Her Mate, His Luna

Chapter 17

*Aliane POV*

    I have been at the barbeque for about thirty minutes now, and I haven't even met a quarter of the pack yet. Iván has been hogging me to himself. The point of the barbeque was to form a relationship with the people in our pack. 

    I get frustrated after another three minutes and try once again to wiggle out of Iván's grip. He doesn't let me go, so I resort to the next best thing. I lean into his ear and whisper the cruelest thing you can say on your 'wedding' night.

"If you do not let me go so I can socialize, you will be sleeping in a different room for the rest of the week."

    I pull back from his ear and look him in the eyes as they widen in horror. 

"You wouldn't, Mariposa." 

"I would, Iván now, you have thirty seconds to let me go." 

    He searches into my eyes, trying to if I'm serious. After a few seconds, he sighs and lets me go. I kiss his cheek, then get up and walk away. Izzy and Antonio had been seated right next to us, along with my parents and brother, and they heard every word. They were now stifling their laughter. I think I may even have heard Antoiono saying that Iván was whipped. 

    I began walking around and introducing myself to the pack members. I made a new friend. She is a pup, and her name is Lucy. She has raven black hair and bright blue eyes. She has honey skin and is a runt. She is so full of energy, and we have a playdate on Monday. She is the head warrior's daughter. I can already tell she is gonna be a fireball when she is older. 

    I spent about three hours talking to various pack members, and now I am sitting in Iván's lap in a yard chair next to the fire. Some of the other mated couples are doing the same. All of the pups had been put to sleep a little while ago so the adults could get some peace and hang out—all pups except for Alexandro and Alberto, of course. Alexandro had fallen in love with my parents and was sleeping in my mothers' arms while she was sitting in my dad's lap, and Alberto was sleeping in my lap. Izzy was sleeping in her mate's lap as well. She may only be a few weeks into her pregnancy, but it takes a lot of energy to carry one wolf baby, let alone three at once. Glacier excused himself and grabbed his mate, and started to head towards the packhouse. Just as I started to close my eyes, I must have started to drift off because when I opened my eyes again, someone was trying to take my nephew out of my arms. I let out a loud growl and looked up at the person trying to take the pup from me. 

    I locked eyes with Glacier and growled again. He, my parents, and what was left of the pack were stepping back from me wide-eyed. I felt a hand come to my face to turn it around. I came eye to eye with my mate and calmed instantly, and let go of my death grip from Alberto.

"Mariposa, it's okay; Antonio was trying to take Alberto to bed so I could take you. You and Alberto are safe."

I looked back at Glacier, my face full of guilt.

"I...I'm sorry, Antonio. I didn't mean to." I said, looking at the ground.

"It's alright, Aliane. I'm not upset, so wipe that guilt off of your face and look at me instead of the ground."

    I did as he said, and he had a nervous smile on his face. He tried to step forward a little bit, but this bubble looking thing kept him away.

"Whats this bubble thing, and why is it here, I ask." I was looking around, and it looked like this bubble was surrounding Alberto, Iván, and me. 

"Mariposa, I think you did this."

I turn my head to look at Iván with confusion. 

"What do you mean? I didn't do this." 

"I think Iván is right, Aliane. When I tried to pick up Alberto, you growled, and then I was thrown back by this bubble." Antonio said. 

"Um... if this is true, how do I take it down?"

"I'm not sure, Mariposa. Maybe it like shifting. Could you close your eyes and imagine it coming down."

    I shut my eyes and imagined the bubble popping like regular ones do when you touch them. Then I opened my eyes to see that nothing had happened. 

"It didn't come down."

"Try to use your instincts then," Iván whispered because Alberto started to stir in my lap.

    I closed my eyes again and followed what my gut was telling me. I started to tuff at the barrier and sucked it into me. I kept doing this until the barrier was gone. I opened my eyes to see if the barrier was there, and it wasn't. I managed to take it down. 

    Taking down the barrier drained me of all of my energy, and just as quickly as I opened my eyes, I closed them. Falling into a dreamless sleep. 

*Iván* 

Aliane managed to get the barrier down but blackout as soon as it was down. Alberto started to fall out of her limb hold, and Antonio ran to him and scooped him up into his arms. I grabbed Aliane bridal style and stood up. I turned my gaze to my pack.

"Go home and rest and never tell anyone what you saw here. Beta Antonio, grab your children and up to them to bed and then come to my office; you have ten minutes. Blake, Ivy, Alpha Kyne, and Luna Reva meet me in my office in ten minutes as well. Everyone is dismissed." I commanded in my Alpha tone.

    Chores of 'Yes Alpha' rang through the crowd, and everyone started to disperse and go home. I walked towards the pack house with my mate still in my arms. 

    When I reached our room, I put Aliane on the bed and undress her, only leaving her underwear. I brought her dirty clothes into the closet and put them in the basket, and then I went to grab one of my shirts. I walk back to the bed and put my shirt on her. Any other time I'd be hard as a rock getting to see my mate's breast and undressing her, but right now, she is unconscious, and I have no clue how she made a barrier or how long she will be asleep. After I put my shirt on her, I pull the blankets back and then over her. I tiptoe out of the room, careful not to disrupt her. 

    I head towards my office down the hall, and I can already smell everyone in there. I open the doors and walk right in and up to my desk. I walk behind it and take a seat in my chair. 

"The reason I have called you all here is that there is something your not telling me. Today could have been very dangerous. Now my Beta and I need answers."

    Blake, Ivy, Kyne all looked at each other. I could tell they were mind link, and now I was angry.

"You will not mind link in front of me. I do not care if you guys are my mate's family; I do not tolerate such disrespect." 

    They all turn their heads to be shocked that I would call them out on this. 

"Of course, dear, we are sorry. It's just not even Aliane knows this it's a secret for a reason." Ivy said

"I need you to tell me, Ivy, I will not have my mate be in danger over something she has no control over. If word gets out about her gift, she will be hunted. I... I need to keep her safe."

"We understand; Iván and I will tell you, but you have to promise you will let us tell Aliane on our own," Blake said

"Alright, we have a deal."
