Chapter 56

Annalisa’s POV

I am surprised by the response of the other alphas. After the challenge is completed, I receive congratulations, compliments and support from all the other alphas and heirs present. It seems Alpha Ethan was the only one with doubts and if anyone else did have doubts, I erased them by showing my skills. I stayed and mingled with the other alphas for a while before excusing myself to change and prepare for the second half of the meeting. I finally got a chance to talk to Alpha Mitch. He was a good friend of my dad’s and would come to the pack often. I remember his daughter Casey, who is also present. We were not close because she is older than me, but she was always nice to me when I was around her. We talk about the things that have happened, and he offers assistance with whatever plan we have to fix things. We promise to meet up after all of this is over. When I got to my room, my aunt had already put out a new outfit for me. A simple blue sweater dress and heals. I changed and head towards the hospital. I must go and see Alpha Curtis. I never meant for him to get hurt, but sometimes, Ruby and I forget we were blessed with extra strength from the Goddess.

On my way to the hospital I am stopped by Maura and Mina. They are twin sisters that I became friends with when I came for warrior training. Their mother is a witch and their father is a wolf. Maura is a strong wolf and one of the elite warriors, but her witch powers are diminished, and she has never been able to do much with them. Mina, her twin sister, is the opposite. She has all her mom’s witch powers and the only wolf powers she received was a heightened sense of smell and eyesight at night. She doesn’t have a wolf counterpart. Her coolest power is that she gets visions. When she gets a vision it can be scary because it looks like she’s having a seizure, but she has been helpful to so many due to this power. I hug them both as they come up to me.

“Congratualations! You really kicked butt and showed those men to not question women’s abilities today” Maura says

“Thank you. I was glad to do it. When are they going to realize how awesome we are” I say laughing

“Anna, I had a vision. The Goddess sent me a message for you. She has given you and Ruby another power. She was saving it for when you met your mate, but she has seen that this is not going the way she hoped, but she wants you to have this power. It is the power to heal. Ruby will know how to use it, just listen to her”

“Are you serious?”

“Yeah, she is very proud of the progress you are making”

“Thank you. I need to go see Alpha Curtis. I didn’t mean to put him in the hospital”

I say goodbye to them and continue to the hospital. I go to his room and knock on the door slowly entering.

“Alpha Curtis? I wanted to come see you. Is it okay?” I ask

“Sure, come in Annalisa” Curtis responds. No anger noted in his voice

“You never know how someone you put in the hospital will respond to you. So, I tend to proceed with caution”

“This is not your fault. We were sparring and when you spar there’s a possibility that you can get hurt. I will be fine by tomorrow. It is even easier for me to talk now, my wolf is healing me. How are you?”

“I am fine thank you for asking. Can I ask did you mean what you said before the challenge began?”

“100%, I don’t agree with my dad. If a female has the same breeding and teaching as a male, there is no reason she shouldn’t be an alpha. I will be signing your petition, along with most of my family. Only my dad has an issue with it, which I don’t understand. I wish you luck in getting the law changed”

“Thank you. There is something else I would like to offer, but I need you to keep it a secret”

“Sure” Curtis says confused

I walk to his right side and put my hand over his ribs. We hear a growl and I look at Donovan sitting on the other side of him. There is something about him that I can’t quite put my finger on. There is a pull there, but how can that be when I am mated to Nicholas. I go back to focusing on Curtis. Listening to Ruby, I rest my hand over his ribs. A soft red light shines from my hands. After a few minutes, the light goes away and I step back, I feel a little weak but am able to stand on my feet. Note to self, healing power can be draining. I look at Curtis, and he takes a deep breath, no sign of pain when he does.

“You healed me?”

“Yes, but please keep it to yourself. We can say when I visited, I bought one of the healers, and she was able to heal you”

“Not a problem. I will not tell a soul. Thank you so much Annalisa. I do have a question. Did you hug someone recently? There is a scent on you that I think belongs to my mate”

“Are you sure? Because if you are I can contact the person's right now”

“Yes, there is a scent on you that has my wolf going crazy. It’s not your scent but on you” he says

“Okay, give me a minute”

I step out the room and call Mina. I tell her to get her sister and come to the hospital. There is someone here they need to meet. I also go get the Doctor, so Curtis can be discharged. I walked back into the room and Curtis is standing talking to Donovan.

“The Doctor is on his way to see and hopefully discharge you. I also called the twins to come see you” I say

“Twins? I have twin mates?”

“They are identical twins, so they both should be your mates”

The smile that grows on his face is indescribable. Mina and Maura are loved already, and he hasn’t even met them yet. A minute later Dr Carter walks in, he assesses Curtis and does a set of vitals. Astonished by his healing ability, he discharges him. As we walk out of the hospital, I see the twins, they are to our right but walking towards us. They are not in Curtis’s line of sight, but I notice when their scent reaches him. He stops and starts sniffing the air. He then whips his head in their direction and runs to them. Lifting them both in the air as he yells ‘MATE’. Their squeals and his growls are all that is heard after that. I smile to myself, because that is how the mate bond is supposed to be.

I start to walk past them, heading back to the meeting.

“Anna!” I hear

I look back to see Mina trying to get out of Curtis’s arms to talk to me. He finally let her go, and she runs to me.

“Because the Goddess saw what was happening with your current mate, she has created a bond with you and another. It is not strong and will only grow once you make a decision about your current mate. But this person does feel something towards you”

“Another mate bond?”

“She wants you to be happy with a mate, Anna. She is giving you a choice. If things work out with your current mate, the spark with the new one will fade like nothing happened, but if not, things will happen that puts you with the new mate, allowing the bond to grow”

“How about, no mate and I live happily ever after by myself”

“Not the Goddesses plan for you, sweetie”

“Great! Okay, thanks for letting me know. Get back to Curtis before he storms over here and takes you” I say hugging her

She squeals and runs back to him. I look over to Donovan

“Ruby, do you think he’s the new mate the Goddess bonded us with?”

“I do, there is something there, but it is not strong”

“Agreed. I say we focus on completing our mission and then worry about the whole mate situation”

I walked away and headed back to the meeting. Who ever heard of being blessed with three mate bonds?
