Loredana's POV The next morning after training we were told that a Ball would be the following night. I had nothing to wear to one. Nor did I have the money to purchase one. "We get to go shopping!" Jewel squeaked with glee. She hooked her arm in mine as we exited our little breakfast area. I had opened the door to find Logan leaning against the wall facing my door. I found out that Mike had stayed up all night watching my door. So I hadn't needed to shove the chair and table up to the door. "Do you need a dress?" Jewel asked as she towed me down an aisle. "No I cannot afford one," I mumbled quietly. Jewel paused moved her head to the side and then said, " pick one on me." She grinned. I could not tell her no. she had one of the workers shove me in a dressing room while all sorts of dresses were sent to me to try on while Mortou and Logan judged both of ours. Jewel settled on an a-line gown in light violet color. Mortou and Logn agreed it was perfect. I went through like ten more before they agreed on a salmon-colored one that was also an a-line princess cut style similar to Jewel's but showed just a little more at my chest. Then we found matching shoes and clutches. Stopping for accessories. I called in a favor to have a friend who does makeup and hair for us. Athens would be doing Maya's and Amber's. I was a bit surprised about that. We stopped for lunch where both Mortou and Logan chatted about their lives and opened up a little about things. I was shocked at how normal werebears could be like the rest of us. After lunch Jewel and I got to walk the massive garden in the back of the house off the main patio. As we walked we chatted about our lives and ages. I was surprised to learn that she was just barely 16 and have had her wolf since she was six years old. She told me how Joe and Maya met and what had transpired as they were getting to know each other. I was so surprised about their story. "Afternoon lovely ladies," purred the young Alpha as he turned the corner to see us. "Go away, Jeremy" Snapped Jewel sidestepping in front of him and me. "Little Bird, you can't tell me what to do," he chuckled. Trying to move Jewel aside with his hand. She grabbed his hand using a wrist lock on him and launched him into the nearest rose bush. "I am not a bird!" Jewel growled, "I am heir to all the Southern Wolf packs!" Her snarl held an Alpha command. I watched with surprise as he bent his neck in submission. "Know your place," she spat grabbing my arm as we walked past him still in the bush. "Ah, Princess Jewel, Braun and I were looking for you. Some documents need your attention." Pinky smiled as she glanced at the young Alpha Jeremy pulling himself out of the bush. "Any issues?" She looked back directly at me her pink ringed eyes assessing me quietly. "A little of that stupid needed to know its place," Jewel snorted eyeing Jeremy's departing back. "Well let's go in and look at those papers then get ready for dinner in about an hour," Pinky stepped in between us looping her arms in both of ours to drag up to the patio where Elder Braun and Mike stood waiting. "Loredana," Elder Braun nodded to me as he extended his hand in greeting. They had left separately to visit a special spot, as that was all I was told. "Lory please," I shook his hand offering my shorter name. "Lory, if you will excuse the three of us, Mike will be with you this evening. We have some Southern Wolf pack business to handle." They smiled at me, leaving the table off to the side. I looked at the garden below the patio. I felt Mike step closer, " would you like to continue your walk in the garden.?" He offered quietly. "I think, I will get back to my room." I glanced up to offer a small smile. He held out his arm offering it, as we walked back into the house to hear, "why are you covered in rosebush thorns!" Luna Marie exclaimed. "I tripped," he muttered. I couldn't stop the giggle that came out, as we passed. Jeremy growled and snapped my way when we went past. Mike spun me out of the way as he stepped in front of me, getting in his face to bare his teeth, his canines dropping as a deep rumble built in his chest. "stay in your lane," Mike lashed out. Mike grabbed my wrist and pulled me forward away from him toward the stairs. Keeping himself between Jeremy and me. I waited until we were halfway up the stairs before I giggled again to say, "that is the second time he has been told that in an hour." Mike grabbed my wrist again stopping our ascent. "When was this?" His eyes angry, making me stiffen in fright. "In.. in.. the garden," I stuttered at his anger. He paused his eyebrows going up, his eyes closed second, taking a deep breath as he released my wrist. He opened them, his face softer, "who told him that?" His voice was not as harsh. "Jewel gave him an Alpha command after she tossed him in the rose bush," a grin forming on my lips. He stalled a moment before he let out a soft chuckle. I paused it was the cutest thing ever. Making my chest tingle with an unknown emotion. He turned then, waiting for me to follow. A slight lift in the corners of his lips as his eyes danced, with merriment. He looked so handsome it made my breath catch, and my heart dance. I started up the stairs with a soft smile as we walked quietly back to the room.
