I have to go and meet up with my dad. I wake up and start getting ready for work. I finally have Kai's old position. It's not my dream job but it'll provide for my family and that's all that matters. I accepted because even though I'm a freelance photographer I still need to make real money with having a baby on the way. I don't want to live off my dad. I give Melanie a kiss on the forehead then head off to work. She'll have to get up soon for work too, and I didn't want to wake her. I get to work and go check in with my dad for a quick meeting.
Dad: Son!
Me: Hi dad. How's business?
Dad: Ehh. Samuel won't budge on the merger, but I'll break him.
Me: That you will.
Dad: How's Melanie?
Me: She is good. She's should be heading to work soon.
Dad: Ahhh I see. The girl didn't scare off like I thought she would.
Me: Nah. She's tough.
Dad: You gave her the trackers?
Me: Yeah. Earrings, phone, and her locket.
Dad: Good. You can never be too sure. Especially with Kai.
I head to my office. My assistant comes in with her breasts basically popping out. Like, is my dad testing me or tempting me? She leans forward so they are right in my face.
Kayla: Mr. Elec, is there anything you need?
Me: Yeah. Please button up your blouse. Be professional.
She scoffs and storms out of my office. I tap my pen on my desk. I stood up and headed to my dad's office. He's on the phone. I waited until he was done.
Dad: Yes?
Me: Is it against the law to have a male assistant?
Dad: No. Is there a problem?
Me: My assistant just had her boobs in my face dad.
He laughs but I don't. I crossed my arms and stared him down. Finally, he gives in.
Dad: I'll find you a male assistant. Just endure.
I nod my head and head back to my office. I checked my phone and nothing from Melanie. I was tempted to track her, but I decided against it. I got off work and took a nap. I woke up around wake up around six in the evening. Melanie still isn't home and no calls or texts. I waited about an hour, then I finally gave up. I searched for her location. Said she was at Lilly's. I call her phone, and it goes straight to voicemail. I call Lilly and she answers.
Me: Hey Lill, is Melanie there?
Lilly: No. I haven't seen her all day.
Me: She said that she was coming by.
Lilly: No. We had a doctor's appointment today. We had Kai house sit. Maybe he might know.
Liam: Kai?!
The mention of his name boils my blood. I don't feel anything good is about to come from this. I guarantee he did something to Melanie.
Me: Do you guys know where he is?
Lilly: No idea. He doesn't live with Leon and Monica anymore.
Me: Ok. Thanks.
Lilly: Please call me as soon as you find her.
Me: I will.
I got in the car and finally saw a text from Melanie, but not what I was expecting. She said it over. She wants Kai back. She thinks he deserves a second chance and she's staying at Lilly's. This message is a load of bullshit. I know she loves me. And Lilly hasn't seen her. I went to track her phone again, and I was unable to. So her phone is broken. Good to know. I call Gwen and my dad, telling them to meet me at the house. I know something is off here. They arrive about an hour later.
Gwen: What's wrong?
Dad: Everything OK?
Me: Melanie's missing!
Gwen: What?!
Me: I got this from her phone and I know it's not her.
I pulled out my phone and showed them the message. They both look at it the same way I do. They know something is off as well.
Gwen: That's not Melanie. I talked to her that night at the restaurant, and she said she wanted to be rid of him. She's f*****g nuts about you.
Me: You don't think h--
Gwen: Kidnapped her? Yes I do.
Me: I'LL f*****g KILL HIM!
Dad: Relax. We have to plan this. We can't go guns blazing.
Me: DAD, MY FIANCÉ IS IN DANGER!
Dad: I know, but like I said, we have to plan this.
Gwen: Dad's right. Liam just calm down. We'll get her back.
I slammed my fist on the countertop. Gwen pulls out her laptop. She a hacker. She turns it to me. She shows that she was at Lilly's, drove outside of town, then drove back to Lilly's, and the phone tracking disappears.
Me: Lilly's house.
Gwen takes the computer and starts typing again. She turns it back to me. The second location pops up with her earrings showing up in a lake.
Gwen: X:45, Y:69.6
Me: That's the park where we killed Niko and Damien.
Gwen types away one last time and this time tracks the locket. I pray she still has it on or else I'm up s**t creek. I'll have no clue where her or the baby are. Gwen shows me the coordinates one last time.
Me: X:137.8, Y:108.4. Ok, so she's outside of town.
Gwen: Liam, promise me you'll wait.
Me: I don't think I can.
Dad: Liam! Do what we're telling you.
Me: You have the person you love kidnapped and see if you'll sit around.
Dad: You forget Gwen was kidnapped, and I waited until the moment was right.
I grab a bottle of bourbon and take a shot. I keep taking them until my dad stops me. I sigh and nod my head. We spent the night planning Melanie's rescue.
When I wake up, Gwen is packing up. She and dad stayed the night. Dad is still asleep. I walk into the kitchen and make myself a cup of coffee.
Me: Where are you off to?
Gwen: I'm going to scope out her location. See exactly where she is.
Me: Ok. I'll come too.
Gwen: NO! Stay put. I will call you if I find anything out.
Me: Liam, please trust us on this. We'll find her.
She heads out. I watch as she drives away. I flip through my phone looking at pictures of me and her. I miss her. I don't know what I'll do if something happens to her. My dad comes downstairs and makes a cup of coffee.
Dad: Gwen left?
Me: Yeah, she's going to the location.
Dad: Good. I'll inform the boys they have a job coming up. Also, get some money ready.
Me: He doesn't want ransom dad.
Dad: You think we can just barge in there and nobody will say anything? We're going to have to buy their silence.
I nod my head. I head upstairs and get dressed. I went back downstairs and grabbed my keys.
Dad: Where are you going?
Me: Get my guns polished and get new guns.
Dad: Liam, what did I say?
Me: I'm just getting prepared for when the time comes.
I will not let it go this time. He crossed the line too many times. I spared him because of his family and Melanie. But now he has Melanie and our baby in harms way and I won't just let that slide. I will make sure this is the last time he messes with any of us ever again. I know Melanie is gonna be against me killing him, so the only damn option I have is to put him in prison. Even that's too good for him. I shaker my head. All that matters is that I get Melanie back. Safe and sound.
