Gabby’s pov.
We’ve been walking all day, I’ve tried to carry the girls as much as possible but they are getting heavier and heavier as the day goes on. We need to stop for at least a few hours to rest. I find a tree that is hollow, the space is just big enough for the girls to hide in.
Meg: “Gabby we’re cold can we have a fire please?”
“Sorry baby girl we can’t we’re still to close to the pack, someone would see the smoke. I’m going to find us some more food, I won’t be far.”
Oh how I wish we could have a fire and be able to cook a rabbit or something instead of eating berries and anything else I can forage for.
I’m so glad mum taught me how to forage. Alpha Trent didn’t let us have a lot of food, so we had to forage for more. If I didn’t know what is safe to eat we would have had to take the risk of either getting sick or dying from starvation. The biggest problem we’ve got is thirst, we’ve not found a river or stream yet and even when we do we haven’t got anything to put water in to take with us. I gather everything I can eating some as I go and filling the bag as much as possible. Not going to far from where the girls are hiding and making sure I can see the tree the whole time. I found two pieces of bark that can be used as plates.
“Girls eat this then we’ll get some sleep. I’m sorry I didn’t find any water but I’m sure we’ll find some tomorrow.”
I try to get as comfortable as possible sitting against the edge of the hole in the tree to try and get some sa
The sun coming up wakes me up from my very restless sleep, the slightest noise woke me up throughout the night. I wake up the girls and give them some of the food from the bag and eat some myself. Then we start walking again.
As it starts to get towards lunchtime we eat as we go. I don’t feel safe stopping in the daytime without anywhere to hide.
After another hour or so I can hear running water, we make our way towards it. It’s a small stream.
“Girls don’t drink to fast because you’ll get a belly ache, splash your faces first.”
They nod we all bend down, wash our faces and hands then drink. Oh god water has never tasted so good, it’s cold and very refreshing. I pick the girls up deciding to walk up stream in the water. Because if we’re being followed it will hopefully confuse them as our tracks will have disappeared.
The only problem with walking in the water is that what was at some point shoes, are now falling apart with a little shake of eachfoot they fall off and float down stream. I try to walk a bit further but some of the stones are sharp and are cutting my feet. I get out of the stream onto a grassy bank, we all have another drink then start walking again. It’s starting to get dark so I look for somewhere to hide for the night and gather some food at the same time. I’m about to give up looking when I see a cave. Oh moongoddess I hope this isn’t a wild animals home. It’s to dark to see how far back it goes. We eat some food saving some for the morning. I sit with my back against the wall with the girls heads in my lap.
Again I woke up at the slightest noise but I feel like I got more sleep last night, May managed to heal my feet, it must’ve taken a lot for her to do it as I can’t feel her like I did yesterday. Due the Alpha order I can hardly feel her anyway and we can’t talk to each other. But at the moment it’s like I don’t have a wolf at all.
On the third day I decide we are far enough away from the pack to have a fire to warm us up. I gather some wood, using a couple of rocks I manage to get the fire started. I fall asleep next to the girls. Shouting wakes me up.
Unknown: “WHO ARE YOU? WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?”
I jump up standing in front of the girls. I can scent that they are wolves. I bow my head down in respect.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t realise we had wondered into your territory. Please don’t hurt my sister’s it wasn’t their fault I take full responsibility.”
Their eyes go smoky indicating they’re mind linking.
Unknown: “Don’t worry we’re not going to hurt you, come with us and we’ll take you to the pack hospital. Once you’ve been checked by the doctor, had something to eat and some sleep you can tell us what happened.”
The fire is put out each of the girls are picked up by a warrior and we are taken into the pack. On the way to the hospital May starts to wake up, I smell a delicious sweet scent it’s apple pie and custard (I know the smell from working in the kitchen). May is fully awake clawing and pacing around inside my mind saying mate over and over again. A couple of guys are walking towards us. Wow they are gorgeous but I can feel the Alpha order starting to kick in.
Jake: “MATE.”
“What’s your name?”
Jake: “Hi I’m Jake. What’s your name?”
“I’m so sorry. I Gabby reject you Jake as my mate.”
Everyone gasps in shock as the pain rips through my heart and everything goes black.
