Alsie POV- My jaw dropped, my hands got a little clam-y. I looked over at Osiris, and he was leaning forward in his chair intently looking at Alpha Kordell. My eyes quickly darted to where Andrew was sitting. He was standing up looking at Beta Jacob, ready to pounce. Evander placed his hands on my shoulders and squeezed them lightly. I instantly relaxed at his touch. Andrew pointed at Beta Jacob, “You out NOW!” he growled aggressively. Alpha Kordell turned his head toward Beta Jacob and nodded slightly. “You will all regret this, you are going against years, no centuries, of tradition and customs. This will not end well!” Beta Jacob shouted as he stormed out of the office and slammed the door. I was shaking all over. I had no idea what was going on. I had so many questions. I wanted answers, but I also wanted everyone to be calm. I didn’t want to be the cause of chaos and disruption. Evander squeezed my shoulders a little tighter, “You’re OK. Sweetness. Everything is going to be OK,” he reassured me. Andrew locked the office door, turned around and walked straight to me. “You’re fine, Little Luna. We’re all fine, there is nothing to worry about.” He picked me up out of my chair and carried me over to the couch. Both Evander and Osiris followed us to the couch. Andrew sat me down gently, then he sat next to me, our thighs touching. He put his arm around my shoulders, and I cuddled into his side. Evander and Osiris sat on either side of us. My attention was drawn to Alpha Kordell, and I could see a small smile forming at the corners of his mouth. He approved of this, of us as mates, and that made my heart happy. “Let’s get started.” “Wait, Alpha,” I said, as I moved away from Andrew and sat up on the edge of the couch. "We came here for another reason entirely. Apparently, it wasn’t Brook who was murdered, but her cousin Bethany. Osiris ID'd the victim via a photo sent to me by my partner, Sarah Johns, and he gave his full name for the report. I told Sarah not to mention him and to use him as a Confidential Informant only, but Si didn’t listen to my protest.” “Bethany wasn’t a pack member, and her family never resided here on our lands. Osiris was right, using his name won’t bring any undue attention our way. Has anyone reached out to Brook?” asked Alpha Kordell, concerned. “Not that I’m aware of. I haven’t and Sarah didn’t mention it. It is my day off and if there have been any small updates in the case, I won’t be privy to that information until I go back to work in two days, or until it makes its way into the case file. That could take a few days. We all hate doing paperwork and updating case files.” Alpha Kordell sighed, a heavy sigh, and then proceeded to tell me, “You can’t go back to work until after your 25th birthday.” “WHAT?” I hollered. “I’m sorry Alsie, but it’s true. It is my first priority to protect you until your 25th birthday. I can’t let you go off four hours away for work for the next 18 days.” “That’s not fair Alpha and you know it.” “You’re right, it’s not. But that’s what must be done. It is the only way to guarantee that no harm will come to you.” “Harm from who and why would someone want to harm me?” “I guess there is no time like the present to get this all out in the open. Here it goes. Your father was exactly who you were told he was. He was found on our lands as a pup, taken in by my family, grew up with me, was my beta until he died in battle when you were 11 years old.” “OK, Alpha. I know all that. What don’t I know?” I asked timidly. “The story of your mother, Ariel, is what you don’t know. Because you don’t know her story, you don’t really know yours. Your mother was not a human. She was a wolf. She was from a line of Egyptian wolves that go all the way back to King Sekhemkhet and Nut. Your mother was the 99th generation of Nut descendants. You, Alsie, are the 100th generation. You have a wolf. Her name is Rana. I met her years ago. You could shift at will by the time you were a toddler. There was some confusion over which generation your mother was. Due to this confusion, your mother was bound. We all knew that the 100th generation would be powerful. When it was realized who you really were, your parents had you bound. As you know, by binding you, you could never garner your full abilities or power. Things were going along OK. Then you turned 7 years old. The binding spell wore off. We did some exercises to help you control when you shifted, but you liked shifting, so you didn’t follow any type of rules.” I laughed at that. “That seems about right.” I said. “Please continue Alpha.” “It was at this time the Luna and I noticed a bond forming between you and the boys. You four were inseparable. You ate together, played together, trained together, napped together, did everything together. When we separated, the four of you and your parents would go back to their cottage. It was hell. Your father and I made the decision to have him, your mom, and you move into the packhouse, in the East wing. After a few months, you started to home in on some of your abilities and your powers were surfacing. I wanted you to be able to explore that and learn all you could. However, you are not my daughter, and I was overruled by your mother. She had a witch from the past come back and perform another binding spell on you. The only way I’d allow that is if the witch promised to make the spell temporary, and it would dissipate by your 25th birthday.” “So, how do you know we’re mates, Alpha?” I asked, pointing to the triplets and me. “We know your mates because you told us when you were 7 years old. Luna Jazmine and I were out in the pool area with the boys. Your mother, father, and you came to join us. Osiris got injured on the diving board. You went to him and started tending to his knee. He still has the scar to this day on his right knee. When I came over to see if he was OK, you growled at me and said “mate”. Since they are triplets and will only have one mate between the three of them, you let us know exactly who that was. Two days later you were bound for the second time in your life. When the boys didn’t find their mate on their 18th birthday, or any time after that. We knew it was you. I think all of you know it too. You were just waiting for the sparks to happen.” “This is a lot to take in,” I said as I sat on the couch in utter shock and disbelief. “This doesn’t explain why I can’t go back to work until after my birthday.” “No, Alsie, it doesn’t. Let’s save that for tomorrow. Shall we?” “Yes, Alpha. That sounds like a plan. I’m going to go home. You three coming or staying?” The triplets got up and walked with me to the door. Andrew unlocked it and said, “I’m going wherever you go, Little Luna.” “Me too, Sweetness.” echoed Evander. “No way am I getting left behind,” chimed Osiris. “Alright then. Let’s go. We got pizza to eat.” And with that we left the office. I turned back to Alpha Kordell and there was no denying the smile on his face. “See you four tomorrow. Good night.”
