Chapter 36 Kate“I’m right here,” she whispered to Louise whilst stroking her hair. “I’m right here.” Kate’s heart hurt as she held Louise in her arms. A part of her wished she hadn’t sent Philip home to get Louise’s knitting bag, but she thought it would be a good idea. When she’d gone to check on Louise before, her hands were moving as if she was knitting. It had been a week since Louise had moved into the Memory Care unit at the village. It had happened over dinner one night. Louise had gotten a bit of food stuck in her esophagus, which caused a persistent cough and trouble breathing. Louise had required surgery, followed by a stay in hospital. After that, it was decided that due to the high risk of dysphagia, Louise should be moved into the Memory Care unit in the retirement village
