Liam's POV (6)

I arrived at the gun shop and got them cleaned up. I'm browsing guns when a beautiful shiny glock catches my eye. The first thing that comes to mind is Melanie. I called the clerk over.
Me: I want to buy this one.
Clerk: That's more for small hands.
Me: I know it's for my fiancé.
Clerk: Understood. I'll ring that right up for you.
Me: Is it possible to engrave it?
Clerk: Sure. What do you want it to say?
Me: Girasole.
Clerk: Ahhh. A fellow Italiano.
Lexis: Nice choice.
I didn't even hear the door open when she came in. She looks over and gives me a hug. I know Gwen has shared the news of Melanie with her since they are so close. I saw her put a sniper rifle on the counter. Wouldn't expect her to own one of these. Hell, I don't even have one of these. She beckons for me to come closer and whispers in my ear.
Lexis: Gearing up?
Me: You know it.
Lexis: Same. I like Melanie and I want to help.
Me: Can you use this?
Lexis: Can I use this?! Let's go. They have a range in the back.
We pay for a round of blanks and head to the range. She gets it set up and selects her target. She loads the blanks in. She has 10 targets set up and is ready to go. POW! POW! POW! POW! Shot after shot until all ten targets are hit. She collects them all. Every single one is a headshot. Damn she got a aim on her. She breaks the guns down.
Lexis: Ex-military. Ballistician Sniper.
Me: Are you serious?
Lexis: Not at all. There was no advancement passed that, so I retired and opened a tattoo shop.
Me: Explains the free hand tattoos. They are flawless.
We started heading back inside to finish up with the guns. We're chatting when the clerk lets me know he has finished engraving the gun. I get a call from Gwen. I answer immediately. If she's calling, then she must have news about Melanie.
Gwen: You got a sec?
Me: If it's about Melanie, of course I do.
Gwen: Well, I haven't seen her, but I've seen Kai. He was at a coffee shop.
Me: Any clue where he went after?
Gwen: No, I lost him 'cuz of traffic.
Me: Ok, so how long is the drive?
Gwen: About an hour outside the city.
Me: OK, call me back if you find anything else out. By the way, Lexis is with me. Want to talk to her?
Gwen: Hell yeah.
I let them talk in private. I looked over the gun again. It's perfect. He places it in a nice case and slides it to me. Lexis finishes up with Gwen on the phone and hands it back to me. I pay for the gun and leave the shop. I know I said I would sit back and wait, but I can't. I pinged Gwen's location. I wrote down the coordinates.
I headed to my dad's house. I go into the garage and pull the cover off my bike. I haven't ridden it in years, but I'm feeling the need to. I do a quick tune up and rev it up. It still runs great. I cut it off and headed inside and upstairs to my old room. I changed clothes and headed back to the garage. I pulled out my phone and tracked Gwen's location again. She's moved but not too far from the last time I pinged her. I'm off. I sped off to her location. When I get off my bike she looks pissed. Lexis beat me here. She must have left from the gun shop straight over here.
Gwen: Why are you here?
Me: I wanna help.
Gwen: You can help by staying home. I have Lexis.
Me: No one does anything without me.
Lexis: Actually, you play a big role in this.
Gwen: He's gonna do something crazy. That is why we said to stay put.
Me: I'm not gonna do anything crazy.
Gwen: We'll see.
We sat in silence or atleast tried to sit in silence. They are just making out like there's no tomorrow. I feel like she's rubbing in the fact she has someone and I don't right now. Just watching the town, thinking about her and the baby. I jumped up when I spotted who looked to be Kai. Gwen basically threw Lexis off her. She held me back.
Gwen: You said you wouldn't do anything crazy.
Me: He's right there!
Lexis: I could snipe him.
Me: Yeah, let her get his ass.
Gwen: Enough! Both of you! Stick to the plan! I'll deal with you later Lexis.
Lexis: Your place or mine?
Lexis gives Gwen a playful wink. Gwen rolls her eyes but starts smiling. I grit my teeth and sit back down on my bike. I grabbed Gwen's binoculars to get a better look. He comes out of a wedding dress store with a huge garment bag. What the hell?
Gwen: Why does he have a garment bag?
Me: I'm thinking the same thing.
Gwen: You don't think he's gonna force her to marry him, do you?
Me: I'm sure it's not for Sara.
Gwen: Stay here. I'm going to follow and see where he goes.
Lexis: Not without me.
Gwen: Get in. Liam stay here.
Me: Fine.
I stay on my bike. Sulking of course that i have to stay here and do nothing. She and Lexis drive off and tail him. I stroll through my pictures again when I see Gwen's name pop up. I answer right away.
Me: What'd you find?
Gwen: He went to a motel.
Me: A what?
Gwen: A motel. I think that's where he's keeping Melanie if he has her.
Me: If he has her?! You know he does!
I hung up the phone. I call my dad but it just keeps ringing. Why is he not picking up? I started getting irritated. I hung up and called right back. After a few rings, he answers.
Dad: Liam?
Me: Dad, we found Kai!
Dad: We?
Me: Me, Lexis, and Gwen.
Dad: Didn't I say stay put?
Me: Dont worry. I'm not doing anything.
Dad: Good.
Me: I'll call you back if any more news comes up.
I hung up the phone. I waited for Gwen to call me back. My mind started racing that he'd hurt the baby or Melanie. Hell, what if she actually does want to be with him? I shook that thought from my mind immediately. She loves me. Why would she agree to marry me and so soon if she didn't? But I am rich. What if this is a ploy to get money and then put me on child support to get even more money? Stop it Liam. You completely overthinking this. She loves me. She wants a family with me. We're getting married in a few weeks. My phone starts ringing. Its Gwen. I take a deep breath before answering.
Me: What's up?
Gwen: He has her. Lexis heard her voice.
Me: Did she sound hurt?!
Gwen: I don't know. How does hurt sound?
Me: Nevermind, just hurry back.
I hung up the phone. I check my social media and see that Lilly has started a hunt for Melanie and a few people are on board to help. Gwen arrives about twenty minutes later. Lexis pulls out her phone and I see a blurry picture, but it looks like Melanie tied to a chair.
Gwen: Luckily, he doesn't know what Lexis looks like. It's the best we could get without being detected.
Me: Better than nothing.
Gwen: So we found her.
Me: Gwen, let's go after her!
Gwen: Are you crazy? Without dad, we'd go to jail or prison. Then you'll never see her.
Me: But I would know she was safe.
Gwen: Let's head home and discuss the next phase of the rescue.
Gwen drives off. I stayed there a little while longer. I started plotting ways to get her out of there on my own, but they all ended up with me, Melanie, or the baby being hurt or killed. I couldn't live with myself if that happened. Just hang in there girasole. I'll see you soon. I started the bike up and headed home.
