CHAPTER TEN: The Kakau

                    “So where to now, my legs are killing me. We have been walking for ages" Elva complained. 

       “We just have to keep walking, Elva," Melian said. Elva groaned.

       “Then at least let's rest for a bit" She moved towards a big boulder and sat down. Melian sighed before turning to Alfur and Damien who were still walking ahead.

      “Hey you guys?!!, Let's rest here for a bit" she yelled out. They halted as Alfur grunted. He swiftly turned back to glare at Melian.

     “We don't have time to rest, the sooner we get this over with, the...." He froze as he saw what Elva was sitting down on. 

       “What's wrong?" Damien asked as he saw his expression. He walked towards them slowly.

     “Elva get down from there now" He harshly whispered. She groaned.

     “Just let me rest for a bit," she pleaded.

    “Get down from there or you are going to wake... " Just then the boulder opened its eyes and stood up, resulting in Elva falling to the ground. She quickly ran to where the rest were.

      “Are you okay?" Melian asked her worriedly. She nodded.

     “Yes. What is that?" She asked Alfur who was staring at the monster.

    “It's a kakau. It takes the form of a stone so as to trick it's prey to get closer to it just like you did. it's blind but it can hear any slight noise even your heartbeats" Melian and Elva sucked in their breaths. Alfur rolled his eyes at them.

     “I didn't say don't breathe, just do it quietly" he whispered. They slowly let out their breaths.

     “What do we do now?" Damien asked from behind.

     “Now we ru.." Melian tripped and fell to the ground with a loud thud. Alfur glared at her as the monster growled. They all turned to the monster and saw it was rolling towards them at high speed. Melian quickly stood up.

      “What do we do now?" She asked

      “We fight," Alfur said. He turned to Elva and Damien“ Aim at his eyes" They nodded at him and ran towards the Kakau. As Alfur was about to follow them, Melian held his arm.

     “What do I do?" She asked, he narrowed his eyes at her and swatted her hand from his arm. 

     “You stay here and don't touch anything" He said firmly. He disappeared without giving her a chance to speak and appeared right in front of the Kakau. Elva used her water to distract the monster so as to give Damien a clear opening. Damien ran towards the monster and jumped on it's back. He used his dark magic to create a dagger and stabbed the monster in the eyes. The Kakau growled and threw Damien off of him. Damien was about to get back up when Alfur held his shoulders.

     “Leave it to me" Damien nodded at him. He walked close to the monster and stood in its front. When the monster saw him, he screeched at him. Alfur smirked at him before closing his eyes. His aura turned dark and his eyes were pitch black when he opened them. He raised one of his hands which had transformed to claws and slashed the monster with it. The monster stilled for a while before it scattered into pieces. Elva gasped.

      “Wow, your powers are amazing, I'm totally jealous" She said to them. Alfur turned back to his normal self. He turned around and walked away.

      “No more resting, no more stopping" He said out loud as he passed Melian. Elva groaned.

      “You are so heartless" Alfur lip lifted a little.

       “I have your people to thank for that. Hurry up both of you" He said. Elva walked towards Melian and rested her arm on her shoulder.

      “Who knew fighting could make you feel so alive?!!" She said happily. Melian smiled sadly at her.

      “Sadly I won't ever be able to understand that" She removed Elva's arm from her shoulder and walked away. Elva sighed before following behind her.

                 “I think we should rest now, it's too dark," Melian told Alfur. He nodded. They had reached a secluded clearing, it was the best place to rest for now.

      “You guys rest, I'll go find something for us to eat" He told them and disappeared.

      “Show off" Melian said under her breath. A cold breeze flew by, making Melian and Elva shudder. Elva turned to Damien

      “Yo!!Damien, Don't you have some kind of heating power?" Elva asked. He rolled his eyes.

      “Even if I did, why would I use it on you?" He said in a monotone voice before turning away from her. She glared at him.

     “You..." Melian held her shoulder.

     “Don't worry, my father taught me how to light a fire. I'll go look for woods,” She said with a smile. Elva nodded.

     “Do you need help?" Melian shook her head. 

     “I'll be fine" She turned around and walked deeper into the bushes. Elva sighed before turning around to glare at Damien.. He raised an eyebrow at her . She huffed and sat down on the ground while hugging herself.

       “It shouldn't be too hard to find woods in a bush" Melian muttered to herself as she got deeper into the bushes. Her eyes widened as she saw a stack of woods on the ground.

      “Aha!!" She exclaimed. She ran towards it and picked a few before turning around and walking back to where she came from. After some minutes she grunted in frustration.

  “I seem to be lost, I swear I've passed this tree two times now" she said to herself. As she took a step forward, she heard something move within the bushes. She halted and turned towards it.

    “Who's there?" She yelled out. When no one answered, she proceeded to walk away but then she heard the noise again. She dropped the stack of wood in her arms and grabbed the heaviest one.

      “Who's there?I have a weapon in my hands and I'm not afraid to use it" she yelled out. Her heart was beating rapidly right about now. When no one answered again, she dropped the woods and decided to just run but as she turned around, a big black wolf with golden eyes was there sneering at her. She gulped.
