Dr. Jordan- Well I was looking at the test results and to be honest with you. It's not looking very good due to the fact that he was born blind. "Then Darien's mother Maria looked at Darien's father Andrew and started crying onto his shoulders." Andrew- I don't care what the doctors have to say he's still my son and I love him just the way he is. "Darien grew up like any other kid, playing with friends, having fun, doing chores. There was nothing Darien couldn't do the same as any other kid." "Darien learned how to read, write and keep up with his homework, using braille, but most days Darien was picked on because he was smarter than most kids. Two kids in particular didn't like Darien because of that he was blind and smarter at the same time." "April 17th ,2010 "Darien is now 10 years old" and goes to Whitson Elementary School." Devon- Well well well, what do we have here? Michael- Looks like we have a punk ass blind boy who thinks he's better than everybody. Darien- I don't think that guys. Michael- Since you wanna be a f*****g smartass guess how many fingers I am holding up. Darien- I don't know. Devon- Of course you don't. "Then Devon came behind Darien and pushed him down into the sandbox." Devon- I bet you didn't see that coming f*****g loser. "Then Michael and Devon started kicking sand into Darien's face, not being able to see them or protect himself Darien just laid there and covered himself up into a ball the best he could. Hoping that a teacher would come in and stop them." "Devon and Michael then kicked sand at him one last time before walking off to class." "After the bell would ring, students would go back inside the school happily after recess, but Darien would just stay there in the sand, "asking God why he chose to make him blind of all people." "Darien hated being picked on by Devon and Michael. He hated it so much that he would lie to his parents and skip school just so he didn't have to go. Anyways Darien only had one friend that he would call his best friend and that was Romeo." "Romeo didn't care that Darien was blind, he never even questioned Darien about it or even spoke of it, but Romeo hated the fact that Darien blamed God for his blindness everytime they brought it up. Romeo thought Darien was turning into his father Andrew who was once a very religious person, who went to church every sunday with his wife Maria." "That was until Darien was born and doctors said that Darien wouldn't ever have the chance to see like everybody else. At first Andrew thought god was testing him and testing his fate and beliefs in him." "But as time moved on and the more money they put into finding a doctor that would be able to cure Darien's blindness the more upset Andrew got towards god. Because the doctors couldn't cure his son. Andrew then started to believe that he was being punished by god and believed that god gave up hope in him." "It got to the point where Andrew stopped going to church with his wife and Darien, he stopped praying and he didn't even want them praying it wasn't allowed anymore. But his wife and son didn't listen to him and they continued going to church and praying." "His wife Maria believed that Andrew shouldn't blame god for how Darien turned out. If there was any hope at all for Darien to see one day, they were still taking it." "June 9th 2017 "Darien is now 17 years old" a senior in high school." "It's been 7 years since Romeo and Darien became best friends, this was going to be their last year together before going off to college. But no one ever expect the unexpected." "It was the day Romeo's mother passed away from terminal cancer, and that day something broke inside Romeo. He wasn't the same friend afterwards, he rarely talked to Darien during or after his mother's funeral. He was different, a lot different." "Romeo ended up changing his cellphone number and moving away. His mother's death changed him and he disappeared from society, rumors went around that he might have gone off and joined the Marines but Darien thought otherwise." "However he still prayed for Romeo's safety each and every night while saying his prayers. But things inside Darien's own life were about to change drastically." "In a blink of an EYE."
