Chapter fifty: Heroes of Moon

1178 Words
Inside the Artemis' tower was an altar. The floor was sculpted with an image of a half-crescent moon while being surrounded with an unreadable scripture, all made elegant by the smoothly-polished marble floor. The place was bright and shining—like a moon—as the walls are where bright, differently-colored crystals are creeping and displaying its beauty. At the center, is where a small table was located. It was made of marble through which in the center was a sculpture of a moon, but this time, a full and rounded one. At four sides of the table is where golden-colored candle was lit, its fire was waving from an unsteady air. Now in the middle of the well-sculpted round moon, a silver hunting knife was placed. It has a white and pure handle, intricately designed with vines, leaves, and beasts being hunted by arrows and knives. The blade was a shiny silver material. The blade was not molded in an ordinary and usual look of a hunting knife. This knife was in figure of waves. Each side of it was sharpen, and it was carved in a smooth wave form. It was beautiful. At least for Alina. She stepped to the middle, where the table and the beautiful knife was placed. She was mesmerized as she look at the beauty of it. Her eyes is sparkling as her hands was about to grab and examine it. “Alina,” called Silver. “Do not be fooled by it.” “I—I am not. I just want to check it.” There were no other things inside the wall except of the table and the knife. Silver assumed that this place was just a normal place; a sanctuary where they can be safe until the sun would stop its blazing to the surface of the moon. But he saw how tall this tower is. He saw how even in its slim, elegant structure, it was as if a tower that when placed in earth (the real earth) would be able to touch the heaven. Inside was different. The ceiling was low. They have only a meter away to be able to touch it. The place seems cramped and small for the four of them, but still managed. Now Silver hasn't noticed, but Alina was already touching the knife. She was still fascinated by its beauty. The intricate carvings, the waving blades, the silvery white glow it gives off as an aura. Until they all captured how the rounded carving of the moon suddenly radiates blinding white light. They have all squinted and covered their eyes, for the immense light had made them nauseated. When finally adjusting through it, Silver was the first one to open back his eyes. The radiating light was now not as bright as the first time it appeared right before their eyes. Perhaps because he had adjusted. But what bothers him right now is the scripture that was floating in the middle of the radiating light, by which coming from the carved full moon on the table. It was similar of the scriptures he saw at the gate of this tower, and of the scripture in the surrounding of the table. But the problem is, he cannot read it, nor be able to decipher it. But Alina could. Earlier, Alina has attempted multiple times to read the scriptures of the gate by the use of her Sabertooth's wisdom. But no matter how many times she tried, the Sabertooth won't respond. Now as she looked at the floating letters written in golden glitters, the Sabertooth has responded through it, and made an instant translation that she would not expect. “An inscription was floating along the light,” Yohanna told, her voice is wondering. “If only we could read it.” Silver was exhausted through all of this. He was interested with some specific things, but most of the time, he would just slack and sleep instead of studying and feeding his hungry curiosity. Studying was his opponent when he was still outside of the game. “I can read it,” Finally, Alina said. All of them looked through her with an anticipating look. “I thought you can't?” asked Silver. “Now, I can,” Alina rebutted. “Earlier, the Sabertooth won't respond for a translation. But now it automatically translated it.” “Wow,” Yohanna exclaimed. “I wish I could have that same item so that I would feel genius even for a short time.” Alina chuckled. “I will let you borrow it. But for now, hear what the written symbol means.” She then reread the whole floating scriptures to ensure the correctness of what she would be saying. Then, she dictated: “She who have sinned to the sun, is she who should be bounded eternally in the dungeon. She who have sinned, is she who should suffer. But heroes will rise, to break the chain of her bounds. But heroes will rise with the uncertainty of time. Thousands of years would come, millions of days would shred. Until the warriors would stand, brave, strong and wit. Until she who have sinned would break the bound.” As soon as Alina finished telling the translation, no one of them had spoken anything. Their deep silence made the whole place to be invaded by the silence itself. “Is the scripture telling us, we’re the heroes who would save the bounded Artemis?” asked Yohanna. For a minute, no one talked. But Silver gathered his thoughts and answered, “I am not sure, Yohanna. This is a game. But I hope I know it too.” Alina then stepped, and returned near the table where the light was coming from. She was hesitant. She was not sure about what she would be doing. Yet, she disregarded every hesitations inside her head, then held the blade of the knife. Her palm tingled in pain as the blade buried and wounded her. Then, she pulled the knife while her fist was still enclosed. Blood gushed out of her hand. The wound she had created to herself was deep and tingling in pain. “Alina! What are you doing?” Silver was a bit of panicking as he saw what Alina had done to herself. But curiosity creeped through him as he saw how Alina placed her hand in the middle of the carved moon, where the bright silvery-white light was gushing out. Then the golden scriptures turned red—like the color of her blood. The white light was tainted with her blood as well. Until it moved, bended, gathered and concentrated at a certain place, until another portal was revealed. A portal for them to move and to finally reach the place where they could went back to the natural course of the game. Little did they know, the goddess of the moon was watching them. As she stare at the moon orb she was holding, a smile peered over her lips.
