chapter 2

Tala’s pov

I walked around the ring in a circle awaiting my opponent getting my legs used to holding me up. Thankfully it only took two laps, I think Alpha Slade knew I would need to do this before a match which is probably why he always brought me over earlier then the rest. Giving me a few moments to gather my bearings. Loud noises rose in the halls up behind the stands indicating that the other packs that participated in these illegal fights were here and they seemed to be happy. Alpha Slade looked down at me and yelled to be ready and that I better win this match because if I lost then I would lose my life.

After everyone was in their seats the door opposite from me began to open letting my opponent walk out into the ring. A soft but mean growl rose from my chest at the wolf form coming through the door. Once he was all the way inside they shut the door locking it in place so we couldn’t get out. We started circling each other but keeping a safe distance. I figured out the hard way that we could only commence an attack after the whistle goes off but before then we were not allowed to attack each other. It gives us time to pump ourselves up for the fight that is about to begin, but it's mainly because they are placing bets on who will win by our size and muscle mass.

I happened to look up at the stands looking around watching them all go crazy trying to place bets. I had noticed that there were a few new people here tonight that I haven’t seen before. One man stood out in particular, He had dark black hair and bright blue eyes, he was wearing an all black outfit as if he was trying to be invisible to everyone around him. He was up in the back row and the other new faces were sitting with him, what made him stand out to me was the look of disgust written all over his face as he was staring down into the ring and he didn't have the aura of an Alpha like the rest of them did so maybe he is here with someone.

Without warning the whistle blew pulling me back into the ring, the other wolf had jumped at me snapping his jaws. I side stepped him, making him hit the wall that was behind me. He stood up and shook out his fur then growled at me as he slowly advanced to where I am. Every step he made forward I took one backwards, I looked up at my Alpha and saw he was glaring at me. He raised his hand in the air and commanded me to kill. Not wanting to face the consequence of disobeying I got into position to start attacking back. I jumped at the other wolf snarling as we rolled around snapping at each other trying to get the upper hand before the other could. With great effort I got him off of me and bit into his back leg, he yelped loudly but tried to recover from the bite. We were back to snapping at each other jumping around trying to get ahold of one another's throats. I threw his wolf a few feet from me and advanced quickly at him snapping at the back of his neck. After I got a good hold I started to shake my head violently trying to bite off some flesh. He was able to bite my front leg making me let go of him and stumble back. He was laying there panting and whimpering, I got back up on my feet and looked down at him. He had submitted to me, making everyone gasp out and in anger yelling about how the fight isn't finished. They started yelling at the other wolf to get up and continue but I could tell just by the way he was laying there that he wasn’t able to move, the injury that I caused on the back of his neck was bleeding out badly and he just layed there. As I spaced out watching him struggling a bit to breathe as his chest rose and fell at a rapid speed, I was brought out of my spacing because the collar jolted me making me howl out in pain making me move around in circles trying to bat at my neck with my paw. The pain started to go away when they packs started quarreling again talking about how it is done when they both live only in death is the fight over with. Everyone quieted down when Alpha Slade hollered my name.

“Tala!!” he yelled in anger. “Finish him now!”

I shook my head no which I regretted because he zapped me again. I looked over at the other wolf with a look of pity showing in my eyes, the other wolf whimpered some more then tried to move away from me when I started to advance towards him only to be a little bit too late as I dug my teeth into his throat ripping it out. I sat down next to him and howled out my sorrow.

Hearing the door starting to open I jumped pack a little bit and looked up at the crowd. The guy I noticed earlier had an apologetic look on his face as he stared at me. Alpha Slade walked into the ring and kicked me hard making me fall over and whimper. He slammed my cage down and then pointed at it, knowing what he wanted I lowered my head and scampered into the cage.

He locked my cage door and waved to his men to come and carry me back to the vehicle. As they were carrying me outside I was looking around while keeping my head low and I saw the man from earlier hiding behind a car that was a bit back behind ours. I watched him as he watched me being thrown without a care into the trunk of Alpha Slade’s vehicle.
