly seeing the smiles on their faces, her heart aches deeply as she remembered how Alex got her in the water in the first place. “Oh hell no. Do you know what’s in the water? I’m not getting in there. We only know 5% of what’s in the ocean, Alex. I’m not taking my chances.” Kara argued against swimming for what seemed like the tenth time. “Stop being a smartass and get your ass over here. So I can treat it nicely.” Alex winked at Kara, who was busy trying to hide that she was blushing. They had been at it for several minutes now, Kara would bring up an argument about swimming, Alex would flirt when made Kara relax then agree. But she would back out the very last moment, bringing up another fact. Kara straighten herself before speaking, “Won’t work this time. Five percent Alex, five.” she leaned back on the chair watching Alex enjoy the waters. “Aww, you’re all facts and no risks.” Alex pouted. Kara shrugged uncomfortably in her seat, “Well then, you shouldn’t have dated grandma ass.” Alex knew Kara was upset, her hateful comments towards herself pissed Alex off. Kara always hated on herself, even if Alex was just joking. There was awkward silence between the two, kara glaring at the sky while Alex took in every beautiful aspect of her girlfriend. Alex always felt lucky, have Kara was the best thing that happened to her in all her life. She just wanted to make Kara know that and understand, Alex got out of the water slowly walking to Kara. Who didn’t acknowledge her till her shadow was hovering over her. Alex whispered softly, “Babe. I’m sorry... Sorry.” Kara refused to meet Alex’s eyes. Alex then sat down on the sand her eyes looking up to the sky, “You are fun Kara, you’re also a granny babe.” “Sure makes me feel better.” Kara commented with annoyance in her tone. Alex giggled before continuing, “But you’re my granny. You make things fun, in a good way. You make me laugh and I love teasing you, you’re cute when you are upset. You’re the most fun and risk taking person I know, look at you—dating me.” Alexs voice become even more of a whisper at the end. Alex still couldn’t comprehend why Kara stayed, not once. Alex was the last thing Kara needed but at the same time she was the only thing that she needed. Kara placed her eyes on Alex, she always admired her, in everything. She studied her a bit more, all the times she was with Alex her eyes could never stay away from the beautiful soul in front of her. A lot of thoughts about the two of them ran inside Kara head, all the moments made her heart warm and her smile grow wider. “You’re staring again.” Alex spoke bringing Kara back from her daydream. “If you saw what I saw, you would too.” Alex’s eyes looked at Kara wide in shock, Kara just wore a goofy smirk. She got up from the seat, standing right in front of Alex, “We should swim, am feeling really hot.” Kara positioned her hand out to Alex, to help her get up. “For real?” Alex was surprised, the moment she wanted so bad to happen, just came that easily. “Did I stutter?” Kara raised her eyebrows questioning Alex, excitement was all over Alex’s face. She didn’t question just pulling Kara’s arm, they ran towards the water. Alex willy jumped in, Kara just stood there. The only thing that was of her body that touched the water were her feet, Alex reimagined, water flowing down her hair with the brightest smiles. “You coming granny?” Kara was slightly annoyed by the name, but she knew Alex just wanted to get under her skin and annoy her, which she succeeded in doing. Without any thought into it, Kara walked over to Alex, the water taking up her lower body then her upper body. Her head was above the water facing Alex’s, who wore an evil smirk. Catching Kara off guard, Alex pulled them into the water, their bodies engulfed by the waters. Kara was the first to reimagined followed by Alex who was laughing lightly. “I can’t believe you did that.” Kara glared at Alex. “You needed that.” Alex was right, she needed that, but Kara had a revenge planned. She splashed Alex with the water starting a water war between the two. Their giggles intoxicated the people around. Kara held the photo close to her chest as she smiled weakly. She returned the photo back, then went to the kitchen. She made herself a bowl of cereal, eating it with a heavy. Then a knock came through her front door, she walked over to it and opening it with her other arm she came face to face with Kelly. “Hie.” Kelly had a friendly smile on her face, Kara smiled back forgetting she had full mouth of cereal. She quickly closed her mouth, embarrassment overtaking her face.
