CHAPTER 1
Tiara's POV
I watched as they laid my father's coffin into the earth.
At that moment, I did not know if my tears were because of him or because he left us in this cold world after getting a contract that led the FBI to us.
I spotted my Uncle near my mom holding on to her as if he didn't know why my Dad had to die so early.
Grey and George were lost in their thoughts and I felt their sadness right from where they stood.
“How do I become a big sister to two growing men?” I asked myself and I sniffed so hard that I let out a cry.
My Aunt ran towards me but I knew she wasn't one to be emphatic since she knew what her husband did. I ran away, not sure where I was going.
My mom just stared at me but didn't move an inch. If anything, she had always been the strong one, but this time I knew she was on the edge of breaking down. She hasn't cried since they announced my father's death.
She just had a pale look and she almost stopped talking.
While I ran, I noticed some men right behind me. “ Who wants to come after a girl? Mourning her father, I thought?”
“Hey Tee,” one of them called out and I stopped walking.
I turned around to face them but I couldn't recognize any of them. They also had come for the funeral.
While I was prepared to say the normal thanks to a condolence speech, they gave me the biggest news ever.
“ I will make this quick,” the other man said.
“ Your Father owes us a huge amount of money and we will be back in two months to collect all that we can give. Until it is fully paid, we will always come back!” he concluded.
I didn't know how to react, but I knew I had fainted, and a few days later, I woke up in the hospital bed.
My mom sat right there with me, her eyes swollen and red.
“ Mom …” I called out unsure of what to say.
“ We are selling the house,” she replied, caressing my hand.
My head banged at the realization. It was the debt that made her make such a decision.
“ Maybe those men have reached out to her too,” I thought.
I nodded to reply and went back to sleep.
Tracy's Mom POV
Lost and confused will be an understatement of how I feel right now. As I stared at Tee, I sadly wished the next decision I was going to make for us to live well would not strip her of her future.
I walked to the corridor to meet Grey and George but they were not happy to see me.
“ Mom, you know Tee wants to go to college, why would you sell her off?” George queried, looking pissed.
“ I'm not selling her; it is our only means of getting our lives back,”I said dejectedly.
“ Ohh! I never knew being married at 20 is freedom” Grey interjected, rolling his eyes at me.
“ Just stop! I screamed” and they both walked away to Tracia’s ward.
Tiara's POV
I woke up to loud murmurs. It was a heated argument between the boys and mom.
“ hey… stop,” I said, dragging the words out of my heavy mouth.
“ The married woman is awake," Grey responded, making me look puzzled.
My mom paced around buying her lips and putting her hand through her hair.
“ What is that about?" I asked, knowing that Grey doesn't sugarcoat anything.
“ You are getting married this weekend to the heir of INDIGO” George finally cleared the air.
“ Look, Mom signed a contract in exchange for getting Dad’s debt paid,” Grey informed.
My mind went blank and I blinked too hard. The word Thornley around me once again but my system knew it wasn't a good time to faint.
“ Mom, I called out, wanting her to tell me it was a lie, but her tears confirmed it.
“ I got the news that he wanted a wife so quickly and he was willing to pay,” she explained.
I couldn't find the right words. My heart tightened and I felt so betrayed.
“ Even If this was going to be our solution, not the heir to INDIGO’S COMPANY, I lamented.
“ Just what I was against,” Grey said flatly, dropping onto the couch loudly.
It made me realize that we could not even afford anything but I am laying down a very posh ward with a couch and everything fancy.
“ Just last week, news of him f*****g the interview was out everywhere. He put his d**k in every hole,” Grey let out angrily, strangely looking at our mom.
“Guys, I had no choice…” my mom said while crying.
“I made sure he will not lay his hands on you and will stay clear of such rumors,” she continued, and George scoffed at her words.
I laid back in the bed and turned to the other side, not wanting to face her.
“She was my mother and she would not want anything to harm me” I reassured myself
In that space, I vowed to become the solution to our problems, even if it would cost me.
Thirty minutes later, our Dad's lawyer came in with my uncle and aunt.
“If the world could be any more cruel”, I whispered as they came in.
“ Who stays after killing his brother to hear his will?”
“ Mrs Breda” the lawyer greeted my mom and nodded at me and my brother.
Something about him was so unsettling but I waived it off.
“ I, Mr Davidson Smith, leave behind the new mine I bought to John Smith” Mr Wilson read out from the will.
“Uncle John ??? …. I was utterly confused.
My uncle did as if he wasn't expecting it either and he stared at everyone while Mr Wilson left us.
Thereafter, he smiled and I could not tell what look my Aunt had.
My mom looked dismayed and she turned to look at my Uncle devastatingly.
“Why is Father’s will not shared among us, why is it given to Uncle John? “I busted out pissed.
“Well, that's because the will says so, and I did my findings about wills, and I got it legally if the deceased made his decision according to the Wills Act, which my lovely brother did, it must be respected”, my uncle informed us with joy all over his face.
I looked at my brothers, who were already angry and wanted to punch the hell out of him, but my mom stood in front.
“ John, you have done enough, just leave us and go!” my mom voiced out finally, tears already in her eyes.
“Sure,” he said excitedly and left but turned around to say, “ Some men in black are outside the hospital waiting to see you both” he continued pointing at us.
