Risen Chapter 12. Just two friends — “So... What will we do first.” Kara asked. Both the girls where on the couch, Kelly had just arrived a few minutes ago. “We could head out for lunch and then just walk around the park and stuff.” Kelly shifted uncomfortable in the couch. She was afraid of triggering something in Kara, after the long week they had, she was walking on glass around her. “That’s okay I guess. So movies now ‘till noon?” Kelly nodded in agreement and Kara could notice she was uncomfortable, she felt more than sad knowing everyone mostly Kelly walked on glass around her, it never pleased her. “I’m sorry about this week and me being me. I’m trying but it’s really hard.” Kara spoke as she was scrolling through the movies she had. Kelly held out her hand placing it on Kara’s bare hand, for a second Kara wanted to run, shove Kelly as far as possible. But she just didn’t, she took breathed in and out softly, she had to try hard to move pass it. “I know you are, Kara and I know you will get a lot better, that’s why am here. I could be your friend, if you permit me.” Kelly lightly squeezed Kara hand, there was a sight of relief, for the first time Kara felt safe—like she could finally move pass it, she just had to let people in. Kara gave Kelly a genuine smile and she continued scrolling through movies, their hands never leaving each other. “The old guard?” Kelly nodded in agreement. They started watching the movie in silence, Kelly’s palm in Kara’s. The movie finally came to an end, after long two hours of nothing but bliss. “Well, that’s the best two hours of the week.” Kara faced Kelly. Coming face to face with Kelly beautiful features, her soft pink lips and her ocean blue eyes— Kelly looked back into Kara’s chocolate eyes. The world disappeared for a split second, Kelly started leaning in getting closer and closer to Kara. There were so many thoughts running through Kara’s mind, some part of her told her to run but the other just wanted Kelly’s lips on hers. Her mind went blank, Kara closed her eyes anticipating Kelly’s lips. When she felt Kelly’s presence closer, Kara swung her eyes open in panic, jumping off the couch she landed on the floor. The tension in the room grew very uncomfortable, neither of them said a word for what seemed minutes, staring at eachother in shock and regret. Kara cleared her throat deciding to be the bigger person, she spoke. “Lunch?” Kelly just nodded her head in agreement, she was shocked at what she almost did. She wanted badly to do it, every single day but it felt wrong thinking she almost destroyed their friendship. Kara got up from the floor then quickly rushed to her bedroom, she threw on a vest and some trousers with a pair of sneakers. When Kara returned to the sitting room, Kelly was on the counter with a grass of water in hand, she seemed to be in deep thought. She stopped once she spotted Kara across from her, she jumped off the counter. “Shall we?” she gestured toward the door with a bright smile on. Kara nodded in agreement then walked over to door opening it “After you, ma’am.” Kelly smiled lightly and then she walked out, Kara right behind her. Kara sat on the passenger’s seat as Kelly drove them to the restaurant for lunch. They both were back to the silence, the very awkward kind, Kara then started to play music. The sweet melodies played as she stared out the window. The drive only took 30 minutes, Kelly parked the car before they got out and headed to the restaurant. Kelly and Kara walked to the restaurant, the delicious smell greeted both their nostril. They both inhaled the heavenly sound and smiled, they went and sat on the table near the window. “Where did you find this place?” Kara asked as she looked around the simple but elegant restaurant. The only place she ever went out to eat was the little dinner near the bookstore, and the pizza place around her area, this was all new to her but she liked it. “I mostly eat here, so yeah. Do you like it?” Kara gave a nod in agreement. Kara ordered a chicken salad, while Kelly ordered chips with salad and steak. “That’s all you’re going to have?” Kelly questioned. Kara nodded her head “Yeah, still kinda full. I did have my breakfast two hours ago.” Then there was silence again. Kara looked everywhere but in Kelly’s eyes, the encounter that happened earlier was still on her mind, she couldn’t stop feeling guilty. After minutes of silence and awkward glances, Kelly spoke parallel to the topic but it did start a conversation. “Really black. That’s a bit dark, don’t you think?” Kelly asked with a raised eyebrow, Kara disagreed to the accusation. “Black isn’t dark at all, rather the contrary. It’s the most beautiful colour, it’s sad yes but it’s so much more. It tells a story, it comforts and it’s beautiful, lucky are the ones who see it.” She sat back on the chair looking