Chapter 3

700 Words
~ Sadie ~                 “What a chauvinistic bas*ard” I mumbled under my breath as I stormed out of work, I didn’t just hate Cal, I despised him. “I can not believe that he had the audacity to actually wink at me, and his stupid smug smile, UGH” I opened the rear door of my 1998 Sunfire, it was cherry red and although ugly it got the job done. And put my stuff into the backseat, just then I glanced up and seen my brother Jaxson standing on the passenger side of my car staring at me, he had this grin on his face and I instantly knew that he heard all of my grumblings only seconds ago.   “What are you scaring at Jax!?” my hand now on my hips. Jaxton’s smile got bigger as he laughed, “Met the new guy yet sis?” I can not believe this is humorous to him, “UGH, your just as idiotic as he is.” I hoped into my car and turned the key 'my car sounds like its dying!' I pulled out of the driveway and headed home. Once home, I made supper, got into my jammies and curled up on the couch with my cat, Tibbles. Tomorrow would be another day, I wasn’t going to let some guy ruin my life, I love my job, and this was not going to change due to one new employee. After my movie was over I went upstairs and crawled into my bed, determined to get a good night sleep and be ready to face the day ahead of me, I was going to be ready to prove that I would be a great business partner. “thank gawd tomorrow is Friday”.   It was a sleepless night, All the stories that your Gran had told you years ago haunting you, making you toss and turn. Stories about werewolf mates and unknown places... Thinking about Cal and his smug smile… the feeling that I got whenever we made eye contact... Thinking about… his husky voice... UGH.   I awoke with a start as my alarm was going off, it felt like I had slept for fifteen minutes total. ‘Is Cal my mate?’ I shook it off. ‘No way, those are all just urban legends. Who do you know that has ever actually met their ‘mate’?’, no one!’ and you didn’t. Not once in your life had you actually met someone that had met their foretold ‘other half’ You needed to shower, shave, get dressed and brush your teeth and you were already running late.   With fifteen minutes to spare I rushed out the door and hopped into my car. 'I better get going if I want to grab a coffee!' I put the car in drive and pulled away from my house. Six and a half minutes later I was pulling into the drive-thru to grab my coffee. I ordered my usual regular coffee and proceeded to the window. "good morning, the gentlemen in front of you paid for your coffee this morning, have a good day!" as the lady handed me my coffee. I looked up and seen Cal driving out of the parking lot heading towards work. 'I am not a damn charity case, what is he trying to prove' I took the coffee, paid for the person behind me, and headed the remaining three blocks to work. I sighed. 'I have a feeling it is going to be a long day!'  But I never would have predicted what the day was going to completely consist of, no one could. I made it to work and clocked in at 7:59am, 'whew! just on time' I turned around and came face to face with Josh, standing beside him... Cal Robinson. 'UGH, why is he in the office?' The words that came out of Josh's mouth next were some that I never would have been able to prepare myself for. "Sadie, today I would like you to accompany Cal in the truck. Take him and introduce him to all the other drivers, employees and our largest customers. I expect you back here by noon to discuss your wedding arrangements and future plans of this merger" My jaw fell open, I could not control the emotion that clearly showed on my face. 'MY WEDDING PLANS?? WTF was going on?' I turned around and walked out the door. This day could not get any worse. "Holy sh*t"
