Risen Chapter 5. Inferno — It was morning, Kara didn’t have a peaceful night at all. Her heart wasn’t at peace and her mind wouldn’t let her rest, it was her greatest enemy. She rolled out of bed, she couldn’t sleep in, not today. She has her boxing class today after a full week of making up excuses, today she had none and she needed it, she needed to let the anger out. Kara hit the bathroom first, going to the gym looking tired won’t please her trainor, Marcus. So she took a cold shower, it would fully wake her up. When she got out, she was shivering, hugging herself trying to keep herself warm. “Never again. Never again.” she whispered under her breath. Taking a cold shower around 6 An wasn’t a good decision, but in the afternoon it might be. She got dressed in her gym clothes, a simple black shirt and a short with sneakers on her feet. When she tied her short hair in a bun, she carried her phone, headsets, hoodie and a flat cap along with her bag pack. She stopped by her kitchen for breakfast, boxing without eating is a total no no. She made herself a bowl of cereal, she ate it in sort of a hurry, she was on a tight schedule. When she got out of her apartment, she locked the door and was off to the bus stop. Marcus’ gym wasn’t every far, it was in a walking distance, burning a few calories distance. But Kara was already running late, she had to be there on time or the session would be hell. The bus came sooner than expected. Kara rode at the back of the bus, avoiding the looks she received. She wasn’t quite used to it, you know the stares. She was a beautiful woman, her tall and slender body, attracted people’s gazes. She always thought it was the height they were looking at and not her looks, but little did she know it was both. Her eyes were brown, a moderate shade between light and dark. She had short dark hair, prefect natural curls. Her skin wasn’t quite rich with melanin as that of her mother, but her skin did portray a hint of it. She sat down at the back of the bus, then pulled her hoodie over her head right after the flat cap. Kara always listened to music on bus rides, to kill time. She first listen to silence by Khalid X Marshmello. Kara felt attached to this song, every lyric suited her life perfectly. ‘love only left me alone, but now am at one with silence’ was so true and so were the rest of the lyrics. Music played through out the whole ride, Kara listened to all the songs from start to finish. It was finally her stop, Kara got up from her seat and walked to the door. When she got off she started to walk to the gym, it was about half away from the bus stop. She held her head down and her hands were settled in her hoodie, she walked at a running pace. Within ten minutes she arrived, right in front of gym inferno. The gym had two floors, the lower on is where Kara did boxing. The upper one was where other people did other exercises, the weight lifting, those things. Kara got in, there were a few guy’s by the door, near the fridge. Kara noticed none of them, she walked passed them all. Before she could walk any further a voice called out to her, she stopped and the lady walked up to her. “You’ve been missing. Marcus will be pleased to see you. I know I am.” she placed her arm over her shoulder. Apart from Marcus, Tabby was one of Kara’s friends here, sort of friends in a way. She was Kara opponent in the boxing ring, no real hate was between them. “Of course you are. You can’t wait to kick my ass.” Kara said as she and Tabby walked to the locker room. “Well, you know I would do a lot more than kick that ass of yours.” Kara felt embarrassed, Tabby always flirted with her or teased her. Kara said nothing she just shoving her bag in, she started walking out but Tabby spoke. “Still a woman of small talk, I like. I bet I can get you to say more in just one night.” Tabby smirked as she watched Kara rush out. “There is my most slacked off student. What god’s do we have to praise today for your presence, Zeus or Medusa.” Marcus spoke as he hugged Kara, for a boxing trainor, he liked hugs like a baby. It's funny cause he was a scary piece of animal, his muscles weren't all that but his height was intimidating. “Clotho. It would be her.” Kara withdrew from the hug, a smile appeared on her face. “Then we’ll do that. Now let’s go, I’m planning on tiring you out.” Kara growled in regret, of course he will push her to the edge. It’s been a while week since she exercise, tomorrow will be a painful day. They both walked to the boxing ring. They both wore their boxing gloves, Kara was very uncertain of this, Marcus was an animal in the ring. She even preferred Tabby over him, and she was a maniac, either way she was going home with a sore body. “Are you afraid, Ka?” Marcus shouted from his side of the ring. He called her Ka, not as a short form of her name or anything. But a nickname he said, in Egyptian mythology, Ka was the spiritual part of the soul that survived after death. He considered her a survivor, the nickname best suited her ‘cause she was. “Afraid would be an understatement. I’m petrified.” Kara stood up from where she sat. They both met at the middle of the boxing ring, the big guy over shadowed the slender girl. “You should be.” Marcus spoke as he looked down on her, he wore a smirk. “Okay. No rules apply but I do want a clean no blood fight. Marcus don’t squash her like a bug.” Tabby giggled before continuing speaking “begin.” Tabby walked out of the ring. Marcus through a punch, successfully Kara dodge just in the nick of time. “What happened to ‘don’t squash her like a bug’” Kara moved herself Futher away, but still well aware a punch would fly in anytime. “I didn’t agree to any of that. Now shhh, let me teach you slacking off is brutal.” Kara felt a punch in her stomach, she stumbled back. The pain triggered anger within her, she got up and prepared herself to strike Marcus. “Uh-huh, there she is.” Marcus grimmed as Kara charged for him. He always knew punching Kara made her upset, when she’s upset, she actually boxes better. Marcus dodged the punch but then another followed, right in his stomach. He didn’t see it, he was distracted by the punch coming to his face, he didn’t bother to block the other. He stepped back a bit, Kara had a face full of satisfaction. The two kept at it, punching and dodging, testing eachother for nine rounds. For 2 hours straight, that’s when they gave up, they both were sweaty and got brutal punches from eachother. “You weren’t that bad after all.” Marcus complimented Kara as they got out of the boxing ring, she just smiled. “That wasn’t as satisfying. Why didn't one of you faint.” Tabby commented as Marcus and Kara walked over the fridge, they needed water, cold refreshing water. “You have issues.” Marcus told her. “And you notice now.” Kara commented then she drunk her water all the way down. “Yeah right. When is it my turn to kick your ass.” Tabby smirked by the thought of her own words. Kara made her way to the locker room without answering her. She got her things from the small locker then reappeared Infront of the two. “I’ll make sure to come often. Now I got to go.” she told her two gym friends. “You better. Goodbye.” Marcus commented then waved at her. “Call me. Any night.” Tabby told Kara with a huge smile on her face. “Hmm” With that she walked out of the gym, her body all sweaty.
