Risen Chapter 6. I miss you — When she got out of the bus, she made her way to the little flower shop around the corner. “The usual?” Linda asked Kara, she nodded yes. Kara visited this flower shop every time she was going to see her, Linda always remembered her cause of her smile and her big tips. “Here you go.” Linda handed her the bundle of daisy’s, she paid for them and then walked out of the stole. Kara walked a bit before approaching the familiar landscape. It greeted her, like every other day when she came here. Kara was sad, visiting this place made her sad. But she had to see her, it’s been way too long, she missed her. She walked up to the love of her life’s tombstone. Alexandra reeves, a loving daughter, sister and fiancée (March 8th, 1996 - October 10, 2019). Kara sat down, her back on the tombstone. She laid the flowers down, daisy’s were Alex’s favourite flowers. “Hie, it’s me again, your fiancée.” Kara spoke, she laid her head back leaning on the tombstone. Her legs forwarded and her arms hugging them. “I know it’s been long since I came here, please don’t be mad. I miss you though, it’s been five months, five Alex and nothing’s been okay. You’re not okay, you left me— alone.” she felt tears in her eyes, she hasn’t cried since her last visit, which was about a month ago. She let them flow, the pain was killing her. “It’s your 24th birthday today. You’re finally my age, though am turning 25 soon. It’s funny right, how you always wanted to turn 25 but am the one turning 25 and you’re gone.” Kara smiled weakly as tears rolled down her cheeks. “Remember when we first met, at that bus stop, I tripped over and accidentally dropped your phone. You were so upset with me, I didn’t plan for it to go that way. Break your phone, but I did plan on talking to you. I just didn’t know how, I spent like 20 minutes saying sorry you just kept shouting at me—am glad you did though, I heard your voice and I was mesmerized.” Kara sniffed, tears running down her cheeks. Thinking of Alex made her heart ache, it made her feel lost and alone, which she was. “I miss you, Alex. I need you, I can’t say another day without you. The void is eating me up.” Kara hugged the tombstone tightly as she cried, all the pain and sorrow, everything, made her tears flow even more. An hour passes by, she was still in that position, crying her heart out. When there were footsteps from afar, Kara didn’t move at all, she didn’t care, she just wanted to lay there with Alex. “Excuse me. Are you the one who has been leaving flowers on this tombstone, the past months. You stopped last month, but these are the same set of flowers, her favourite.” A woman’s voice asked, the voice sounded familiar. “Wait. Kara is that you? I thought you died” Kara then recognised the voice, it was Mrs. Reeves, Alex’s mother. Kara quickly wiped away her tears, she was supposed to be dead, no one she see her or they’ll come for her and thus time they will make sure she stays dead. She pulled the hoodie over her head before grabbing her bag she got up, it was time to disappear again. “Kara!” The woman grabbed Kara arm, stopping Kara. She didn’t bother look at the woman, her head was held low, the cap and hoodie hiding her face. “I’m not Kara, ma’am. I got wasted and slept at the cemetery, Sorry if I slept on your sisters tombstone.” her voice was raspy from all the crying. “She’s not my sister, Kara. She was my daughter, the beautiful soul you fell in love with, your fiancée. Alex—” Kara cut the woman speech short when she freed her arm from her grip. “I’m sorry ma’am, I don’t know you.” with that she walked away. She missed Alex and hearing her mother’s voice made her wish it was Alex instead. She looked all angles making sure Mrs. Reeves didn’t follow her, when it was clear, she started off. She didn’t have to wait for the bus, she planned on walking back home. To clear her head and pass time, she walked down the road with her head hanging low and her eyes puffy. Kara kept walking and walking, it would take an hour or so for her to be Infront of her apartment building. The sun hit her body, with everything she had on, she was practically being cooked. After a long tiresome walk, she was finally here, home. She unlocked the door and got in, she slammed the door before throwing herself on the couch. She was tired—it didn't describe it well, she was exhausted, sad and confused as well as hungry. After minutes of laying on the couch all sweaty, Kara finally got up from the bed, she had to shower, she needed a long hot shower. She locked the door, before heading to her room. She got undressed in her dirty clothes. The clothes she had worn earlier were thrown into into the dirty laundry basket. She made her way to the bathroom then made her way into the shower, the warm filled the room. Every drop that hit Kara’s body made her feel relaxed, she felt so calm but yet she wasn’t. She took the soap and traced it all over her body, then she came across her little arm tattoo, just after her armpit. The memories came rolling in, like a flood. “I know you. You can’t get a tattoo, you would cry like a child.” Alex laughed which annoyed Kara. “No you don’t, I certainly can.” Kara said annoyed by her girl’s accusation. Kara watched Alex with a confused face, Alex was putting on her clothes and Kara didn’t know why. “What are you doing” Kara asked watching Alex cover up her perfect body. “You’re getting a tattoo. Now dress up and let’s go.” Alex smiled as she saw the panic in her fiancées face. “You chickening out babe?” she sat down on the bed while she held her hand. “It’s okay, we don’t have to do it, I was just proving a point.” Alex chuckled. “Oh hell no. You ain’t proving shit.” Kara got out of bed and quickly got dressed in a simple short and t-shirt. “let’s go.” she grabbed Alex by the hand dragging her out of their bed room. “Sure thing woman.” Alex smiled as she slipped her hand into Kara’s. “So what tattoo are you getting. A big lion on your back or beautiful, big ones, lots of them.” Alex enjoyed teasing Kara, the look on her face right now was bringing all different types of satisfaction. “No, just words. Here.” she point underneath her arm, just after her armpit. “Words? What words.” Alex’s face was questioning. “forever together.” Kara smiled widely after she said those words, Alex smiled too. “Yes I like that idea. forever together.” Alex kissed her hand as they walked in. Tears started rolling down her eyes again, her body weak from today, she just sat down as the water hit her body and her tears came out. Kara finally stopped crying and got out of the shower. Her body was exhausted and hungry, she would collapse anytime. She got dressed, her hair still wet. She heat up the leftovers from yesterday’s lunch, she already remembered a lot about Alex today, it was her birthday too, she might as well eat cooked food. She waited as the food was being heated up in the microwave. When it was done, she when to sit on the couch. “Happy birthday babe, I miss you.” she held her tears back and began to eat.
