The demon within.

Jade was viewing at some sample slide under the microscope scope when something startled her, she jumped up and knocked down the sample tray pouring out all of the samples that had been brought in that morning. She immediately knew she was in deep trouble and knew nobody will believe what she saw under the microscope. She immediately disinfected the area and disposed the broken vials. She walked out of the laboratory to the cafeteria feeling like everyone was staring at her. She could hear some of her workmates mocking her has she walked passed them. Jade sat on her usual spot at the laboratory cafe on the furthest corner sipping on her tea and lost in her thought when Mike Washington the head of department approached her. "Your supervisor tells me that there was an accident in the laboratory caused by you" he stared blankly at Jade who knew this was going to happen already. "why did you destroy those DNA samples? damn! they were very expensive to obtain and God knows if we shall be able to obtain more samples from that God forsaken island." " I am sorry sir, it was never my intention to destroy the samples. Everything happened too fast." Jade tried to explain. Mike was a notorious boss who ruled his kingdom as he called the molecular biology department ruthlessly. He was an impatient man who had no room for mistakes. "Those samples costed us millions of dollars young lady. I got two options for you, one is to fire you right away and two is for you to pay for the damages. Which one will it be?" Mike roared angrily as he turned his back and stormed out of the cafe. Jade loved her work and was employee of the year twice in a row, she felt her world turn upside down. With tears pouring down her melanin cheeks Jade stood up and ran towards her car in the parking lot, jumped in and drove off with tears blinding her. She felt a surge of emotions take over her. It was a mixture of anger, hate and a new kind of excitement she had never felt before. She arrived home and rushed straight to bed. She couldn't not shake the new emotions away and laid there tossing and turning. As she started drifting to sleep she heard someone coming up the stairs to her bedroom. Her whole body froze, her heart started beating Soo fast she feared the intruder will hear it. Her bedroom door was kicked open and two figures walked in, one of them jumped on top off her and started strangling her Soo hard that she felt life leaving her body. As she was dying she saw an old woman looking down at her with the most evil grin on her face. " Use your powers ngaa" she urged Jade and the disappeared. She felt a surge of adrenaline take over her small body, she grabbed the man's hand from her neck and threw him against the wall. His friend held a pistol out to Jade who was now standing up and glaring down at him. Her eyes had turned black, her skin was as pale as death, she started floating on the air. The room suddenly went cold. The second intruder was scared for his life that he wet his pants. In a blink he pulled the trigger to shot at the monster that was floating towards him. Jade coldly looked at the bullet that seemed to turn back around and strike the intruder on his hand. The man dropped his gun and rolled on the floor in pain. Jade dropped on the ground exhausted and she could hear more people running up the stairs. Before she fainted she could hear someone tell her "ma'am you are safe now, it's the police" She woke up in the hospital and a police officer was sitting beside her bed. She tried to raise her head, the officer saw she was awake and rushed to help her sit up. "what happened?" she asked the officer. "detective Aron will be with you shortly, just relax and try to remember why Mike Swanson would want you dead." the officer told her. "Hello? am detective Aron West working on a case about Fin laboratories conducting illegal and dangerous research." the handsome man introduced himself. " You're beautiful " Jade said back. This wasn't like her to speak her mind out, she felt Soo embarrassed and looked away from detective Aron West. " why did those guys try to kill you?" "You were lucky we had been watching you for sometime otherwise those guys could have killed you." "how did a small person such as you defend yourself?" " I just learnt that you were fired from Fin labs today" "Will you be willing to come down to the station to give out your statement miss" The nurse attending to Jade walked in the room and requested the detective to leave the room. " how are you feeling miss?" she incurred politely. "Girl you need to check on your water intake, you were Soo dehydrated". she jokingly said at Jade with a smile. After the check up Jade was informed that she was okay to leave the hospital.She was relieved to be leaving. She had Soo much going on in her head but one think she knew for sure is that something from her past was haunting her.