directly into Kelly’s blue eyes. She smiled lightly before asking her the same question. “And you, what colour would you prefer wearing for the rest of year.” “Pink!” Kelly replied without any hesitation, Kara gave her a mocking stare before bursting into laughter. “And what’s funny.” Kelly crossed her arms waiting for a response. “You would go around looking like a six year old ocean eyed pink rose in the streets.” “At least I wouldn’t look like the Grim reaper all year” Kara gave her a fixed glare before giving her an amused smirk. Kelly’s cheeks instantly became red which made Kara smile this time, the red in her cheeks got deeper. At that very moment there meals arrived, they ate it in total comfortable silence, stealing glances once in a while. After they finished having their lunch, they made their way to the park. The sunny was shining fairly as they walked along the path. “By far, do you like today?” Kara agreed with a nod and they kept walking, enjoying the scenery. “But honestly apart from pink, would you choose any other colour?” Kara looked at Kelly as they continued walking. Kelly placed a lock of her hair behind her ear before looking at Kara, Kara’s brown eyes shinning from the sun light mesmerised Kelly, instantly she was distracted. “Brown” she blurt out the words without looking away from Kara. Kara shrugged then turned away from Kelly’s stare, Kelly was back to reality and they began walking again. “Why brown?” Kara asked without looking at her and Kelly didn’t force her to look. “It has so much life, it’s down to earth and when the light reflects on it, like your eyes it’s so beautiful. You could get lost in them.” “Did you just say my eyes are beautiful and you could get lost in them?” Kara questioned her voice a bit shocked but seductive at the same time. Kelly gave her a simple nod while her head was held really low, trying to hide her blush. “Well thank you. I think the same about your blue ocean eyes.” Kelly’s blush grew even brighter. They walked a bit further before reaching an ice cream truck, they both bought ice cream, then after they continued their walk. After hours of being in the park and walking, talking and eating, they watched the sun set together. Kara was satisfied, today was a lot better than her lonely nights or boring days. “Well that a great relaxing day.” Kara spoke catching Kelly’s attention, she just smiled before replying “So you’re up to do this again, with me?” Kara agreed which made Kelly’s heart dance. They watched the sun set for a few more minutes, before they decided to leave. “Would you like to go clubbing?” Kelly asked as they walked back, Kara could clearly see how nervous she was. It wasn’t that late, a few hours of clubbing wouldn’t hurt anyone “Sure.” They walked back to the car, the night had just began. They pushed through the bodies making their way to the bar, it had just been a couple of minutes before they arrived but with all the pushing, Kara was already regretting. “Two shots of vodka.” Kelly told the bartender, Kara sat right beside Kelly, the shots arrived. Kelly got one glass and Kara the other, they smiled lightly before dropping the liquor in their mouths. “I definitely didn’t miss that.” Kara spoke as the liquor burnt her throat, Kelly lightly giggled “I can’t say the same. What will you be having?” “Probably a small beer.” she told both Kelly and the bartender, Kelly looked disappointed by her order. “That’s no fun. I’ll have a bloody Mary.” Once the bartender left, Kara looked at Kelly with a playful smirk on her face. “Well, one of us has to drive. I’m that one person, your designed driver.” Kelly pouted, Kara found amusement she just chuckled. Kara remained the design driver and only drunk one bottle of beer, Kelly on the other hand had cocktail after cocktail, it was as if she was trying to get herself drunk to master the courage. She was on her fifth bloody Mary, Kara was her support system, she could barely sit. When she finished Kara dragged her out of the club, she had enough. Everything that came out of her mouth was practically nonsense, she couldn’t give Kara the right map to her apartment so she took her to her’s. Kelly arm was over Kara’s shoulder give her support, anytime she would trip and fall. Kelly was laid down on Kara’s bed as she slowly started removing her dress and shoes. Kelly sat up looking down on Kara, “You’re pretty” she ran her hand through her hair getting Kara’s attention. Kara got up from the floor, she was about to head to the closet but Kelly pulled her closer to her face, only inches were left. Without any warning, Kelly’s lips crush on Kara’s. Kara was shocked but soon recovered and quickly pulled away, Kelly frowned. Kara quietly walked to the door planning on leaving her a lone, but Kelly spoke, her voice only a whisper “Please Stay.” Kara feet stopped midway.
